< Romans 9 >

1 I tell the truth in Christ. I do not lie, and my conscience bears witness with me in the Holy Spirit,
Qas tzij ri tajin kinbꞌij pa Cristo, ri nuchomabꞌal kuya ubꞌixik chwe pa ri Uxlabꞌixel.
2 that for me there is great sorrow and unceasing pain in my heart.
Kꞌo jun nimalaj bꞌis pa wanimaꞌ xuqujeꞌ kꞌo jun qꞌoxom pa ri wanimaꞌ ri man tanalinaq taj.
3 For I could wish that I myself would be cursed and set apart from Christ for the sake of my brothers, those of my own race according to the flesh.
Qas kurayij ri wanimaꞌ we ta in ketzelax nuwach xuqujeꞌ kinqꞌatiꞌ che ri Cristo, rech rukꞌ riꞌ are kekꞌamawaꞌx apanoq ri e wachalal rech ri nutinimit.
4 They are Israelites. They have adoption, the glory, the covenants, the gift of the law, the worship of God, and the promises.
We winaq aꞌj Israel, are waꞌ ri qas e sikꞌital apanoq rech kuꞌx alkꞌwaꞌlaxelabꞌ, rech kekꞌojiꞌ pa ri kꞌakꞌ chomanik, pa ri qꞌijilaꞌnem, are waꞌ ri bꞌiꞌtal loq ojer.
5 Theirs are the ancestors from whom Christ has come with respect to the flesh—he who is God over all. May he be praised forever. Amen. (aiōn g165)
E kijaꞌl konojel ri oꞌjer taq winaq aꞌj Israel ri xaꞌlax cho ri uwachulew, chike aꞌreꞌ xpe wi ri Cristo, are Dios pa kiwiꞌ ronojel ri jastaq. Qꞌijilaꞌtal ri ubꞌiꞌ chibꞌe qꞌij saq. Jeriꞌ. (aiōn g165)
6 But it is not as though the promises of God have failed. For it is not everyone in Israel who truly belongs to Israel.
Man kaqabꞌij ta kꞌut chi ri utzij ri Dios man xubꞌan taj ri uchak. Rumal ri rumal man konojel taj ri winaq ri e kꞌo kukꞌ ri aꞌj Israel e kijaꞌl aꞌj Israel.
7 Neither are all Abraham's descendants truly his children. But, “It is through Isaac that your descendants will be called.”
Man rukꞌ ta xuqu cher e rijaꞌl ri Abraham, e ralkꞌwaꞌl ri Abraham, xane: Konojel ri awijaꞌl kajeqiꞌ na rumal ri Isaac.
8 That is, the children of the flesh are not the children of God. But the children of the promise are regarded as descendants.
Kel kubꞌij chi man konojel ta ri e ralkꞌwaꞌl ri Abraham e ralkꞌwaꞌl ri Dios, xwi e ralkꞌwaꞌl ri Dios ri xkikꞌamawaꞌj ri xubꞌij loq ri Dios.
9 For this is the word of promise: “At this time I will come, and a son will be given to Sarah.”
Jewaꞌ kubꞌij ri xubꞌij loq ri Dios: Kinpe na pa jun junabꞌ, che riꞌ ri Sara kakꞌojiꞌ na jun ral ala.
10 Not only this, but after Rebekah also had conceived by one man, our father Isaac—
Man xaq xwi ta waꞌ xubꞌij xane xubꞌij xuqujeꞌ chi ri e ral ri Rebeca e ralkꞌwaꞌl xa jun achi, are ri qamam Isaac.
11 for the children were not yet born and had not yet done anything good or bad, so that the purpose of God according to choice might stand, not because of actions, but because of him who calls—
Are majaꞌ kaꞌlax ri e yoꞌx, are qas kꞌamajaꞌ na kakichomaj ubꞌanik ri utzilal o ri etzelal, rech jeriꞌ kajeqiꞌ ri uchomanik loq ri Dios,
12 it was said to her, “The older will serve the younger.”
man rumal taj ri kichak, xane rumal ri usikꞌinik ri Dios, xbꞌix che ri Rebeca: Ri nabꞌyal kupatanij na ri uchaqꞌ.
13 It is just as had been written: “Jacob I loved, but Esau I hated.”
Xuqujeꞌ tzꞌibꞌatalik: Xinloqꞌaj ri Jacob, xinwetzelaj ri Esaú.
14 What then will we say? Is there unrighteousness with God? May it never be.
¿Jas kꞌu ri kaqabꞌij? ¿La xa kꞌu man sukꞌ taj ri Dios? Man je ta riꞌ.
15 For he says to Moses, “I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion.”
Ri Dios xubꞌij che ri Moisés: Kintoqꞌobꞌisaj uwach ri kawaj in kintoqꞌobꞌisaj uwach, xuqujeꞌ kel na kꞌuꞌx che ri kawaj in kel na kꞌuꞌx che.
16 So then, it is not because of him who wills, nor because of him who runs, but because of God, who shows mercy.
Xaq jeriꞌ ri chaꞌnik ri kabꞌanik man are ta kabꞌanow ri uchuqꞌabꞌ ri winaq, xane are ri utoqꞌobꞌ ri Dios.
17 For the scripture says to Pharaoh, “For this very purpose I raised you up, so that I might demonstrate my power in you, and so that my name might be proclaimed in all the earth.”
Jeriꞌ rumal ri Tzꞌibꞌatalik kubꞌij che ri Faraón: “Xatinyak apanoq rech katinkoj chukꞌutik ri nukwinem, rech jeriꞌ katzijox na pa ri nubꞌiꞌ pa ronojel ri uwachulew.”
18 So then, God has mercy on whom he wishes, and whom he wishes, he makes stubborn.
Xaq jeriꞌ ri Dios kutoqꞌobꞌisaj uwach ri karaj kutoqꞌobꞌisaj uwach, xuqujeꞌ kukowirisaj ranimaꞌ xapachin karaj je kubꞌan che.
19 You will say then to me, “Why does he still find fault? For who has ever withstood his will?”
Wine kabꞌij chwe: ¿Jas kꞌu che kubꞌan aꞌjmakibꞌ chaqe? ¿Jachin kakwinik kukꞌopij ribꞌ cho ri urayibꞌal ukꞌuꞌx ri Dios?
20 On the contrary, man, who are you who answers against God? Will what has been molded say to the one who molds it, “Why did you make me this way?”
Ri in kinbꞌij chawe: ¿At jachin at che ri kata che ri Dios jas che jeriꞌ kubꞌano? ¿La kubꞌij kꞌu ri tꞌuꞌy che ri bꞌanal rech? “¿Jas che jewaꞌ xabꞌan che nubꞌanik?”
21 Does the potter not have the right over the clay to make from the same lump a container for special use, and another container for daily use?
¿La mat kꞌu kakwin ri bꞌanal bꞌoꞌj kubꞌan jun janipa xaruꞌ, nikꞌaj kukoj che chꞌuluj taq jastaq nikꞌaj chik kukoj che utz taq jastaq?
22 What if God, who is willing to show his wrath and to make his power known, endured with much patience containers of wrath prepared for destruction?
¿Jas kꞌu kaqabꞌij waꞌ che we riꞌ, ri Dios pune xraj xukꞌut ri royawal xuqujeꞌ xraj xukꞌut ri ukwinem, xuqꞌiqꞌitej man xuqꞌat taj tzij pa kiwiꞌ ri yaꞌtal chike kakꞌis tzij pa kiwiꞌ?
23 What if he did this in order that he might make known the riches of his glory upon containers of mercy, which he had previously prepared for glory?
Rech jeriꞌ kukꞌut ri uqꞌinomal ri ujuluwem chikiwach ri uꞌchaꞌom apanoq rech kaya uqꞌij kumal.
24 What if he did this also for us, whom he also called, not only from among the Jews, but also from among the Gentiles?
Uj waꞌ ri xujusikꞌij apanoq, man xwi ta xuꞌchaꞌ ri aꞌj Israel xane xuꞌchaꞌ xuqujeꞌ ri man aꞌj Israel taj.
25 As he says also in Hosea: “I will call my people who were not my people, and her beloved who was not beloved.
Jeriꞌ kubꞌij ri tzꞌibꞌatalik pa ri wuj rech Oseas: Kinbꞌij na nutinimit chike ri man e nutinimit taj, xuqujeꞌ ri man loqꞌatal ta nabꞌe, kinloqꞌaj na.
26 Then it will be that where it was said to them, 'You are not my people,' there they will be called 'sons of the living God.'”
Xuqujeꞌ pa ri kꞌolibꞌal ri xbꞌix wi chike: Ri ix man ix nutinimit taj, chilaꞌ kabꞌix wi na chike chi e ralkꞌwaꞌl ri kꞌaslik Dios.
27 Isaiah cries out concerning Israel, “Though the number of the children of Israel were as the sand of the sea, it will be a remnant that will be saved,
Ri Isaías, xubꞌij: Pune e kꞌi ri ralkꞌwaꞌl ri Israel jetaq ri sanyobꞌ ri kꞌo chuchiꞌ ri plo, xaq e kebꞌ oxibꞌ kekolotajik.
28 for the Lord will carry out his sentence on the earth, completely and without delay.”
Jeriꞌ rumal ri Dios aninaq kubꞌan na ri kꞌisbꞌal uqꞌatoj tzij puꞌwiꞌ ri uwachulew.
29 As Isaiah had said previously, “If the Lord of hosts had not left us descendants, we would be like Sodom, and we would have become like Gomorrah.”
Jeriꞌ ubꞌim loq ri Isaías: We ta mat xuya kan qijaꞌl ri Nimalaj Ajawxel, kujjunumataj riꞌ rukꞌ ri e tinimit Sodoma rachiꞌl Gomorra man xkikoj taj ri xbꞌix chike rumal ri Dios.
30 What will we say then? That the Gentiles, who were not pursuing righteousness, obtained righteousness, the righteousness by faith.
¿Jas kꞌu ri kaqabꞌij waꞌ che we riꞌ? Ri winaq ri man aꞌj Israel taj, ri man tajin ta kakitzukuj ri sukꞌal. Xkiriq ri sukꞌal, ri sukꞌal ri kakꞌamawaꞌxik pa ri kojobꞌal.
31 But Israel, who did pursue a law of righteousness, did not arrive at it.
Ri winaq aꞌj Israel are xkitereneꞌj ri sukꞌal pa ri taqanik, man xkiriq taj.
32 Why not? Because they did not pursue it by faith, but by works. They stumbled over the stone of stumbling,
¿Jas che? Rumal ri xkitereneꞌj ri taqanik man rukꞌ taj kojobꞌal, xane rukꞌ ri kichak, xkitopij kibꞌ che ri abꞌaj ri topibꞌal aqanaj.
33 as it has been written, “Look, I am laying in Zion a stone of stumbling and a rock of offense. He who believes in it will not be ashamed.”
Jetaq ri kubꞌij ri Tzꞌibꞌatalik: Kinya na waral pa Sión, jun abꞌaj topibꞌal aqanaj, rech jeriꞌ katzaq jun. Are kꞌu ri kakojon che ri Cristo, man kel taj ukꞌixibꞌal.
