< Romans 10 >
1 Brothers, my heart's desire and my request to God is for them, for their salvation.
Brethren, my heart's desire and prayer to God for Israel is that they may be saved.
2 For I testify about them that they have a zeal for God, but not according to knowledge.
For I bear them witness that they have a zeal for God, but not according to knowledge.
3 For they do not know of God's righteousness, and they seek to establish their own righteousness. They did not submit to the righteousness of God.
For being ignorant of the righteousness of God, and seeking to establish their own righteousness, they have not submitted themselves to the righteousness which is of God.
4 For Christ is the fulfillment of the law for righteousness for everyone who believes.
For Christ is the end of the law, for righteousness to every believer.
5 For Moses writes about the righteousness that comes from the law: “The man who does the righteousness of the law will live by this righteousness.”
For Moses describeth the righteousness which is of the law, "That the man who doth those things shall live by them."
6 But the righteousness that comes from faith says this, “Do not say in your heart, 'Who will ascend into heaven?' (that is, to bring Christ down);
But the righteousness which is of faith speaketh thus, "Say not in thine heart, Who shall ascend into heaven, (that is, to bring Christ down) or,
7 and do not say, 'Who will descend into the abyss?'” (that is, to bring Christ up from the dead). (Abyssos )
who shall descend into the deep, (that is, to (Abyssos )
8 But what does it say? “The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart.” That is the word of faith, which we proclaim.
bring up Christ from the dead)" but what saith it? "The word is nigh thee, in thy mouth and in thy heart." This is the word of faith which we preach: that if thou confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus,
9 For if with your mouth you acknowledge Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
and believe in thine heart, that God hath raised Him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
10 For with the heart man believes for righteousness, and with the mouth he acknowledges for salvation.
For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
11 For scripture says, “Everyone who believes on him will not be put to shame.”
For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on Him, shall not be ashamed.
12 For there is no difference between Jew and Greek. For the same Lord is Lord of all, and he is rich to all who call upon him.
For there is no difference of Jew and Greek: for He being Lord of all is bountiful to all that call upon Him.
13 For everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.
For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
14 How then can they call on him in whom they have not believed? How can they believe in him of whom they have not heard? How can they hear without a preacher?
But how shall they call upon him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe on him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?
15 Then how can they preach, unless they are sent?—As it is written, “How beautiful are the feet of those who proclaim glad tidings of good things!”
and how shall they preach unless they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of those who bring the good tidings of peace, who bring the good tidings of good things?
16 But they did not all listen to the gospel. For Isaiah says, “Lord, who has believed our message?”
But all have not obeyed the gospel: for Esaias saith, "Lord, who hath believed our report?"
17 So faith comes from hearing, and hearing by the word of Christ.
So that faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
18 But I say, “Did they not hear?” Yes, most certainly. “Their sound has gone out into all the earth, and their words to the ends of the world.”
But I say, Have they not heard? Verily their sound is gone out into all the earth, and their words to the ends of the world.
19 Moreover, I say, “Did Israel not know?” First Moses says, “I will provoke you to jealousy by what is not a nation. By means of a nation without understanding, I will stir you up to anger.”
But I say again, Did not Israel know this? when first Moses saith, "I will move you to jealousy by those who are not a people, I will provoke you to anger by a foolish nation:"
20 Then Isaiah was very bold when he says, “I was found by those who did not seek me. I appeared to those who did not ask for me.”
and Esaias positively affirms, "I was found of them that sought me not, I was made manifest to them that asked not after me:"
21 But to Israel he says, “All the day long I reached out my hands to a disobedient and stubborn people.”
and saith to Israel, "All the day long have I stretched out my hands to a disobedient and gainsaying people."
