Revelation 9

1 Then the fifth angel sounded his trumpet. I saw a star from heaven that had fallen to the earth. The star was given the key to the shaft of the bottomless pit. (Abyssos g12)

Ketika malaikat kelima meniup terompetnya, saya melihat sebuah bintang yang sudah jatuh dari langit ke bumi. Bintang itu seperti malaikat, dan kepadanya diberikan kunci jurang maut. (Abyssos g12)

2 He opened the shaft of the bottomless pit, and smoke went up out of the shaft like smoke from a huge furnace. The sun and the air turned dark by the smoke pouring out of the shaft. (Abyssos g12)

Lalu dia membuka pintu lubang jurang maut itu, dan naiklah asap tebal dari lubang itu seperti asap perapian. Matahari dan langit menjadi gelap karena asap dari lubang itu. (Abyssos g12)

3 Out of the smoke locusts came on the earth, and they were given power like that of scorpions on the earth.

Dari asap itu keluarlah belalang yang sangat banyak meliputi muka bumi. Allah memberikan kepada belalang-belalang itu kuasa untuk menyakiti manusia dengan racun seperti kalajengking.

4 They were told not to damage the grass on the earth or any green plant or tree, but only the people who did not have the seal of God on their foreheads.

Mereka dilarang merusak rumput, tumbuh-tumbuhan, ataupun pepohonan di bumi. Mereka hanya boleh menyakiti manusia yang tidak mempunyai tanda cap Allah di dahinya.

5 They were not given permission to kill those people, but only to torture them for five months. Their agony would be like the sting of a scorpion when it strikes a person.

Belalang itu tidak diizinkan membunuh mereka, tetapi hanya boleh menyiksa orang-orang itu selama lima bulan dengan siksaan yang sakitnya seperti terkena racun kalajengking.

6 In those days people will seek death, but will not find it. They will greatly desire to die, but death will flee from them.

Dalam lima bulan itu, penderitaan mereka begitu hebatnya sehingga mereka merasa ingin mati saja. Ya, mereka berusaha mengakhiri hidup, tetapi Allah akan menjauhkan kematian dari mereka.

7 The locusts looked like horses prepared for war. On their heads were something like crowns of gold, and their faces were like human faces.

Belalang itu tampak seperti kuda yang berbaju besi, siap berperang. Di atas kepala mereka ada sesuatu yang seperti mahkota emas. Muka belalang-belalang itu seperti muka manusia,

8 They had hair like women's hair, and their teeth were like lions' teeth.

dengan rambut panjang seperti perempuan dan gigi setajam gigi singa.

9 They had breastplates like iron breastplates, and the sound of their wings was like the sound made by many chariots and horses running into battle.

Dada mereka kelihatan seperti ditutup perisai besi. Bunyi sayap mereka seperti gemuruh deru barisan kereta perang yang berderap ditarik kuda ke medan perang.

10 They had tails with stingers like scorpions; in their tails they had power to harm people for five months.

Belalang-belalang itu memiliki ekor beracun seperti sengat kalajengking, yang digunakan untuk menyiksa manusia selama lima bulan.

11 They had as king over them the angel of the bottomless pit. His name in Hebrew was Abaddon, and in Greek he had the name Apollyon. (Abyssos g12)

Roh jahat yang memerintah batalion belalang itu adalah penguasa jurang maut. Dalam bahasa Ibrani namanya Abadon, dan dalam bahasa Yunani Apolion. Kedua nama itu artinya ‘penghancur’. (Abyssos g12)

12 The first woe is past. Look! After this there are still two disasters to come.

Itulah bencana pertama yang diumumkan oleh burung elang tadi. Tetapi masih ada dua bencana lagi yang harus terjadi.

13 The sixth angel sounded his trumpet, and I heard a voice coming from the horns of the golden altar that is present before God.

Ketika malaikat yang keenam meniup terompetnya, saya mendengar suara keluar dari mezbah emas yang di hadapan Allah. Mezbah itu berbentuk segi empat dan di setiap sudutnya terdapat satu tanduk. Suara itu keluar dari tanduk-tanduk tersebut.

14 The voice said to the sixth angel who had the trumpet, “Release the four angels who are bound at the great Euphrates River.”

Suara itu menyuruh malaikat keenam yang baru saja meniup terompetnya, “Lepaskanlah keempat setan yang terikat di dekat sungai besar Efrat!”

15 The four angels who had been prepared for that hour, that day, that month, and that year, were released to kill a third of mankind.

Perintah itu terlaksana tepat sesuai dengan waktu yang sudah ditetapkan Allah— tahun, bulan, hari, bahkan jamnya. Maka setan-setan itu dilepaskan untuk menjalankan tugasnya, yakni membunuh sepertiga umat manusia di bumi.

16 The number of the soldiers on horseback was 200,000,000. I heard their number.

Dan saya mendengar, “Tentara berkuda yang dipimpin oleh keempat setan itu jutaan milyar jumlahnya, begitu banyak hingga tak terbilang!”

17 This is how I saw the horses in my vision and those who rode on them: Their breastplates were fiery red, dark blue and sulfurous yellow. The heads of the horses resembled the heads of lions, and out of their mouths came fire, smoke, and sulfur.

Dalam penglihatan, saya sempat melihat tentara berkuda itu. Mereka memakai baju besi, ada yang berwarna merah seperti nyala api, ada yang biru tua, dan ada juga yang kuning seperti belerang. Kepala kuda-kuda itu seperti kepala singa. Kuda-kuda itu mengeluarkan api, asap hitam, dan asap belerang dari mulutnya.

18 A third of the people were killed by these three plagues: the fire, smoke, and sulfur that came out of their mouths.

Lalu sepertiga manusia di bumi dibunuh oleh ketiga bencana yang keluar dari mulut kuda-kuda itu— api, asap, dan belerang.

19 For the power of the horses was in their mouths and in their tails—for their tails were like snakes, and they had heads with which they inflicted wounds on people.

Kekuatan untuk membunuh bukan hanya dari mulut mereka, tetapi juga dari ekor, karena ekor kuda-kuda itu seperti kepala ular yang bisa menggigit dan menyiksa manusia.

20 The rest of mankind, those who were not killed by these plagues, did not repent of the deeds they had done, nor did they stop worshiping demons and idols of gold, silver, bronze, stone, and wood—things that cannot see, hear, or walk.

Namun, orang-orang yang tidak terbunuh oleh bencana besar itu tetap tidak mau bertobat dari penyembahan berhala. Mereka menolak berhenti menyembah roh-roh jahat dan patung-patung buatan tangannya sendiri. Mereka tetap memuja berhala yang terbuat dari emas, perak, tembaga, batu, dan kayu, yaitu benda mati yang tidak bisa melihat, mendengar, maupun berjalan.

21 Neither did they repent of their murders, their sorcery, their sexual immorality or their acts of theft.

Mereka juga tidak bertobat dari perbuatan jahat lainnya, seperti membunuh, mencuri, serta melakukan sihir dan percabulan.
