< Revelation 21 >

1 Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and the sea was no more.
ⲁ̅ⲁⲩⲱ ⲁⲓⲛⲁⲩ ⲉⲩⲡⲉ ⲛⲃⲣⲣⲉ ⲙⲛ ⲟⲩⲕⲁϩ ⲛⲃⲣⲣⲉ ⲧϣⲟⲣⲡ ⲅⲁⲣ ⲙⲡⲉ ⲙⲛ ⲡϣⲟⲣⲡ ⲛⲕⲁϩ ⲁⲩⲟⲩⲉⲓⲛⲉ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲑⲁⲗⲁⲥⲥⲁ ⲛⲉⲥϣⲟⲟⲡ ⲁⲛ ϭⲉ
2 I saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, that came down out of heaven from God, prepared like a bride adorned for her husband.
ⲃ̅ⲁⲩⲱ ⲁⲓⲛⲁⲩ ⲉⲧⲡⲟⲗⲓⲥ ⲉⲧⲟⲩⲁⲁⲃ ⲑⲓⲉⲣⲟⲩⲥⲁⲗⲏⲙ ⲛⲃⲣⲣⲉ ⲉⲥⲛⲏⲩ ⲉⲡⲉⲥⲏⲧ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲛ ⲧⲡⲉ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲓⲧⲙ ⲡⲛⲟⲩⲧⲉ ⲉⲥⲥⲃⲧⲱⲧ ⲛⲑⲉ ⲛⲟⲩϣⲉⲗⲉⲉⲧ ⲉⲥⲧⲁⲙⲓⲏⲩ ⲙⲡⲉⲥϩⲁⲓ
3 I heard a great voice from the throne saying, “Look! The dwelling place of God is with human beings, and he will live with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and he will be their God.
ⲅ̅ⲁⲓⲥⲱⲧⲙ ⲉⲩⲛⲟϭ ⲛⲥⲙⲏ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲛ ⲧⲡⲉ ⲉⲥϫⲱ ⲙⲙⲟⲥ ϫⲉ ⲉⲓⲥ ⲧⲉⲥⲕⲏⲛⲏ ⲙⲡⲛⲟⲩⲧⲉ ⲙⲛ ⲛⲣⲱⲙⲉ ⲁⲩⲱ ϥⲛⲁⲟⲩⲱϩ ⲛⲙⲙⲁⲩ ⲛⲥⲉϣⲱⲡⲉ ⲛⲁϥ ⲛⲗⲁⲟⲥ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲛⲧⲟϥ ⲡϫⲟⲉⲓⲥ ⲛⲉϥϣⲱⲡⲉ ⲛⲁⲩ ⲛⲛⲟⲩⲧⲉ
4 He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and there will be no more death, or grieving, or crying, or pain. The former things have passed away.
ⲇ̅ⲛⲉϥϥⲱⲧⲉ ⲛⲣⲙⲉⲓⲏ ⲛⲓⲙ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲛ ⲛⲉⲩⲃⲁⲗ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲙⲛ ⲙⲟⲩ ϭⲉ ⲛⲁϣⲱⲡⲉ ⲟⲩⲇⲉ ϩⲏⲃⲉ ⲟⲩⲇⲉ ⲙⲛ ⲁϣⲕⲁⲕ ⲟⲩⲇⲉ ⲙⲛ ϩⲓⲥⲉ ⲛⲁϣⲱⲡⲉ ϫⲓⲛ ⲛⲧⲉⲛⲟⲩ ϫⲉ ⲁⲛϣⲟⲣⲡ ⲟⲩⲉⲓⲛⲉ
5 The one who was seated on the throne said, “Look! I make all things new.” He said, “Write this down because these words are trustworthy and true.”
ⲉ̅ⲁⲩⲱ ⲡⲉϫⲁϥ ⲛϭⲓ ⲡⲉⲧϩⲙⲟⲟⲥ ϩⲓ ⲡⲉⲑⲣⲟⲛⲟⲥ ϫⲉ ⲉⲓⲥ ϩⲏⲏⲧⲉ ϯⲛⲁⲧⲁⲙⲓⲉ ⲛⲕⲁ ⲛⲓⲙ ⲛⲃⲣⲣⲉ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲡⲉϫⲁϥ ⲛⲁⲓ ϫⲉ ⲥϩⲁⲓ ϫⲉ ⲛⲉⲓϣⲁϫⲉ ⲛⲧⲁⲓϫⲟⲟⲩ ⲥⲉⲛϩⲟⲧ ⲁⲩⲱ ϩⲉⲛⲙⲉ ⲛⲉ
6 He said to me, “These things are done! I am the alpha and the omega, the beginning and the end. To the one who thirsts I will give drink without cost from the spring of the water of life.
ⲋ̅ⲡⲉϫⲁϥ ⲛⲁⲓ ϫⲉ ⲁⲓϣⲱⲡⲉ ⲛⲁⲗⲫⲁ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲛⲱ ⲡⲉϩⲟⲩⲉⲓⲧⲉ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲡϫⲱⲕ ⲁⲛⲟⲕ ϯⲛⲁϯ ⲙⲡⲉⲧⲟⲃⲉ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲛ ⲧⲡⲏⲅⲏ ⲙⲡⲙⲟⲟⲩ ⲙⲡⲱⲛϩ ⲛϫⲓⲛϫⲏ
7 The one who conquers will inherit these things, and I will be his God, and he will be my son.
ⲍ̅ⲡⲉⲧⲛⲁϫⲣⲟϥ ⲛⲁⲕⲗⲏⲣⲟⲛⲟⲙⲓ ⲛⲛⲁⲓ ⲁⲩⲱ ϯⲛⲁϣⲱⲡⲉ ⲛⲁϥ ⲛⲛⲟⲩⲧⲉ ⲛⲉϥϣⲱⲡⲉ ⲛⲁⲓ ⲛϣⲏⲣⲉ
8 But as for the cowards, the faithless, the detestable, the murderers, the sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars, their place will be in the fiery lake of burning sulfur. That is the second death.” (Limnē Pyr g3041 g4442)
ⲏ̅ⲛϭⲁⲃϩⲏⲧ ⲇⲉ ⲛⲧⲟⲟⲩ ⲙⲛ ⲛⲁⲡⲓⲥⲧⲟⲥ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲙⲛ ⲛⲉⲧⲃⲏⲧ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲛⲣⲉϥϩⲱⲧⲃ ⲙⲛ ⲛⲡⲟⲣⲛⲟⲥ ⲙⲛ ⲛⲉⲫⲁⲣⲙⲁⲕⲟⲥ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲛⲣϥϣⲙϣⲉ ⲉⲓⲇⲱⲗⲟⲛ ⲙⲛ ⲣⲉϥϫⲓϭⲟⲗ ⲛⲓⲙ ⲉⲣⲉⲧⲉⲩⲧⲟⲉ ⲛⲁϣⲱⲡⲉ ϩⲛ ⲧⲗⲓⲙⲛⲏ ⲉⲧϫⲉⲣⲟ ϩⲛ ⲟⲩⲕⲱϩⲧ ⲙⲛ ⲟⲩⲑⲏⲛ ⲉⲧⲉⲡⲁⲓ ⲡⲉ ⲡⲙⲟⲩ ⲙⲙⲉϩⲥⲛⲁⲩ (Limnē Pyr g3041 g4442)
9 One of the seven angels came to me, the one who had the seven bowls full of the seven last plagues, and he said, “Come here. I will show you the bride, the wife of the Lamb.”
ⲑ̅ⲁⲩⲱ ⲁϥⲉⲓ ⲛϭⲓ ⲕⲉⲟⲩⲁ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲙ ⲡⲥⲁϣϥ ⲛⲁⲅⲅⲉⲗⲟⲥ ⲉⲧⲉⲟⲩⲛⲧⲟⲩ ⲧⲥⲁϣϥⲉ ⲙⲫⲓⲁⲗⲏ ⲉⲧⲙⲉϩ ⲛⲛⲉⲡⲗⲏⲅⲏ ⲛϩⲁⲏ ⲁϥϣⲁϫⲉ ⲛⲙⲙⲁⲓ ⲉϥϫⲱ ⲙⲙⲟⲥ ϫⲉ ⲁⲙⲟⲩ ⲧⲁⲧⲥⲁⲃⲟⲕ ⲉⲧϣⲉⲗⲉⲉⲧ ⲧϩⲓⲙⲉ ⲙⲡⲉϩⲓⲉⲓⲃ
10 Then he carried me away in the Spirit to a great and high mountain and showed me the holy city Jerusalem coming down out of heaven from God.
ⲓ̅ⲁⲩⲱ ⲁϥϫⲓⲧ ϩⲙ ⲡⲉⲡⲛⲁ ⲉϫⲛ ⲟⲩⲧⲟⲟⲩ ⲛⲟϭ ⲉϥϫⲟⲥⲉ ⲁϥⲧⲥⲁⲃⲟⲓ ⲉⲧⲡⲟⲗⲓⲥ ⲉⲧⲟⲩⲁⲁⲃ ⲑⲓⲉⲗⲏⲙ ⲉⲥⲛⲏⲩ ⲉⲡⲉⲥⲏⲧ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲛ ⲧⲡⲉ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲓⲧⲙ ⲡⲛⲟⲩⲧⲉ
11 Jerusalem had the glory of God, and its brilliance was like a very precious jewel, like a stone of crystal-clear jasper.
ⲓ̅ⲁ̅ⲉⲟⲩⲛⲧⲁⲥ ⲙⲙⲁⲩ ⲙⲡⲉⲟⲟⲩ ⲙⲡⲛⲟⲩⲧⲉ ⲉⲣⲉⲡⲉⲥⲟⲩⲟⲉⲓⲛ ⲉϥⲉⲓⲛⲉ ⲛⲟⲩⲱⲛⲉ ⲙⲙⲉ ⲉϥⲧⲁⲓⲏⲩ ⲛⲑⲉ ⲛⲟⲩⲱⲛⲉ ⲛⲓⲁⲥⲡⲓⲥ ⲉϥⲉⲓⲛⲉ ⲛⲟⲩⲕⲣⲩⲥⲧⲁⲗⲟⲥ
12 It had a great, high wall with twelve gates, with twelve angels at the gates. On the gates were written the names of the twelve tribes of the children of Israel.
ⲓ̅ⲃ̅ⲉⲩⲛ ⲟⲩⲥⲟⲃⲧ ⲙⲙⲟⲥ ⲉϥϫⲟⲥⲉ ⲉⲩⲛ ⲙⲛⲧⲥⲛⲟⲟⲩⲥ ⲙⲡⲩⲗⲱⲛ ⲙⲙⲟⲥ ⲉⲣⲉⲙⲛⲧⲥⲛⲟⲟⲩⲥ ⲛⲁⲅⲅⲉⲗⲟⲥ ϩⲓϫⲛ ⲙⲡⲩⲗⲱⲛ ⲉⲣⲉϩⲉⲛⲣⲁⲛ ⲥⲏϩ ⲉⲣⲟⲥ ⲕⲁⲧⲁ ⲛⲣⲁⲛ ⲛⲧⲙⲛⲧⲥⲛⲟⲟⲩⲥ ⲙⲫⲩⲗⲏ ⲛⲛϣⲏⲣⲉ ⲙⲡⲉⲓⲥⲗ
13 On the east were three gates, on the north three gates, on the south three gates, and on the west three gates.
ⲓ̅ⲅ̅ⲉⲣⲉϣⲟⲙⲛⲧ ⲙⲡⲩⲗⲱⲛ ϭⲱϣⲧ ⲉⲡⲉⲓⲉⲃⲧ ⲁⲩⲱ ϣⲟⲙⲛⲧ ⲙⲡⲩⲗⲱⲛ ⲉⲡⲙϩⲓⲧ ⲁⲩⲱ ϣⲟⲙⲛⲧ ⲉⲡⲉⲙⲛⲧ ⲁⲩⲱ ϣⲟⲙⲛⲧ ⲉⲡⲣⲏⲥ
14 The wall of the city had twelve foundations, and on them were the twelve names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb.
ⲓ̅ⲇ̅ⲉϫⲛ ⲙⲛⲧⲥⲛⲟⲟⲩⲥ ⲛⲥⲛⲧⲉ ⲙⲡⲥⲟⲃⲧ ⲛⲧⲡⲟⲗⲓⲥ ⲉⲩⲥⲏϩ ⲉⲣⲟⲟⲩ ⲛϭⲓ ⲛⲣⲁⲛ ⲙⲡⲙⲛⲧⲥⲛⲟⲟⲩⲥ ⲛⲁⲡⲟⲥⲧⲟⲗⲟⲥ ⲙⲡⲉϩⲓⲉⲓⲃ
15 The one who spoke with me had a measuring rod made of gold to measure the city, its gates, and its wall.
ⲓ̅ⲉ̅ⲁⲩⲱ ⲡⲉⲧϣⲁϫⲉ ⲛⲙⲙⲁⲓ ⲛⲉⲩⲛ ⲟⲩⲕⲁϣ ⲛⲛⲟⲩⲃ ⲛⲧⲟⲟⲧϥ ⲛϣⲓ ϫⲉⲕⲁⲥ ⲉϥⲉϣⲓ ⲛⲧⲡⲟⲗⲓⲥ ⲙⲛ ⲛⲉⲥⲡⲩⲗⲱⲛ ⲙⲛ ⲛⲉⲥⲥⲟⲃⲧ
16 The city was laid out in a square; its length was the same as its width. He measured the city with the measuring rod, twelve thousand stadia in length (its length, width, and height were the same).
ⲓ̅ⲋ̅ⲁⲩⲱ ⲧⲡⲟⲗⲓⲥ ⲛⲉⲥⲟ ⲛⲧⲉⲧⲣⲁⲅⲱⲛⲟⲛ ⲉⲣⲉⲧⲉⲥϣⲓⲏ ϣⲏϣ ⲙⲛ ⲡⲉⲥⲟⲩⲱϣⲥ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲁϥϣⲓ ⲧⲡⲟⲗⲓⲥ ⲙⲡⲕⲁϣ ϣⲁ ⲙⲛⲧⲥⲛⲟⲟⲩⲥ ⲛϣⲉ ⲛⲥⲧⲁⲇⲓⲟⲛ ⲛϣⲓⲏ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲡⲉⲥⲟⲩⲱϣⲥ ⲙⲛ ⲡⲉⲥϫⲓⲥⲉ ⲉⲩϣⲏϣ ⲙⲛ ⲛⲉⲩⲉⲣⲏⲩ
17 He also measured its wall, 144 cubits thick by human measurement (which is also the angel's measure).
ⲓ̅ⲍ̅ⲁⲩⲱ ⲁϥϣⲓ ⲡⲉⲥⲥⲟⲃⲧ ⲛϣⲉ ϩⲙⲉ ⲧⲁϥⲧⲉ ⲙⲙⲁϩⲉ ⲙⲡϣⲓ ⲛⲟⲩⲣⲱⲙⲉ ⲉⲧⲉⲡⲁⲓ ⲡⲉ ⲟⲩⲁⲅⲅⲉⲗⲟⲥ
18 The wall was built of jasper and the city of pure gold, like clear glass.
ⲓ̅ⲏ̅ⲁⲩⲱ ⲡⲉⲥⲥⲟⲃⲧⲉ ϥⲕⲏⲧ ⲛⲓⲁⲥⲡⲓⲥ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲧⲡⲟⲗⲓⲥ ⲉⲥⲕⲏⲧ ⲛⲛⲟⲩⲃ ⲉⲛⲁⲛⲟⲩϥ ⲉϥⲉⲓⲛⲉ ⲛⲟⲩⲁⲃⲁϭⲏⲉⲓⲛ ⲉϥⲟⲩⲁⲁⲃ
19 The foundations of the wall were adorned with every kind of precious stone. The first was jasper, the second was sapphire, the third was agate, the fourth was emerald,
ⲓ̅ⲑ̅ⲛⲥⲛⲧⲉ ⲙⲡⲥⲟⲃⲧ ⲛⲧⲡⲟⲗⲓⲥ ⲉⲩⲧⲁⲙⲓⲏⲩ ϩⲓ ⲉⲛⲉ ⲙⲙⲉ ⲛⲓⲙ ⲧϣⲟⲣⲡ ⲛⲥⲛⲧⲉ ⲉⲥⲉⲓⲛⲉ ⲛⲓⲁⲥⲡⲓⲥ ⲧⲙⲉϩⲥⲛⲧⲉ ⲛⲥⲁⲡⲡⲓⲣⲟⲥ ⲧⲙⲉϩϣⲟⲙⲧⲉ ⲛⲭⲁⲣⲭⲏⲇⲓⲟⲛ ⲧⲙⲉϩϥⲧⲟⲉ ⲛⲥⲙⲁⲣⲅⲇⲟⲥ
20 the fifth was onyx, the sixth was carnelian, the seventh was chrysolite, the eighth was beryl, the ninth was topaz, the tenth was chrysoprase, the eleventh was jacinth, and the twelfth was amethyst.
ⲕ̅ⲧⲙⲉϩϯⲉ ⲛⲥⲁⲣⲇⲟⲛⲓⲝ ⲧⲙⲉϩⲥⲟ ⲛⲥⲁⲣⲇⲓⲟⲛ ⲧⲙⲉϩⲥⲁϣϥⲉ ⲛⲭⲣⲩⲥⲟⲗⲓⲑⲟⲥ ⲧⲙⲉϩϣⲙⲟⲩⲛⲉ ⲛⲃⲏⲣⲩⲗⲗⲟⲥ ⲧⲙⲉϩⲯⲓⲧⲉ ⲛⲧⲟⲡⲁⲍⲓⲟⲛ ⲧⲙⲉϩⲙⲏⲧⲉ ⲛⲭⲣⲩⲥⲟⲡⲣⲁⲥⲟⲥ ⲧⲙⲉϩⲙⲛⲧⲟⲩⲉ ⲛϩⲩⲁⲕⲓⲛⲑⲓⲛⲟⲛ ⲧⲙⲉϩⲙⲛⲧⲥⲛⲟⲟⲩⲥ ⲛⲁⲙⲉⲑⲩⲥⲧⲟⲥ
21 The twelve gates were twelve pearls; each of the gates was made from a single pearl. The streets of the city were pure gold, like transparent glass.
ⲕ̅ⲁ̅ⲁⲩⲱ ⲡⲙⲛⲧⲥⲛⲟⲟⲩⲥ ⲙⲡⲩⲗⲱⲛ ⲛⲉⲩⲟ ⲙⲙⲛⲧⲥⲛⲟⲟⲩⲥ ⲙⲙⲁⲣⲅⲁⲣⲓⲧⲏⲥ ⲉⲣⲉⲡⲟⲩⲁ ⲡⲟⲩⲁ ⲛⲙⲡⲩⲗⲱⲛ ϣⲟⲟⲡ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲛ ⲟⲩⲙⲁⲣⲅⲁⲣⲓⲧⲏⲥ ⲛⲟⲩⲱⲧ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲧⲉⲡⲗⲁⲧⲓⲁ ⲛⲧⲡⲟⲗⲓⲥ ⲉⲥⲟ ⲛⲛⲟⲩⲃ ⲉϥⲟⲩⲁⲁⲃ ⲛⲑⲉ ⲛⲟⲩⲁⲃⲁϭⲏⲉⲓⲛ ⲉϥⲧⲃⲃⲏⲩ
22 I saw no temple in the city, for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are its temple.
ⲕ̅ⲃ̅ⲙⲡⲓⲛⲁⲩ ⲇⲉ ⲉⲣⲡⲉ ⲛϩⲏⲧⲥ ⲡϫⲟⲉⲓⲥ ⲅⲁⲣ ⲡⲛⲟⲩⲧⲉ ⲡⲉ ⲡⲉⲥⲣⲡⲉ ⲙⲛ ⲡⲉϩⲓⲉⲓⲃ
23 The city had no need of the sun or the moon in order to shine on it because the glory of God shone on it, and its lamp is the Lamb.
ⲕ̅ⲅ̅ⲁⲩⲱ ⲧⲡⲟⲗⲓⲥ ⲛⲉⲥⲣ ⲭⲣⲓⲁ ⲁⲛ ⲙⲡⲣⲏ ⲙⲛ ⲡⲟⲟϩ ⲉⲧⲣⲉⲩⲣ ⲟⲩⲟⲉⲓⲛ ⲉⲣⲟⲥ ⲡⲉⲟⲟⲩ ⲅⲁⲣ ⲙⲡⲛⲟⲩⲧⲉ ⲣⲟⲩⲟⲉⲓⲛ ⲉⲣⲟⲥ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲡⲉⲥϩⲏⲃⲥ ⲡⲉ ⲡⲉϩⲓⲉⲓⲃ
24 The nations will walk by the light of that city. The kings of the earth will bring their splendor into it.
ⲕ̅ⲇ̅ⲁⲩⲱ ⲛϩⲉⲑⲛⲟⲥ ⲛⲁⲙⲟⲟϣⲉ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲓⲧⲙ ⲡⲉⲥⲟⲩⲟⲉⲓⲛ ⲙⲛ ⲛⲣⲣⲱⲟⲩ ⲙⲡⲕⲁϩ ⲉⲩⲉⲓⲛⲉ ⲙⲡⲉⲩⲟⲟⲩ ⲉϩⲟⲩⲛ ⲉⲣⲟⲥ
25 Its gates will not be shut during the day, and there will be no night there.

26 They will bring the splendor and the honor of the nations into it,
ⲕ̅ⲋ̅ⲥⲉⲛⲁϫⲓ ⲉϩⲟⲩⲛ ⲙⲡⲉⲟⲟⲩ ⲙⲛ ⲡⲧⲁⲓⲟ ⲛⲛϩⲉⲑⲛⲟⲥ
27 but nothing unclean will ever enter into it, nor anyone who does what is shameful or deceitful, but only those whose names are written in the Lamb's Book of Life.
