< Psalms 97 >
1 Yahweh reigns; let the earth rejoice; let the many coastlands be glad.
Huic David, quando terra ejus restituta est. [Dominus regnavit: exsultet terra; lætentur insulæ multæ.
2 Clouds and darkness surround him. Righteousness and justice are the foundation of his throne.
Nubes et caligo in circuitu ejus; justitia et judicium correctio sedis ejus.
3 Fire goes before him and consumes his adversaries on every side.
Ignis ante ipsum præcedet, et inflammabit in circuitu inimicos ejus.
4 His lightning lights up the world; the earth sees and trembles.
Illuxerunt fulgura ejus orbi terræ; vidit, et commota est terra.
5 The mountains melt like wax before Yahweh, the Lord of the whole earth.
Montes sicut cera fluxerunt a facie Domini; a facie Domini omnis terra.
6 The skies declare his justice, and all the nations see his glory.
Annuntiaverunt cæli justitiam ejus, et viderunt omnes populi gloriam ejus.
7 All those who worship carved figures will be shamed, those who boast in worthless idols— bow down to him, all you gods!
Confundantur omnes qui adorant sculptilia, et qui gloriantur in simulacris suis. Adorate eum omnes angeli ejus.
8 Zion heard and was glad, and the towns of Judah rejoiced because of your righteous decrees, Yahweh.
Audivit, et lætata est Sion, et exsultaverunt filiæ Judæ propter judicia tua, Domine.
9 For you, Yahweh, are most high above all the earth. You are exalted far above all gods.
Quoniam tu Dominus altissimus super omnem terram; nimis exaltatus es super omnes deos.
10 You who love Yahweh, hate evil! He protects the lives of his saints, and he takes them out of the hand of the wicked.
Qui diligitis Dominum, odite malum: custodit Dominus animas sanctorum suorum; de manu peccatoris liberabit eos.
11 Light is sown for the righteous and gladness for those with honest hearts.
Lux orta est justo, et rectis corde lætitia.
12 Be glad in Yahweh, you righteous; and give thanks when you remember his holiness.
Lætamini, justi, in Domino, et confitemini memoriæ sanctificationis ejus.]
