Psalms 73
1 A psalm of Asaph. Surely God is good to Israel, to those with a pure heart.
Ein Psalm Asafs. / Ja, gütig ist Gott gegen Israel, / Gegen die, die reines Herzens sind.
2 But as for me, my feet almost slipped; my feet almost slipped out from under me
Doch meine Füße wären beinah gestrauchelt, / Meine Tritte fast ausgeglitten.
3 because I was envious of the arrogant when I saw the prosperity of the wicked.
Denn ich ward neidisch auf die Prahler, / Als ich das Glück der Frevler sah.
4 For they have no pain until their death, but they are strong and well fed.
Sie kennen ja keine Schmerzen, / Und von Gesundheit strotzt ihr Leib.
5 They are free from the burdens of other men; they are not afflicted like other men.
Nicht sind sie in Unglück wie Sterbliche sonst, / Sie leiden nicht Plage wie andre Leute.
6 Pride adorns them like a necklace around their neck; violence clothes them like a robe.
Drum ist auch Hoffart ihr Halsschmuck, / Unrecht umhüllt sie als ihr Gewand.
7 Out of such blindness comes sin; evil thoughts pass through their hearts.
Ihr Auge tritt mühsam hervor aus dem Fett, / Ihr Herz ist voll stolzer Gedanken.
8 They mock and speak wickedly; in their arrogance they threaten oppression.
Sie höhnen und sprechen boshaft von Gewalt, / Sie reden von oben herab.
9 They set their mouth against the heavens, and their tongues march through the earth.
In den Himmel setzen sie ihren Mund, / Ihre Zunge ergeht sich auf Erden.
10 Therefore his people turn to them and abundant waters are drained out.
Drum fallen ihnen die Leute zu, / Die schlürfen Wasser in Fülle ein.
11 They say, “How does God know? Is there knowledge with the Most High?”
Sie sprechen: "Wie sollte Gott etwas wissen? / Wohnt denn bei dem Höchsten Kenntnis?
12 Take notice: these people are wicked; they are always carefree, becoming richer and richer.
Diese Leute leben zwar ohne Gott, / Doch haben sie, ewig ungestört, / Reichtum und Macht erlangt.
13 Surely it is in vain that I have guarded my heart and washed my hands in innocence.
Umsonst ist's, daß ich mein Herz hab reingehalten / Und meine Hände in Unschuld gewaschen.
14 For all the day long I have been afflicted and disciplined every morning.
Ich war doch geplagt den ganzen Tag / Und ward alle Morgen aufs neue gestraft."
15 If I had said, “I will say these things,” then I would have betrayed this generation of your children.
Hätt ich gedacht: So will ich auch reden, / Ich hätte verleugnet deiner Kinder Geschlecht.
16 Though I tried to understand these things, it was too difficult for me.
So sann ich denn nach, dies Rätsel zu lösen; / Doch allzu schwierig war es für mich;
17 Then I went into God's sanctuary and came to understand their fate.
Bis ich in Gottes Heiligtum ging / Und auf ihr (trauriges) Ende merkte.
18 Surely you put them in slippery places; you bring them down to ruin.
Ja, auf schlüpfrigen Boden stellst du sie, / Du stürzest sie ins Verderben.
19 How they become a wilderness in a moment! They come to an end and are finished in awful terrors.
Wie sind sie im Nu zunichte geworden, / Geschwunden, vergangen durch Schreckensgerichte!
20 They are like a dream after one wakes up; Lord, when you arise, you will think nothing of those dreams.
Wie ein Traum verfliegt, sobald man erwacht: / So wirst du, Adonái, ihr Bild verschmähn, / Wenn du dich aufmachst (zu richten).
21 For my heart was grieved, and I was deeply wounded.
Würde (nun wieder) mein Herz erbittert, / Und fühlt ich es stechen in meinen Nieren:
22 I was ignorant and lacked insight; I was like a senseless animal before you.
Dann wär ich ein Narr und wüßte nichts, / Ich wäre sogar wie ein Tier vor dir.
23 Yet I am always with you; you hold my right hand.
Aber ich bleibe nun stets bei dir, / Du hast ja erfaßt meine rechte Hand.
24 You will guide me with your advice and afterward receive me to glory.
Nach deinem Ratschluß wirst du mich leiten / Und nimmst mich endlich mit Ehren auf.
25 Whom have I in heaven but you? There is no one on earth that I desire but you.
Wen hätt ich im Himmel (ohne dich)? / Und bist du mein, so begehr ich nichts weiter auf Erden.
26 My flesh and my heart grow weak, but God is the strength of my heart forever.
Ist auch mein Leib geschwunden, und schlägt mein Herz nicht mehr: / Meines Herzens Hort und mein Besitz / Bleibt doch Elohim auf ewig!
27 Those who are far from you will perish; you will destroy all those who are unfaithful to you.
Denn die von dir weichen, die kommen um; / Du vertilgst, die dich treulos verlassen.
28 But as for me, all I need to do is to approach God. I have made the Lord Yahweh my refuge. I will declare all your deeds.
Mir aber ist köstlich die Nähe Elohims. / Auf Adonái Jahwe ruht mein Vertraun: / So will ich verkündigen all dein Tun.
