< Psalms 63 >

1 A psalm of David, when he was in the wilderness of Judah. God, you are my God! I earnestly search for you, my soul thirsts for you, and my flesh longs for you, in a dry and weary land where there is no water.
Psalmus David, Cum esset in deserto Idumææ. Deus, Deus meus, ad te de luce vigilo. Sitivit in te anima mea, quam multipliciter tibi caro mea.
2 So I have looked on you in the sanctuary, to see your power and your glory.
In terra deserta, et invia, et inaquosa: sic in sancto apparui tibi, ut viderem virtutem tuam, et gloriam tuam.
3 Because your covenant faithfulness is better than life, my lips will praise you.
Quoniam melior est misericordia tua super vitas: labia mea laudabunt te.
4 So I will bless you while I live; I will lift up my hands in your name.
Sic benedicam te in vita mea: et in nomine tuo levabo manus meas.
5 It will be as if I ate a meal of marrow and fatness; with joyful lips my mouth will praise you,
Sicut adipe et pinguedine repleatur anima mea: et labiis exultationis laudabit os meum.
6 when I think about you on my bed and meditate on you in the night hours.
Si memor fui tui super stratum meum, in matutinis meditabor in te:
7 For you have been my help, and in the shadow of your wings I rejoice.
quia fuisti adiutor meus. Et in velamento alarum tuarum exultabo,
8 I cling to you; your right hand supports me.
adhæsit anima mea post te: me suscepit dextera tua.
9 But those who seek to destroy my life will go down into the lowest parts of the earth;
Ipsi vero in vanum quæsierunt animam meam, introibunt in inferiora terræ:
10 they will be given over to those whose hands use the sword, and they will become food for the jackals.
tradentur in manus gladii, partes vulpium erunt.
11 But the king will rejoice in God; everyone who swears by him will be proud of him, but the mouth of those who speak lies will be stopped up.
Rex vero lætabitur in Deo, laudabuntur omnes qui iurant in eo: quia obstructum est os loquentium iniqua.
