< Psalms 61 >
1 For the chief musician; on a stringed instrument. A psalm of David. Hear my cry, God; attend to my prayer.
For the end, among the Hymns of David. O God, listen to my petition; attend to my prayer.
2 From the ends of the earth will I call to you when my heart is faint; lead me to the rock that is higher than I.
From the ends of the earth have I cried to you, when my heart was in trouble: you lifted me up on a rock you did guide me:
3 For you have been a refuge for me, a strong tower from the enemy.
because you were my hope, a tower of strength from the face of the enemy.
4 Let me live in your tabernacle forever! Let me take refuge under the shelter of your wings. (Selah)
I will dwell in your tabernacle for ever; I will shelter myself under the shadow of your wings. (Pause)
5 For you, God, have heard my vows, you have given me the inheritance of those who honor your name.
For you, o God, have heard my prayers; you have given an inheritance to them that fear your name.
6 You will prolong the king's life; his years will be like many generations.
You shall add days to the days of the king; [you shall lengthen] his years to all generations.
7 He will remain before God forever.
He shall endure for ever before God: which of them will seek out his mercy and truth?
8 I will sing praise to your name forever so that I may perform my vows every day.
So will I sing to your name for ever and ever, that I may daily perform my vows.
