Psalms 59
1 For the chief musician; set to Al Tashheth. A psalm of David. A michtam; when Saul sent, and they watched the house to kill him. Rescue me from my enemies, my God; set me on high away from those who rise up against me.
Dem Vorsänger. «Verdirb nicht.» Eine Denkschrift von David; als Saul das Haus bewachen ließ, um ihn zu töten. Mein Gott, errette mich von meinen Feinden, befreie mich von meinen Widersachern!
2 Keep me safe from the workers of iniquity, and save me from the bloodthirsty men.
Errette mich von den Übeltätern und hilf mir von den Blutgierigen!
3 For, see, they wait in ambush to take my life. The powerful men gather themselves together against me, but not because of my transgression or my sin, Yahweh.
Denn siehe, sie lauern auf mein Leben, Starke sammeln sich wider mich, o HERR, ohne mein Verschulden und ohne daß ich gefehlt.
4 They prepare to run at me although I am without fault; awake and help me and see.
Gegen einen Unschuldigen laufen und rüsten sie sich; mache dich auf, komm mir entgegen und siehe darein!
5 You, Yahweh God of hosts, the God of Israel, arise and punish all the nations; do not be merciful to any wicked transgressors. (Selah)
Ja, du, HERR, Gott der Heerscharen, Gott Israels, mache dich auf, alle Heiden heimzusuchen, schone keinen der ruchlosen Verräter! (Pause)
6 They return at evening, they howl like dogs and go around the city.
Sie kommen jeden Abend, heulen wie die Hunde und laufen in der Stadt herum.
7 See, they belch out with their mouths; swords are in their lips, for they say, “Who hears us?”
Siehe, ihr Mund sprudelt [Böses], Schwerter sind auf ihren Lippen; denn [sie denken: ] «Wer hört es?»
8 But you, Yahweh, laugh at them; you hold all the nations in derision.
Aber du, HERR, lachst ihrer, du spottest aller Heiden.
9 God, my strength, I will pay attention to you; you are my high tower.
Meine Stärke, auf dich gebe ich acht; denn Gott ist meine hohe Burg.
10 My God will meet me with his covenant faithfulness; God will let me see my desire on my enemies.
Mein Gott wird mir entgegenkommen mit seiner Gnade; Gott wird mich meine Lust sehen lassen an meinen Feinden.
11 Do not kill them, or my people will forget. Scatter them by your power and make them fall, Lord our shield.
Töte sie nicht, sonst hat es mein Volk bald wieder vergessen; vertreibe sie durch deine Macht und stürze sie, Herr, unser Schild!
12 For the sins of their mouths and the words of their lips, let them be captured in their pride, and for the curses and lies that they express.
Das Wort ihres Mundes ist nichts als Sünde, sie verstricken sich in ihrem Übermut, in den Flüchen, die sie ausstoßen, und in den Lügen, die sie erzählen.
13 Consume them in wrath, consume them so that they will be no more; let them know that God rules in Jacob and to the ends of the earth. (Selah)
Vertilge sie im Zorn, vertilge sie gänzlich, damit man innewerde, daß Gott in Jakob herrscht bis an die Enden der Erde! (Pause)
14 At evening they return, howling like dogs going around the city.
Dann sollen sie am Abend wiederkommen, heulen wie die Hunde und umherlaufen in der Stadt;
15 They wander about looking for food and they growl like a dog if they are not satisfied.
sie sollen umherirren nach Speise, wenn sie keine Nahrung und kein Obdach finden!
16 But I will sing about your strength, and in the morning I will sing about your steadfast love! For you have been my high tower and a refuge in the day of my distress.
Ich aber will deine Macht besingen und alle Morgen deine Gnade rühmen, daß du mir zur Zuflucht geworden bist, zum Schutz am Tage der Not.
17 To you, my strength, I will sing praises; for God is my high tower, the God of covenant faithfulness.
Ich will dir singen, meine Stärke; denn du bist meine Zuflucht, mein gnädiger Gott!
