< Psalms 47 >

1 For the chief musician. A psalm of the sons of Korah. Clap your hands, all you peoples; shout to God with the sound of triumph.
In finem, pro filiis Core Psalmus. Omnes gentes plaudite manibus: iubilate Deo in voce exultationis.
2 For Yahweh Most High is terrifying; he is a great King over all the earth.
Quoniam Dominus excelsus, terribilis: Rex magnus super omnem terram.
3 He subdues peoples under us and nations under our feet.
Subiecit populos nobis: et gentes sub pedibus nostris.
4 He chooses our inheritance for us, the glory of Jacob whom he loved. (Selah)
Elegit nobis hereditatem suam: speciem Iacob, quam dilexit.
5 God has gone up with a shout, Yahweh with the sound of a trumpet.
Ascendit Deus in iubilo: et Dominus in voce tubæ.
6 Sing praises to God, sing praises; sing praises to our King, sing praises.
Psallite Deo nostro, psallite: psallite Regi nostro, psallite.
7 For God is the King over all the earth; sing praises with understanding.
Quoniam Rex omnis terræ Deus: psallite sapienter.
8 God reigns over the nations; God sits on his holy throne.
Regnabit Deus super gentes: Deus sedet super sedem sanctam suam.
9 The princes of the peoples have gathered together to the people of the God of Abraham; for the shields of the earth belong to God; he is greatly exalted.
Principes populorum congregati sunt cum Deo Abraham: quoniam dii fortes terræ, vehementer elevati sunt.
