Psalms 44
1 For the chief musician. A psalm of the sons of Korah. A maschil. We have heard with our ears, God, our fathers have told us what work you did in their days, in the days of old.
聖歌隊の指揮者によってうたわせたコラの子のマスキールの歌 神よ、いにしえ、われらの先祖たちの日に、あなたがなされたみわざを彼らがわれらに語ったのを耳で聞きました。
2 You drove out the nations with your hand, but you planted our people; you afflicted the peoples, but you spread our people out in the land.
すなわちあなたはみ手をもって、もろもろの国民を追い払ってわれらの先祖たちを植え、またもろもろの民を悩まして、われらの先祖たちをふえ広がらせられました。
3 For they did not obtain the land for their possession by their own sword, neither did their own arm save them; but your right hand, your arm, and the light of your face, because you were favorable to them.
彼らは自分のつるぎによって国を獲たのでなく、また自分の腕によって勝利を得たのでもありません。ただあなたの右の手、あなたの腕、あなたのみ顔の光によるのでした。あなたが彼らを恵まれたからです。
4 God, You are my King; command victory for Jacob.
あなたはわが王、わが神、ヤコブのために勝利を定められる方です。
5 Through you we will push down our adversaries; through your name we will tread them under, those who rise up against us.
われらはあなたによって、あだを押し倒し、われらに立ちむかう者を、み名によって踏みにじるのです。
6 For I will not trust in my bow, neither will my sword save me.
わたしは自分の弓を頼まず、わたしのつるぎもまた、わたしを救うことができないからです。
7 But you have saved us from our adversaries, and have put to shame those who hate us.
しかしあなたはわれらをあだから救い、われらを憎む者をはずかしめられました。
8 In God we have made our boast all the day long, and we will give thanks to your name forever. (Selah)
われらは常に神によって誇り、とこしえにあなたのみ名に感謝するでしょう。 (セラ)
9 But now you have thrown us off and brought us dishonor, and you do not go out with our armies.
ところがあなたはわれらを捨てて恥を負わせ、われらの軍勢と共に出て行かれませんでした。
10 You make us turn back from the adversary; and those who hate us take spoil for themselves.
あなたがわれらをあだの前から退かせられたので、われらの敵は心のままにかすめ奪いました。
11 You have made us like sheep to be slaughtered and have scattered us among the nations.
あなたはわれらをほふられる羊のようにし、またもろもろの国民のなかに散らされました。
12 You sell your people for nothing; you have not increased your wealth by doing so.
あなたはわずかの金であなたの民を売り、彼らのために高い価を求められませんでした。
13 You make us a rebuke to our neighbors, scoffed and mocked by those around us.
あなたはわれらを隣り人にそしらせ、われらをめぐる者どもに侮らせ、あざけらせられました。
14 You make us an insult among the nations, a shaking of the head among the peoples.
またもろもろの国民のなかにわれらを笑い草とし、もろもろの民のなかに笑い者とされました。
15 All the day long my dishonor is before me, and the shame of my face has covered me
わがはずかしめはひねもすわたしの前にあり、恥はわたしの顔をおおいました。
16 because of the voice of him who rebukes and insults, because of the enemy and the avenger.
これはそしる者と、ののしる者の言葉により、敵と、恨みを報いる者のゆえによるのです。
17 All this has come on us; yet we have not forgotten you or dealt falsely with your covenant.
これらの事が皆われらに臨みましたが、われらはあなたを忘れず、あなたの契約にそむくことがありませんでした。
18 Our heart has not turned back; our steps have not gone from your way.
われらの心はたじろがず、またわれらの歩みはあなたの道を離れませんでした。
19 Yet you have severely broken us in the place of jackals and covered us with the shadow of death.
それでもあなたは山犬の住む所でわれらを砕き、暗やみをもってわれらをおおわれました。
20 If we have forgotten the name of our God or spread out our hands to a strange god,
われらがもしわれらの神の名を忘れ、ほかの神に手を伸べたことがあったならば、
21 would not God search this out? For he knows the secrets of the heart.
神はこれを見あらわされないでしょうか。神は心の秘密をも知っておられるからです。
22 Indeed, for your sake we are being killed all day long; we are considered to be sheep for the slaughter.
ところがわれらはあなたのためにひねもす殺されて、ほふられる羊のようにみなされました。
23 Awake, why do you sleep, Lord? Arise, do not throw us off permanently.
主よ、起きてください。なぜ眠っておられるのですか。目をさましてください。われらをとこしえに捨てないでください。
24 Why do you hide your face and forget our affliction and our oppression?
なぜあなたはみ顔を隠されるのですか。なぜわれらの悩みと、しえたげをお忘れになるのですか。
25 For we have melted away into the dust; our bodies cling to the earth.
まことにわれらの魂はかがんで、ちりに伏し、われらのからだは土につきました。
26 Rise up for our help and redeem us for the sake of your covenant faithfulness.
起きて、われらをお助けください。あなたのいつくしみのゆえに、われらをあがなってください。
