Psalms 114

1 When Israel left Egypt, the house of Jacob from a people who spoke a foreign language,

בצאת ישראל ממצרים בית יעקב מעם לעז

2 Judah became his holy place, Israel his kingdom.

היתה יהודה לקדשו ישראל ממשלותיו

3 The sea looked and fled; the Jordan turned back.

הים ראה וינס הירדן יסב לאחור

4 The mountains skipped like rams, the hills skipped like lambs.

ההרים רקדו כאילים גבעות כבני-צאן

5 Why did you flee, sea? Jordan, why did you turn back?

מה-לך הים כי תנוס הירדן תסב לאחור

6 Mountains, why did you skip like rams? You little hills, why did you skip like lambs?

ההרים תרקדו כאילים גבעות כבני-צאן

7 Tremble, earth, before the Lord, at the presence of the God of Jacob.

מלפני אדון חולי ארץ מלפני אלוה יעקב

8 He turned the rock into a pool of water, the hard rock into a spring of water.
