< Psalms 114 >
1 When Israel left Egypt, the house of Jacob from a people who spoke a foreign language,
Rĩrĩa Isiraeli moimire bũrũri wa Misiri, nyũmba ya Jakubu ĩkiuma kũrĩ andũ a rũthiomi rũngĩ-rĩ,
2 Judah became his holy place, Israel his kingdom.

3 The sea looked and fled; the Jordan turned back.

4 The mountains skipped like rams, the hills skipped like lambs.
Irĩma igĩtũhatũũha ta ndũrũme, natuo tũrĩma tũgĩtũhatũũha ta tũgondu.
5 Why did you flee, sea? Jordan, why did you turn back?
Kaĩ wonire atĩa, wee iria, nĩguo ũre, nawe Jorodani, tondũ wacookire na thuutha?
6 Mountains, why did you skip like rams? You little hills, why did you skip like lambs?
Inyuĩ irĩma, muonete kĩ, nĩguo mũtũhatũũhe ta ndũrũme, na inyuĩ tũrĩma, nĩguo mũtũhatũũhe ta tũgondu?
7 Tremble, earth, before the Lord, at the presence of the God of Jacob.
Wee thĩ, ta kĩinaine ũrĩ mbere ya Mwathani, ũrĩ hau mbere ya Ngai ũcio wa Jakubu,
8 He turned the rock into a pool of water, the hard rock into a spring of water.
