< Psalms 112 >
1 Praise Yahweh. Blessed is the man who obeys Yahweh, who greatly delights in his commandments.
Praise Yahweh! (Happy are/He is pleased with) those who revere him, those who happily obey his commands.
2 His descendants will be powerful on earth; the descendants of the godly man will be blessed.
Their children will prosper in their land; and their descendants will be blessed [by God].
3 Wealth and riches are in his house; his righteousness will endure forever.
Their families [MTY] will be very wealthy [DOU], and [the results of] their righteous deeds will endure forever.
4 Light shines in the darkness for the godly person; he is gracious, merciful, and just.
Godly/Righteous people are [like] lights [SIM] that shine in the darkness on those who are kind, merciful and righteous.
5 It goes well for the man who deals graciously and lends money, who conducts his affairs with honesty.
Things [will] go well for those who generously lend money to others and who conduct their businesses honestly.
6 For he will never be moved; the righteous person will be remembered forever.
Righteous people will not be overwhelmed/worried/distressed [because of their troubles], and they will never be forgotten [by other people].
7 He does not fear bad news; he is confident, trusting in Yahweh.
They are not afraid of [receiving] bad news; they confidently/completely trust in Yahweh.
8 His heart is tranquil, without fear, until he looks in triumph over his adversaries.
They are confident and not afraid, because they know that they will see [God defeat] their enemies.
9 He generously gives to the poor; his righteousness endures forever; he will be exalted with honor.
They give things generously to poor/needy [people]; [the results of] their kind deeds will endure forever, and they [will] be exalted and honored.
10 The wicked person will see this and be angry; he will grind his teeth in rage and he will melt away; the desire of the wicked people will perish.
Wicked people see those things and are angry; they gnash their teeth [angrily], but they [will] disappear [and die]. The [wicked] things that they want to do [will] never happen.
