< Psalms 106 >

1 Praise Yahweh. Give thanks to Yahweh, for he is good, for his covenant faithfulness endures forever.
Praise YAH, give thanks to YHWH, for [He is] good, for His kindness [is] for all time!
2 Who can recount the mighty acts of Yahweh or proclaim in full all his praiseworthy deeds?
Who utters the mighty acts of YHWH? Sounds all His praise?
3 Blessed are those who do what is right, and whose deeds are always just.
O the blessedness of those keeping judgment, Doing righteousness at all times.
4 Call me to mind, Yahweh, when you show favor to your people; help me when you save them.
Remember me, O YHWH, With the favor of Your people, Look after me in Your salvation.
5 Then I will see the prosperity of your chosen, rejoice in the gladness of your nation, and glory with your inheritance.
To look on the good of Your chosen ones, To rejoice in the joy of Your nation, To boast myself with Your inheritance.
6 We have sinned like our ancestors; we have done wrong, and we have done evil.
We have sinned with our fathers, We have done perversely, we have done wickedly.
7 Our fathers did not appreciate your marvelous deeds in Egypt; they ignored your many acts of covenant faithfulness; they were rebellious at the sea, the Sea of Reeds.
Our fathers in Egypt, Have not considered wisely Your wonders, They have not remembered The abundance of Your kind acts, And provoke by the sea, at the Sea of Suph.
8 Nevertheless, he saved them for his name's sake so that he might reveal his power.
And He saves them for His Name’s sake, To make His might known,
9 He rebuked the Sea of Reeds, and it dried up. Then he led them through the depths, as through a wilderness.
And rebukes the Sea of Suph, and it is dried up, And causes them to go Through depths as a wilderness.
10 He saved them from the hand of those who hated them, and he rescued them from the hand of the enemy.
And He saves them from the hand Of him who is hating, And redeems them from the hand of the enemy.
11 But the waters covered their adversaries; not one of them survived.
And waters cover their adversaries, One of them has not been left.
12 Then they believed his words, and they sang his praise.
And they believe in His words, they sing His praise,
13 But they quickly forgot what he had done; they did not wait for his instructions.
They have hurried—forgotten His works, They have not waited for His counsel.
14 They had insatiable cravings in the wilderness, and they challenged God in the desert.
And they lust greatly in a wilderness, And try God in a desert.
15 So he gave them what they requested, but he sent a horrible disease upon them.
And He gives to them their request, And sends leanness into their soul.
16 In the camp they became jealous of Moses and Aaron, the holy priest of Yahweh.
And they are envious of Moses in the camp, Of Aaron, YHWH’s holy one.
17 The earth opened and swallowed up Dathan and covered the followers of Abiram.
Earth opens, and swallows up Dathan, And covers over the company of Abiram.
18 Fire broke out among them; the fire consumed the wicked.
And fire burns among their company, A flame sets the wicked on fire.
19 They made a calf at Horeb and worshiped a cast metal figure.
They make a calf in Horeb, And bow themselves to a molten image,
20 They traded the glory of God for the image of a bull that eats grass.
And change their glory Into the form of an ox eating herbs.
21 They forgot God their Savior, who had done great deeds in Egypt.
They have forgotten God their Savior, The doer of great things in Egypt,
22 He had done wonderful things in the land of Ham and mighty acts at the Sea of Reeds.
Of wonderful things in the land of Ham, Of fearful things by the Sea of Suph.
23 So he said he would destroy them— had not Moses, his chosen one, stood in the breach before him, to turn away his anger from destroying them.
And He commands to destroy them, Unless Moses, His chosen one, Had stood in the breach before Him, To turn back His wrath from destroying.
24 Then they despised the fruitful land; they did not believe his promise,
And they kick against the desirable land, They have not given credence to His word.
25 but grumbled in their tents, and did not obey Yahweh.
And they murmur in their tents, They have not listened to the voice of YHWH.
26 Therefore he raised his hand and swore to them that he would let them die in the desert,
And He lifts up His hand to them, To cause them to fall in a wilderness,
27 scatter their descendants among the nations, and scatter them in foreign lands.
And to cause their seed to fall among nations, And to scatter them through lands.
28 They worshiped the Baal of Peor and ate the sacrifices offered to the dead.
And they are coupled to Ba‘al-Peor, And eat the sacrifices of the dead,
29 They provoked him to anger with their actions, and a plague broke out among them.
And they provoke to anger by their actions, And a plague breaks forth on them,
30 Then Phinehas rose to intervene, and the plague subsided.
And Phinehas stands, and executes judgment, And the plague is restrained,
31 It was counted to him as a righteous deed to all generations forever.
And it is reckoned to him for righteousness, From generation to generation—for all time.
32 They also angered Yahweh at the waters of Meribah, and Moses suffered because of them.
And they cause wrath by the waters of Meribah, And it is evil to Moses for their sakes,
33 They made Moses bitter, and he spoke rashly.
For they have provoked his spirit, And he speaks wrongfully with his lips.
34 They did not destroy the nations as Yahweh had commanded them,
They have not destroyed the peoples, As YHWH had commanded to them,
35 but they mingled with the nations and learned their ways
And mix themselves among nations, and learn their works,
36 and worshiped their idols, which became a snare to them.
And serve their idols, And they are for a snare to them.
37 They sacrificed their sons and their daughters to demons.
And they sacrifice their sons and their daughters to the demons,
38 They shed innocent blood, the blood of their sons and of their daughters, whom they sacrificed to the idols of Canaan, desecrating the land with blood.
And they shed innocent blood—Blood of their sons and of their daughters, Whom they have sacrificed to idols of Canaan, And the land is profaned with blood.
39 They were defiled by their deeds; in their actions they were like prostitutes.
And they are defiled with their works, And commit whoredom in their habitual doings.
40 So Yahweh was angry with his people, and he despised his own people.
And the anger of YHWH Is kindled against His people, And He detests His inheritance.
41 He gave them into the hand of the nations, and those who hated them ruled over them.
And gives them into the hand of nations, And those hating them rule over them,
42 Their enemies oppressed them, and they were brought into subjection to their authority.
And their enemies oppress them, And they are humbled under their hand.
43 Many times he came to help them, but they kept rebelling and were brought low by their own sin.
He delivers them many times, And they rebel in their counsel, And they are brought low in their iniquity.
44 Nevertheless, he paid attention to their distress when he heard their cry for help.
And He looks on their distress When He hears their cry,
45 He called to mind his covenant with them and relented because of his steadfast love.
And remembers His covenant for them, And is comforted, According to the abundance of His kindness.
46 He caused all their conquerers to have pity on them.
And He appoints them for mercies Before all their captors.
47 Save us, Yahweh, our God. Gather us from among the nations so that we may give thanks to your holy name and glory in your praises.
Save us, O our God YHWH, and gather us from the nations, To give thanks to Your Holy Name, To glory in Your praise.
48 May Yahweh, the God of Israel, be praised from everlasting to everlasting. All the people said, “Amen.” Praise Yahweh.
Blessed [is] YHWH, God of Israel, From age until age. And all the people said, “Amen, praise YAH!”
