< Psalms 104 >
1 I give praise to Yahweh with all my life, Yahweh my God, you are very magnificent; you are clothed with splendor and majesty.
My soule, prayse thou the Lord: O Lord my God, thou art exceeding great, thou art clothed with glorie and honour.
2 You cover yourself with light as with a garment; you spread out the heavens like a tent curtain.
Which couereth himselfe with light as with a garment, and spreadeth the heauens like a curtaine.
3 You lay the beams of your chambers on the clouds; you make the clouds your chariot; you walk on the wings of the wind.
Which layeth the beames of his chambers in the waters, and maketh the cloudes his chariot, and walketh vpon the wings of the winde.
4 He makes the winds his messengers, flames of fire his servants.
Which maketh his spirits his messengers, and a flaming fire his ministers.
5 He laid the foundations of the earth, and it will never be moved.
He set the earth vpon her foundations, so that it shall neuer moue.
6 You covered the earth with water like a garment; the water covered the mountains.
Thou coueredst it with the deepe as with a garment: the waters woulde stand aboue the mountaines.
7 Your rebuke made the waters recede; at the sound of your thunderous voice they fled.
But at thy rebuke they flee: at the voyce of thy thunder they haste away.
8 The mountains rose, and the valleys spread out into the places that you had appointed for them.
And the mountaines ascend, and the valleis descend to the place which thou hast established for them.
9 You have set a boundary for them that they will not cross; they will not cover the earth again.
But thou hast set them a bounde, which they shall not passe: they shall not returne to couer the earth.
10 He made springs flow into the valleys; the streams flow between the mountains.
He sendeth the springs into the valleis, which runne betweene the mountaines.
11 They supply water for all the animals of the field; the wild donkeys quench their thirst.
They shall giue drinke to all the beasts of the fielde, and the wilde asses shall quench their thirst.
12 By the riverbanks the birds build their nests; they sing among the branches.
By these springs shall the foules of the heauen dwell, and sing among the branches.
13 He waters the mountains from his water chambers in the sky. The earth is filled with the fruit of his labor.
He watereth the mountaines from his chambers, and the earth is filled with the fruite of thy workes.
14 He makes the grass grow for the cattle and plants for man to cultivate so that man may produce food from the earth.
He causeth grasse to growe for the cattell, and herbe for the vse of man, that he may bring forth bread out of the earth,
15 He makes wine to make man happy, oil to make his face shine, and food to sustain his life.
And wine that maketh glad the heart of man, and oyle to make the face to shine, and bread that strengtheneth mans heart.
16 The trees of Yahweh get plenty of rain; the cedars of Lebanon which he planted.
The high trees are satisfied, euen the cedars of Lebanon, which he hath planted,
17 There the birds make their nests. The stork makes the cypress tree her home.
That ye birdes may make their nestes there: the storke dwelleth in the firre trees.
18 The wild goats live on the high mountains; the mountain heights are a refuge for the hyraxes.
The high mountaines are for the goates: the rockes are a refuge for the conies.
19 He appointed the moon to mark the seasons; the sun knows its time for setting.
He appoynted the moone for certaine seasons: the sunne knoweth his going downe.
20 You make the darkness of the night when all the beasts of the forest come out.
Thou makest darkenesse, and it is night, wherein all the beastes of the forest creepe forth.
21 The young lions roar for their prey and seek their food from God.
The lions roare after their praye, and seeke their meate at God.
22 When the sun rises, they retreat and sleep in their dens.
When the sunne riseth, they retire, and couche in their dennes.
23 Meanwhile, people go out to their work and labor away until the evening.
Then goeth man forth to his worke, and to his labour vntill the euening.
24 Yahweh, how many and varied are your works! With wisdom you made them all; the earth overflows with your works.
O Lord, howe manifolde are thy workes! in wisdome hast thou made them all: the earth is full of thy riches.
25 Over there is the sea, deep and wide, teeming with innumerable creatures, both small and great.
So is this sea great and wide: for therein are things creeping innumerable, both small beastes and great.
26 The ships travel there, and Leviathan is also there, which you formed to play in the sea.
There goe the shippes, yea, that Liuiathan, whom thou hast made to play therein.
27 All these look to you to give them their food on time.
All these waite vpon thee, that thou maiest giue them foode in due season.
28 When you give to them, they gather; when you open your hand, they are satisfied.
Thou giuest it to them, and they gather it: thou openest thine hand, and they are filled with good things.
29 When you hide your face, they are troubled; if you take away their breath, they die and return to dust.
But if thou hide thy face, they are troubled: if thou take away their breath, they dye and returne to their dust.
30 When you send out your Spirit, they are created, and you renew the countryside.
Againe if thou send forth thy spirit, they are created, and thou renuest the face of the earth.
31 May the glory of Yahweh last forever; may Yahweh enjoy his creation.
Glory be to the Lord for euer: let the Lord reioyce in his workes.
32 He looks down on the earth, and it shakes; he touches the mountains, and they smoke.
He looketh on the earth and it trembleth: he toucheth the mountaines, and they smoke.
33 I will sing to Yahweh all my life; I will sing praise to my God as long as I live.
I will sing vnto the Lord all my life: I will prayse my God, while I liue.
34 May my thoughts be sweet to him; I will rejoice in Yahweh.
Let my wordes be acceptable vnto him: I will reioyce in the Lord.
35 May sinners vanish from the earth, and let the wicked be no more. I give praise to Yahweh with all my life. Praise Yahweh.
Let the sinners be consumed out of the earth, and the wicked till there be no more: O my soule, prayse thou the Lord. Prayse ye the Lord.
