< Proverbs 29 >

1 A person who has received many rebukes but who stiffens his neck will be broken in a moment beyond healing.
viro qui corripientem dura cervice contemnit repentinus superveniet interitus et eum sanitas non sequitur
2 When righteous people increase, the people rejoice, but when a wicked person is the ruler, the people sigh.
in multiplicatione iustorum laetabitur vulgus cum impii sumpserint principatum gemet populus
3 Whoever loves wisdom makes his father rejoice, but he who keeps company with prostitutes destroys his wealth.
vir qui amat sapientiam laetificat patrem suum qui autem nutrit scorta perdet substantiam
4 The king establishes the land by justice, but the one who demands bribes tears it down.
rex iustus erigit terram vir avarus destruet eam
5 A man who flatters his neighbor is spreading a net for his feet.
homo qui blandis fictisque sermonibus loquitur amico suo rete expandit gressibus eius
6 In the sin of an evil person is a trap, but the righteous person sings and rejoices.
peccantem virum iniquum involvet laqueus et iustus laudabit atque gaudebit
7 The righteous person knows the rights of the poor; the wicked person does not understand such knowledge.
novit iustus causam pauperum impius ignorat scientiam
8 Mockers set a city on fire, but those who are wise turn away wrath.
homines pestilentes dissipant civitatem sapientes avertunt furorem
9 When a wise person has an argument with a fool, he rages and laughs, and there will be no rest.
vir sapiens si cum stulto contenderit sive irascatur sive rideat non inveniet requiem
10 The bloodthirsty hate the one who is blameless and seek the life of the upright.
viri sanguinum oderunt simplicem iusti quaerunt animam eius
11 A fool reveals all his anger, but a wise man holds it back and calms himself down.
totum spiritum suum profert stultus sapiens differt et reservat in posterum
12 If a ruler pays attention to lies, all his officials will be wicked.
princeps qui libenter audit verba mendacii omnes ministros habebit impios
13 The poor person and the oppressor are similar, for Yahweh gives light to the eyes of them both.
pauper et creditor obviam fuerunt sibi utriusque inluminator est Dominus
14 If a king judges the poor by the truth, his throne will be established forever.
rex qui iudicat in veritate pauperes thronus eius in aeternum firmabitur
15 The rod and reproof give wisdom, but a child freed from discipline puts his mother to shame.
virga atque correptio tribuet sapientiam puer autem qui dimittitur voluntati suae confundet matrem suam
16 When wicked people are in power, transgression increases, but righteous people will see the downfall of those wicked people.
in multiplicatione impiorum multiplicabuntur scelera et iusti ruinas eorum videbunt
17 Discipline your son and he will give you rest; he will bring delights into your life.
erudi filium tuum et refrigerabit te et dabit delicias animae tuae
18 Where there is no prophetic vision the people run wild, but the one who keeps the law is blessed.
cum prophetia defecerit dissipabitur populus qui custodit legem beatus est
19 A slave will not be corrected by words, for though he understands, there will be no response.
servus verbis non potest erudiri quia quod dicis intellegit et respondere contemnit
20 See a man who is hasty in his words? There is more hope for a fool than for him.
vidisti hominem velocem ad loquendum stulti magis speranda est quam illius correptio
21 One who pampers his slave from youth, at the end of it there will be trouble.
qui delicate a pueritia nutrit servum suum postea illum sentiet contumacem
22 An angry person stirs up strife and a master of rage commits many sins.
vir iracundus provocat rixas et qui ad indignandum facilis est erit ad peccata proclivior
23 A person's pride brings him low, but one who has a humble spirit will be given honor.
superbum sequitur humilitas et humilem spiritu suscipiet gloria
24 One who shares with a thief hates his own life; he hears the curse and says nothing.
qui cum fure partitur odit animam suam adiurantem audit et non indicat
25 The fear of man makes a snare, but the one who trusts in Yahweh will be protected.
qui timet hominem cito corruet qui sperat in Domino sublevabitur
26 Many are those who seek the face of the ruler, but from Yahweh is justice for a person.
multi requirunt faciem principis et a Domino iudicium egreditur singulorum
27 An unjust man is an abomination to righteous people, but the one whose way is upright is detestable to the wicked person.
abominantur iusti virum impium et abominantur impii eos qui in recta sunt via
