< Proverbs 16 >
1 The plans of the heart belong to a person, but from Yahweh comes the answer from his tongue.
Del hombre son los planes del corazón, Pero de Yavé la respuesta de la boca.
2 All of a person's ways are pure in his own eyes, but Yahweh weighs the spirits.
Al hombre le parecen limpios todos sus caminos, Pero Yavé pesa los espíritus.
3 Commit your works to Yahweh and your plans will succeed.
Encomienda a Yavé tus obras, Y tus pensamientos serán afirmados.
4 Yahweh has made everything for its purpose, even the wicked for the day of trouble.
Yavé mismo hizo todas las cosas para Él, Aun al perverso para el día malo.
5 Yahweh hates everyone who has an arrogant heart, but be sure of this, they will not go unpunished.
Repugnancia es a Yavé todo altivo de corazón, Ciertamente no quedará impune.
6 By covenant faithfulness and trustworthiness iniquity is atoned for and by the fear of Yahweh people turn away from evil.
Por la misericordia y la verdad se borra la iniquidad, Y por el temor a Yavé se aparta uno del mal.
7 When a person's ways are pleasing to Yahweh, he makes even that person's enemies to be at peace with him.
Cuando los caminos del hombre agradan a Yavé, Él hace que aun sus enemigos estén en paz con él.
8 Better is a little with what is right, than a large income with injustice.
Mejor es un poco con justicia, Que gran ganancia con injusticia.
9 In his heart a person plans out his way, but Yahweh directs his steps.
El corazón del hombre traza su camino, Pero Yavé afirma sus pasos.
10 Insightful decisions are on the lips of a king, his mouth should not betray justice.
Hay una decisión divina en los labios del rey: Que su boca no yerre en la sentencia.
11 Honest scales come from Yahweh; all the weights in the bag are his work.
Peso y balanzas justas son de Yavé. Todas las pesas de la bolsa son obra suya.
12 When kings do wicked things, that is something to be despised, for a throne is established by doing what is right.
Repugnancia es que los reyes cometan perversidad, Porque el trono se afianza con la justicia.
13 A king delights in lips that say what is right and he loves the one who speaks directly.
Los reyes aprueban los labios sinceros, Y aman al que habla lo recto.
14 A king's wrath is a messenger of death but a wise man will try to calm his anger.
La ira del rey es mensajero de muerte, Pero el hombre sabio lo apaciguará.
15 In the light of a king's face is life and his favor is like a cloud that brings a spring rain.
En la serenidad del rostro del rey está la vida, Y su favor es como nube de lluvia tardía.
16 How much better it is to get wisdom than gold. To get understanding should be chosen more than silver.
Mejor es adquirir sabiduría que oro, Y obtener entendimiento es más que plata.
17 The highway of upright people turns away from evil; the one who protects his life guards his way.
El camino de los rectos es apartarse del mal, El que guarda su camino preserva su vida.
18 Pride comes before destruction and a haughty spirit before a downfall.
Antes del quebrantamiento está la soberbia, Y antes de la caída, la altivez de espíritu.
19 It is better to be humble among poor people than to divide the spoil with proud people.
Es mejor ser humilde de espíritu con los humildes Que repartir despojos con los soberbios.
20 Whoever contemplates what they are taught will find what is good, and those who trust in Yahweh will be blessed.
El que atiende la palabra hallará el bien, Y el que confía en Yavé es inmensamente feliz.
21 The one who is wise in heart is called discerning and sweetness of speech improves the ability to teach.
El sabio de corazón será llamado entendido, Y la dulzura de labios aumenta el saber.
22 Understanding is a fountain of life to the one who has it, but the instruction of fools is their foolishness.
Manantial de vida es el entendimiento para el que lo posee, Pero el castigo de los necios es su misma necedad.
23 The heart of a wise person gives insight to his mouth and adds persuasiveness to his lips.
El corazón del sabio muestra prudente su boca, Y sus labios aumentan el saber.
24 Pleasant words are a honeycomb— sweet to the soul and healing to the bones.
Panal de miel son las palabras agradables. Dulces para el alma y saludables para los huesos.
25 There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way to death.
Hay camino que al hombre [parece] derecho, Pero su fin es camino de muerte.
26 The laborer's appetite works for him; his hunger urges him on.
La persona que labora para ella misma Trabaja porque su boca lo obliga.
27 A worthless person digs up mischief and his speech is like a scorching fire.
El hombre perverso desentierra el mal, Y lleva en sus labios fuego abrasador.
28 A perverse person stirs up conflict and a gossip separates close friends.
El hombre perverso provoca contienda, Y el chismoso separa a los mejores amigos.
29 A man of violence lies to his neighbor and leads him down a path that is not good.
El hombre violento persuade a su amigo, Y lo hace andar por camino no bueno,
30 The one who winks the eye is plotting perverse things; those who purse the lips will bring evil to pass.
El que guiña los ojos trama perversidades, El que frunce los labios realiza el mal.
31 Gray hair is a crown of glory; it is gained by living the right way.
Corona de honra es la cabeza cana, Se halla en el camino de la justicia.
32 It is better to be slow to anger than to be a warrior and one who rules his spirit is stronger than one who conquers a city.
El lento para la ira es mejor que el valiente, Y el que domina su espíritu que el que captura una ciudad.
33 The lots are cast into the lap, but the decision is from Yahweh.
Las suertes se echan sobre la ropa, Pero toda decisión es de Yavé.
