1 A wise son hears his father's instruction, but a mocker will not listen to rebuke.
O filho sabio ouve a correcção do pae; mas o escarnecedor não ouve a reprehensão.
2 From the fruit of his mouth a person enjoys good things, but the appetite of the treacherous is for violence.
Do fructo da bocca cada um comerá o bem, mas a alma dos prevaricadores comerá a violencia.
3 The one who guards his mouth protects his life, but the one who opens wide his lips will ruin himself.
O que guarda a sua bocca conserva a sua alma, mas o que dilata os seus labios tem perturbação.
4 The appetite of lazy people craves but gets nothing, but the appetite of diligent people will be richly satisfied.
A alma do preguiçoso deseja, e coisa nenhuma alcança, mas a alma dos diligentes se engorda.
5 The righteous person hates lies, but a wicked person makes himself repugnant, and he does what is shameful.
O justo aborrece a palavra de mentira, mas o impio se faz vergonha, e se confunde.
6 Righteousness protects those who are faultless in their path, but wickedness turns away those who commit sin.
A justiça guarda ao sincero de caminho, mas a impiedade transtornará o peccador.
7 There is someone who enriches himself, but has nothing at all, and there is someone who gives everything away, yet is truly wealthy.
Ha alguns que se fazem ricos, e não teem coisa nenhuma, e outros que se fazem pobres e teem muita fazenda.
8 The ransom of a rich man's life is his wealth, but a poor person does not hear a threat.
O resgate da vida de cada um são as suas riquezas, mas o pobre não ouve as ameaças.
9 The light of righteous people rejoices, but the lamp of wicked people will be put out.
A luz dos justos alegra, mas a candeia dos impios se apagará.
10 Pride only breeds conflict, but for those who listen to good advice there is wisdom.
Da soberba só provém a contenda, mas com os que se aconselham se acha a sabedoria.
11 Wealth dwindles away when there is too much vanity, but the one who makes money by working with his hand will make his money grow.
A fazenda que procede da vaidade se diminuirá, mas quem a ajunta com a mão a augmentará.
12 When hope is postponed, it breaks the heart, but a longing fulfilled is a tree of life.
A esperança deferida enfraquece o coração, mas o desejo chegado é arvore de vida.
13 Whoever despises instruction brings destruction on himself, but he who respects the commandment will be rewarded.
O que despreza a palavra perecerá, mas o que teme o mandamento será galardoado.
14 The teaching of a wise person is a fountain of life, turning you away from the snares of death.
A doutrina do sabio é uma fonte de vida para se desviar dos laços da morte.
15 Good insight wins favor, but the way of the treacherous is never-ending.
O bom entendimento dá graça, mas o caminho dos prevaricadores é aspero.
16 Prudent people act out of knowledge in every decision, but a fool parades his folly.
Todo o prudente obra com conhecimento, mas o tolo espraia a sua loucura.
17 A wicked messenger falls into trouble, but a faithful envoy brings reconciliation.
O impio mensageiro cae no mal, mas o embaixador fiel é saude.
18 The one who ignores instruction will have poverty and shame, but honor will come to him who learns from correction.
Pobreza e affronta virão ao que rejeita a correcção, mas o que guarda a reprehensão será venerado.
19 A longing realized is sweet to the appetite, but fools hate to turn away from evil.
O desejo que se cumpre deleita a alma, mas apartar-se do mal é abominavel para os loucos.
20 Walk with wise people and you will be wise, but the companion of fools will suffer harm.
O que anda com os sabios, ficará sabio, mas o companheiro dos tolos soffrerá severamente.
21 Disaster runs after sinners, but righteous people are rewarded with good.
O mal perseguirá aos peccadores, mas os justos serão galardoados com bem.
22 A good person leaves an inheritance for his grandchildren, but a sinner's wealth is stored up for the righteous person.
O homem de bem deixa uma herança aos filhos de seus filhos, mas a fazenda do peccador se deposita para o justo.
23 An unplowed field owned by the poor could produce much food, but it is swept away by injustice.
A lavoura dos pobres dá abundancia de mantimento, mas alguns ha que se consomem por falta de juizo.
24 The one who does not discipline his son hates him, but one who loves his son is careful to instruct him.
O que retem a sua vara aborrece a seu filho, mas o que o ama madruga a castigal-o.
25 The righteous person eats until he satisfies his appetite, but the stomach of the wicked is always hungry.
O justo come até fartar-se a sua alma, mas o ventre dos impios terá necessidade.
