< Proverbs 13 >

1 A wise son hears his father's instruction, but a mocker will not listen to rebuke.
Omwana omugezi assaayo omwoyo eri ebiragiro bya kitaawe, naye omunyoomi tafaayo ku kunenyezebwa.
2 From the fruit of his mouth a person enjoys good things, but the appetite of the treacherous is for violence.
Omuntu asanyuka olw’ebirungi ebiva mu bibala bya kamwa ke, naye atali mwesigwa yeegomba kuleeta ntalo.
3 The one who guards his mouth protects his life, but the one who opens wide his lips will ruin himself.
Oyo eyeegendereza by’ayogera akuuma obulamu bwe, naye oyo amala googera, alizikirira.
4 The appetite of lazy people craves but gets nothing, but the appetite of diligent people will be richly satisfied.
Omuntu omugayaavu yeegomba kyokka n’atabaako ky’afuna, naye omunyiikivu byayagala byonna abifuna.
5 The righteous person hates lies, but a wicked person makes himself repugnant, and he does what is shameful.
Omuntu omutuukirivu akyawa obulimba, naye omukozi w’ebibi yeereetera kunyoomebwa.
6 Righteousness protects those who are faultless in their path, but wickedness turns away those who commit sin.
Obutuukirivu bukuuma omuntu omwesimbu, naye okukola ebibi kuzikiriza omwonoonyi.
7 There is someone who enriches himself, but has nothing at all, and there is someone who gives everything away, yet is truly wealthy.
Omuntu omu ayinza okwefuula omugagga ate nga taliiko ky’alina, ate omulala ne yeefuula okuba omwavu so nga mugagga nnyo.
8 The ransom of a rich man's life is his wealth, but a poor person does not hear a threat.
Obugagga bw’omuntu buyinza okumununula, naye omwavu talina ky’atya.
9 The light of righteous people rejoices, but the lamp of wicked people will be put out.
Ekitangaala ky’abatuukirivu kyaka nnyo, naye ettaala y’abakozi b’ebibi ezikira.
10 Pride only breeds conflict, but for those who listen to good advice there is wisdom.
Amalala gazaala buzaazi nnyombo, naye amagezi gasangibwa mu abo abakkiriza okulabulwa.
11 Wealth dwindles away when there is too much vanity, but the one who makes money by working with his hand will make his money grow.
Ensimbi enkumpanye ziggwaawo, naye ezijja empolampola zeeyongera obungi.
12 When hope is postponed, it breaks the heart, but a longing fulfilled is a tree of life.
Essuubi erirwawo okutuukirira lirwaza omutima, naye ekyegombebwa bwe kituukirira kiba muti gwa bulamu.
13 Whoever despises instruction brings destruction on himself, but he who respects the commandment will be rewarded.
Omuntu anyooma ebiragiro aligwa mu mitawaana, naye oyo awuliriza ebimulagirwa aliweebwa empeera.
14 The teaching of a wise person is a fountain of life, turning you away from the snares of death.
Okuyigiriza kw’omuntu alina amagezi nsulo ya bulamu, era kuggya omuntu mu mitego gy’okufa.
15 Good insight wins favor, but the way of the treacherous is never-ending.
Okutegeera okulungi kuleeta okuganja, naye ekkubo ly’abateesigibwa liba zzibu.
16 Prudent people act out of knowledge in every decision, but a fool parades his folly.
Omuntu omwegendereza akola amaze kulowooza, naye omusirusiru alaga obutamanya bwe.
17 A wicked messenger falls into trouble, but a faithful envoy brings reconciliation.
Omubaka omubi yeesuula mu mitawaana, naye omubaka omwesigwa aleeta kuwonyezebwa.
18 The one who ignores instruction will have poverty and shame, but honor will come to him who learns from correction.
Anyooma okukangavvulwa yeereetako obwavu n’obuswavu, naye oyo assaayo omwoyo ku kunenyezebwa aweebwa ekitiibwa.
19 A longing realized is sweet to the appetite, but fools hate to turn away from evil.
Ekyegombebwa bwe kituukirira kisanyusa omutima, naye okulekayo okukola ebibi kya muzizo eri abasirusiru.
20 Walk with wise people and you will be wise, but the companion of fools will suffer harm.
Oyo atambula n’abantu abagezi ageziwala, naye oyo atambula n’abasirusiru alaba ennaku.
21 Disaster runs after sinners, but righteous people are rewarded with good.
Emitawaana gigoberera aboonoonyi, naye okukulaakulana y’empeera y’abatuukirivu.
22 A good person leaves an inheritance for his grandchildren, but a sinner's wealth is stored up for the righteous person.
Omuntu omulungi alekera bazzukulu be ebyobusika, naye obugagga bw’omwonoonyi buterekerwa omutuukirivu.
23 An unplowed field owned by the poor could produce much food, but it is swept away by injustice.
Ennimiro z’abaavu ziyinza okuvaamu emmere nnyingi, naye obutali bwenkanya ne bugyera yonna.
24 The one who does not discipline his son hates him, but one who loves his son is careful to instruct him.
Atakozesa kaggo akyawa omwana we, naye oyo amwagala afaayo okumukangavvula.
25 The righteous person eats until he satisfies his appetite, but the stomach of the wicked is always hungry.
Omutuukirivu alya emmere ye n’akkuta, naye abakozi b’ebibi basigala nga bayala.
