Proverbs 11
1 Yahweh hates scales that are not accurate, but he delights in a precise weight.
La balanza falsa es repugnancia a Yavé, Pero la pesa cabal es su complacencia.
2 When pride comes, then comes disgrace, but with humility comes wisdom.
Cuando irrumpe la soberbia, viene la deshonra, Pero la sabiduría está con los humildes.
3 The integrity of the upright guides them, but the crooked ways of the treacherous destroy them.
La integridad de los rectos los guía, Pero la perversidad de los infieles los destruirá.
4 Wealth is worthless on the day of wrath, but doing right keeps you from death.
De nada sirven las riquezas en el día de la ira, Pero la justicia librará de la muerte.
5 The right conduct of a blameless person makes his way straight, but the wicked will fall because of their own wickedness.
La justicia del intachable le allana el camino, Pero el perverso caerá por su propia perversidad.
6 The right conduct of those who please God keeps them safe, but the treacherous are trapped by their cravings.
La rectitud del justo lo librará, Pero el traidor quedará atrapado en su codicia.
7 When a wicked man dies, his hope perishes and the hope that was in his strength comes to nothing.
Cuando muere el impío, perece su esperanza. La esperanza de los hombres fuertes perecerá.
8 The righteous person is kept away from trouble and it comes upon the wicked instead.
El justo es librado de la tribulación, Pero el perverso toma su lugar.
9 With his mouth the godless person destroys his neighbor, but through knowledge righteous people are kept safe.
El impío hunde al prójimo con su boca, Pero los justos serán librados por medio del conocimiento.
10 When righteous people prosper, a city rejoices; when the wicked perish, there are shouts of joy.
La ciudad festeja el éxito de los justos, Y cuando perecen los impíos canta de júbilo.
11 Through the good gifts of those who please God, the city becomes great; by the mouth of the wicked, the city is torn down.
Con la bendición de los rectos la ciudad prospera, Pero la boca de los perversos la arruina.
12 The man who has contempt for his friend has no sense, but a man of understanding keeps quiet.
El que desprecia al prójimo no tiene juicio, Pero el hombre de entendimiento calla.
13 Whoever goes around slandering reveals secrets, but a faithful person keeps a matter covered.
El que anda chismeando revela secretos, Pero el hombre que es de espíritu fiel se guarda el asunto.
14 Where there is no wise direction, a nation falls, but victory comes by consulting many advisors.
Cuando falta dirección, el pueblo cae, Pero en la multitud de consejeros hay liberación.
15 Whoever guarantees a loan for a stranger will surely suffer harm, but the one who hates giving a pledge in that kind of promise is safe.
El que sale fiador del extraño se perjudica, Pero el que aborrece ser garante vive seguro.
16 A gracious woman gets honor, but ruthless people grasp for wealth.
La mujer agraciada adquiere honra, Y los hombres audaces adquieren riquezas.
17 A kind person benefits himself, but one who is cruel hurts himself.
El misericordioso hace bien a su alma, Pero el cruel daña su propia carne.
18 The wicked person lies to get his wages, but one who sows what is right reaps the wages of truth.
El perverso logra ganancias engañosas, Pero el que siembra justicia tiene galardón seguro.
19 An honest person who does what is right will live, but the one who pursues evil will die.
La firmeza de rectitud es para vida, Pero el que sigue la perversidad busca su propia muerte.
20 Yahweh hates those whose hearts are perverse, but he delights in those whose ways are blameless.
Repugnancia a Yavé son los de corazón perverso, Pero los de camino intachable son su deleite.
21 Be sure of this—the wicked person will not go unpunished, but the descendants of righteous people will be kept safe.
Con toda certeza, el malo no quedará sin castigo, Pero la descendencia de los justos será librada.
22 Like a gold ring in a pig's nose is a beautiful woman without discretion.
Como anillo de oro en el hocico de un cerdo, Es la mujer hermosa que carece de discreción.
23 The desires of righteous people result in good, but wicked people can only hope for wrath.
El anhelo de los justos es solo el bien, Pero la expectativa de los impíos es ira.
24 There is one who scatters—he will accumulate even more; another withholds what he should give—he comes to poverty.
Hay quienes reparten, Y más se les añade. Hay quienes retienen más de lo justo, Y acaban en la indigencia.
25 The generous person will prosper and the one who gives water to others will have water for himself.
El alma generosa será enriquecida, Y el que sacia a otros, también será saciado.
26 People curse the man who refuses to sell grain, but good gifts crown the head of him who sells it.
El pueblo lo maldecirá al que acapara grano, Pero la cabeza del que lo vende obtendrá bendición.
27 The one who diligently seeks good is also seeking favor, but the one who searches for evil will find it.
El que busca el bien, halla favor, Pero el que busca el mal, Éste le vendrá.
28 Those who trust in their riches will fall, but like the leaf, righteous people will flourish.
El que confía en sus riquezas caerá, Pero los justos reverdecerán como el follaje.
29 The one who brings trouble on his own household will inherit the wind and the fool will become a servant to the wise of heart.
El que perturba su casa, Heredará el viento, Y el necio será esclavo del sabio de corazón.
30 The righteous person will be like a tree of life, but violence takes away lives.
El fruto del justo es árbol de vida, Y el que gana almas es sabio.
31 Behold! The righteous person receives what he deserves; how much more the wicked and the sinner!
Si el justo será recompensado en la tierra, ¡Cuánto más el impío y el pecador!
