Proverbs 10
1 The proverbs of Solomon. A wise son makes his father rejoice but a foolish son brings grief to his mother.

2 Treasures accumulated by wickedness have no value, but doing what is right keeps you from death.
Unrecht Gut hilft nicht; aber Gerechtigkeit errettet vom Tode.
3 Yahweh does not let the soul of the righteous person go hungry, but he frustrates the cravings of the wicked.
Das Verlangen der Gerechten läßt der HERR nicht ungestillt; aber das Begehren der Gottlosen weist er ab.
4 A lazy hand causes a person to be poor, but the hand of the diligent person gains riches.
Nachlässigkeit macht arm; aber eine fleißige Hand macht reich.
5 A wise son gathers a crop in the summer, but it is disgraceful for him to sleep during harvest.
Wer im Sommer sammelt, ist ein kluger Sohn, wer aber in der Ernte schläft, ist ein Sohn, der Schande macht.
6 Gifts from God are upon the head of the righteous person, but the mouth of the wicked covers up violence.
Segnungen sind auf dem Haupte des Gerechten; aber der Mund der Gottlosen birgt Frevel.
7 The righteous person makes those who remember him happy, but the name of the wicked will rot away.
Das Gedächtnis des Gerechten bleibt im Segen; aber der Gottlosen Name wird verwesen.
8 Those who are sensible accept commands, but a talkative fool will come to ruin.
Wer weisen Herzens ist, nimmt Befehle an; aber ein Narrenmund richtet sich selbst zugrunde.
9 He who walks in integrity walks in safety, but the one who makes his ways crooked, he will be found out.
Wer ein gutes Gewissen hat, wandelt sicher; wer aber krumme Wege geht, verrät sich selbst.
10 He who winks the eye causes grief, but a talkative fool will be thrown down.
Wer mit den Augen zwinkert, verursacht Leid, und ein Narrenmund richtet sich selbst zugrunde.
11 The mouth of the righteous person is a water spring of life, but the mouth of the wicked covers up violence.
Der Mund des Gerechten ist eine Quelle des Lebens; aber der Gottlosen Mund birgt Gewalttat.
12 Hatred stirs up conflicts, but love covers over all offenses.
Haß erregt Hader; aber die Liebe deckt alle Übertretungen zu.
13 Wisdom is found on the lips of a discerning person, but a rod is for the back of the one who has no sense.
Auf den Lippen des Verständigen wird Weisheit gefunden; aber auf den Rücken des Narren gehört eine Rute.
14 Wise men store up knowledge, but the mouth of a fool brings destruction near.
Die Weisen sammeln ihr Wissen, die Lippen der Narren aber schnelles Verderben.
15 The wealth of a rich man is his fortified city; the poverty of the poor is their destruction.
Das Gut des Reichen ist seine feste Burg; das Unglück der Dürftigen aber ist ihre Armut.
16 The wage of the righteous person leads to life; the profit of the wicked leads them to sin.
Der Gerechte braucht seinen Erwerb zum Leben, der Gottlose sein Einkommen zur Sünde.
17 There is a path to life for the one who follows discipline, but the one who rejects correction is led astray.
Wer auf die Zucht achtet, geht den Weg zum Leben; wer aber aus der Schule läuft, gerät auf Irrwege.
18 Whoever conceals hatred has lying lips, and whoever spreads slander is a fool.
Wer Haß verbirgt, hat Lügenlippen, und wer Verleumdungen austrägt, ist ein Tor.
19 When there are many words, transgression is not lacking, but he who is careful in what he says is wise.
Wo viele Worte sind, da geht es ohne Sünde nicht ab; wer aber seine Lippen im Zaum hält, der ist klug.
20 The tongue of the righteous person is pure silver; there is little value in the heart of the wicked.
Des Gerechten Zunge ist auserlesenes Silber; das Herz der Gottlosen ist wenig wert.
21 The lips of the righteous person nourish many, but fools die because of their lack of sense.
Die Lippen des Gerechten erquicken viele; aber die Toren sterben am Unverstand.
22 The good gifts of Yahweh bring wealth and he adds no pain to it.
Der Segen des HERRN macht reich, und [eigene] Mühe fügt ihm nichts bei.
23 Wickedness is a game a fool plays, but wisdom is a pleasure to a man of understanding.
Dem Dummen macht es Vergnügen, Schandtaten zu verüben, dem Weisen aber, etwas Gescheites zu tun.
24 The fear of the wicked person will overtake him, but the desire of righteous people will be granted.
Was der Gottlose fürchtet, das wird ihm begegnen; der Gerechten Wunsch aber wird erfüllt.
25 The wicked are like the storm that passes by, and they are no more, but the righteous person is a foundation that lasts forever.
Wenn ein Sturm vorüberfährt, so ist der Gottlose nicht mehr da; der Gerechte aber ist für die Ewigkeit gegründet.
26 Like vinegar on the teeth and smoke in the eyes, so is the sluggard to those who send him.
Wie der Essig für die Zähne und der Rauch für die Augen, so ist der Faule für die, welche ihn senden.
27 The fear of Yahweh prolongs life, but the years of the wicked will be short.
Die Furcht des HERRN verlängert das Leben; aber die Jahre der Gottlosen werden verkürzt.
28 The hope of righteous people is their joy, but the years of wicked people will be short.
Das Warten der Gerechten wird Freude werden; aber die Hoffnung der Gottlosen wird verloren sein.
29 The way of Yahweh protects those who have integrity, but it is destruction for the wicked.
Der Weg des HERRN ist eine Schutzwehr für den Unschuldigen; den Übeltätern aber bringt er den Untergang.
30 The righteous person will never be overthrown, but the wicked will not remain in the land.
Der Gerechte wird ewiglich nicht wanken; aber die Gottlosen bleiben nicht im Lande.
31 Out of the mouth of the righteous person comes the fruit of wisdom, but the perverse tongue will be cut out.
Der Mund des Gerechten fließt über von Weisheit; aber die verdrehte Zunge wird ausgerottet.
32 The lips of the righteous person know what is acceptable, but the mouth of the wicked, they know what is perverse.
Die Lippen des Gerechten verkünden Gnade; aber der Gottlosen Mund macht Verkehrtheiten kund.
