Proverbs 1
1 The proverbs of Solomon son of David, the king of Israel.
Đây là những châm ngôn của Sa-lô-môn, con trai Đa-vít, vua Ít-ra-ên.
2 These proverbs are to teach wisdom and instruction, to teach words of insight,
Để người ta tìm đến khôn ngoan và tiếp thu lời khuyên dạy, cùng phân biện được tri thức.
3 that you may receive instruction in order to live by doing what is right, just, and fair.
Để đạt đến một đời sống kỷ luật và cẩn trọng, hành động phải lẽ, công bằng, và ngay thẳng.
4 These proverbs are also to give wisdom to the naive, and to give knowledge and discretion to young people.
Để giúp người đơn sơ được sáng suốt, và người trẻ tuổi hiểu biết và thận trọng.
5 Let wise people listen and increase their learning, and let discerning people get guidance,
Người khôn học hỏi châm ngôn để thêm khôn. Người hiểu biết thấy được đường đi nước bước
6 to understand proverbs, sayings, and words of wise people and their riddles.
nếu biết ứng dụng châm ngôn, ngụ ngôn dùng những lời khôn ngoan và những câu đố thâm trầm của hiền nhân.
7 The fear of Yahweh is the beginning of knowledge— fools despise wisdom and instruction.
Kính sợ Chúa Hằng Hữu là khởi đầu của mọi tri thức, chỉ có người dại mới coi thường khôn ngoan và huấn thị.
8 My son, hear the instruction of your father and do not lay aside the rules of your mother;
Con ơi, phải nghe lời cha khuyên dạy. Đừng bỏ khuôn phép của mẹ con.
9 they will be a graceful wreath for your head and pendants hanging from your neck.
Đó là trang sức duyên dáng trên đầu con và dây chuyền xinh đẹp nơi cổ con.
10 My son, if sinners try to entice you into their sin, refuse to follow them.
Con ơi, khi người tội lỗi quyến rũ, con đừng nghe theo!
11 If they say, “Come with us, let us lie in wait for blood, let us hide and attack innocent people for no reason.
Khi họ bảo: “Hãy đến với chúng ta. Rình rập và giết người! Lén hại người lương thiện vô tội!
12 Let us swallow them up alive, like Sheol takes away those who are healthy, and make them like those who fall into the pit. (Sheol h7585)
Ta sẽ nuốt sống nó như âm phủ; nuốt trọn như người xuống huyệt sâu. (Sheol h7585)
13 We shall find all kinds of valuable things; we will fill our houses with what we steal from others.
Ta sẽ lấy đủ mọi của báu. Chất của cướp đầy nhà.
14 Throw in your lot with us; we will all have one purse together.”
Bạn sẽ cùng chúng ta rút thăm chia của; rồi tất cả đều chung một túi tiền.”
15 My son, do not walk down that road with them; do not let your foot touch where they walk;
Thì con ơi, đừng nghe theo họ! Chân con phải tránh xa đường họ đi.
16 their feet run to evil and they hurry to shed blood.
Vì họ nhanh chân theo điều ác. Vội vàng ra tay đổ máu.
17 For it is useless to spread the net in the sight of any bird.
Khi người giăng lưới bắt chim, chim khôn bay thoát.
18 These men lie in wait for their own blood— they set an ambush for their own lives.
Nhưng bọn người này tự giăng bẫy; rồi sa vào bẫy do chính mình giăng ra.
19 So are the ways of everyone who gains riches by injustice; unjust gain takes away the lives of those who hold on to it.
Đó là số phận người ham lợi bất nghĩa; lợi ấy sẽ tiêu diệt mạng sống họ.
20 Wisdom cries aloud in the street, she raises her voice in the open places;
Khôn ngoan lên tiếng ngoài đường. Loan truyền khắp phố phường.
21 at the head of the noisy streets she cries out, at the entrance of the city gates she speaks,
Kêu gọi nơi công cộng, tại cổng thành, trong đô thị:
22 “How long, you naive people, will you love being naive? How long, you mockers, will you delight in mockery, and how long, you fools, will you hate knowledge?
“Hỡi người khờ dại, đến bao giờ ngươi mới thôi chìm đắm u mê? Đến khi nào người chế nhạo mới bỏ thói khinh khi? Và người dại thù ghét tri thức đến chừng nào?
23 Pay attention to my correction; I will pour out my thoughts to you; I will make my words known to you.
Hãy đến và nghe ta sửa dạy. Ta sẽ ban thần trí khôn ngoan để con thông suốt lời ta.
24 I have called, and you have refused to listen; I reached out with my hand, but there was no one who paid attention.
Nhưng, dù ta kêu gọi, các ngươi vẫn từ nan. Ta đưa tay chờ đợi, cũng không ai quan tâm.
25 But you have ignored all my instruction and paid no attention to my correction.
Không ai để ý lời ta khuyên răn hay chịu nghe lời ta quở trách.
26 I will laugh at your calamity, I will mock you when the terror comes—
Nên khi các người lâm nạn, ta sẽ cười! Và chế giễu khi các người kinh hãi—
27 when your fearful dread comes like a storm and disaster sweeps over you like a whirlwind, when distress and anguish come upon you.
khi kinh hoàng vụt đến tựa phong ba, khi tai ương xâm nhập như bão tố, và nguy nan cùng khổ ngập tràn.
28 Then they will call upon me, and I will not answer; they will desperately call for me, but they will not find me.
Họ sẽ kêu cầu ta, nhưng ta chẳng đáp lời. Họ sẽ tìm kiếm ta, nhưng không sao gặp được.
29 Because they hate knowledge and did not choose the fear of Yahweh,
Chính vì họ thù ghét tri thức và không chịu kính sợ Chúa Hằng Hữu.
30 they would not follow my instruction, and they despised all my correction.
Họ không muốn nghe ta khuyên dạy và khinh bỉ mọi lời quở trách.
31 They will eat the fruit of their ways, and with the fruit of their schemes they will be filled.
Vì thế, họ sẽ hứng chịu kết quả công việc mình, lãnh trọn quả báo mưu mô mình.
32 For the naive are killed when they turn away, and the indifference of fools will destroy them.
Người ngây thơ chết vì lầm đường lạc lối. Người dại dột bị diệt vì tự thị tự mãn.
33 But whoever listens to me will live in safety and will rest secure with no fear of disaster.”
Nhưng ai nghe ta sẽ sống bình an, không lo tai họa.”
