Numbers 36
1 Then the leaders of the ancestors' families of the clan of Gilead son of Machir (who was Manasseh's son), who were from the clans of the descendants of Joseph, came and spoke before Moses and before the leaders who were the heads of the ancestor's families of the people of Israel.
Och huvudmännen för familjerna i Gileads barns släkt -- Gileads, som var son till Makir, Manasses son, av Josefs barns släkter -- trädde fram och talade inför Mose och de hövdingar som voro huvudmän för Israels barns familjer.
2 They said, “Yahweh commanded you, our master, to give a share of land by lot to the people of Israel. You were commanded by Yahweh to give the share of Zelophehad our brother to his daughters.
De sade: "HERREN har bjudit min herre att genom lottkastning göra landet såsom arvedel åt Israels barn och HERREN har vidare bjudit min herre att giva Selofhads, vår broders, arvedel åt hans döttrar.
3 But if his daughters marry men in another tribe of the people of Israel, then their share of land will be removed from our ancestor's share. It will be added to the share of the tribes that they join. In that case, it will be removed from the assigned share of our inheritance.
Men om nu dessa bliva gifta med någon ur Israels barns andra stammar, så tages deras arvedel bort ifrån våra fäders arvedel, under det att den stam de komma att tillhöra får sin arvedel ökad; på detta sätt bliver en del av vår arvslott oss fråntagen.
4 In that case, when the year of Jubilee of the people of Israel comes, then their share will be joined to the share of the tribe that they have joined. In this way, their share will be taken away from the share of our ancestors' tribe.”
När sedan jubelåret inträder för Israels barn, bliver deras arvedel lagd till den stams arvedel, som de komma att tillhöra, men från vår fädernestams arvedel tages deras arvedel bort."
5 So Moses gave a command to the people of Israel, at Yahweh's word. He said, “What the tribe of Joseph's descendants says is right.

6 This is what Yahweh commands concerning Zelophehad's daughters. He says, 'Let them be married to whom they think best, but they must marry only within the family of their father's tribe.'
Detta är vad HERREN bjuder angående Selofhads döttrar; han säger: De må gifta sig med vem de finna för gott, allenast de gifta sig inom en släkt som hör till deras egen fädernestam.
7 No share of the people of Israel must change from one tribe to another. Each one of the people of Israel must continue with the share of his ancestor's tribe.
Ty en arvedel som tillhör någon, av Israels barn må icke gå över från en stam till en annan, utan Israels barn skola behålla kvar var och en sin fädernestams arvedel.
8 Every woman of the people of Israel who owns a share in her tribe must marry someone from the clans belonging to her father's tribe. This is so that everyone of the people of Israel may own an inheritance from his ancestors.
Och när en kvinna som inom någon av Israels barns stammar har kommit i besittning av en arvedel gifter sig, skall det vara med en man av någon släkt som hör till hennes egen fädernestam, så att Israels barn förbliva i besittning var och en av sina fäders arvedel.
9 No share may change hands from one tribe to another. Everyone of the tribes of the people of Israel must keep his own inheritance.”

10 So Zelophehad's daughters did as Yahweh had commanded Moses.
Selofhads döttrar gjorde såsom HERREN hade bjudit Mose.
11 Mahlah, Tirzah, Hoglah, Milkah, and Noah, the daughters of Zelophehad, married descendants of Manasseh.
Mahela, Tirsa, Hogla, Milka och Noa, Selofhads döttrar, gifte sig med sina farbröders söner.
12 They married into the clans of the descendants of Manasseh son of Joseph. In this way, their inheritances remained in the tribe to which their father's clan belonged.
De blevo alltså gifta inom Manasses, Josefs sons, barns släkter, och deras arvedel stannade så kvar inom deras fädernesläkts stam.
13 These are the commands and the decrees that Yahweh gave by Moses to the people of Israel in the plains of Moab by the Jordan at Jericho.
Dessa äro de bud och rätter som HERREN genom Mose gav Israels barn, på Moabs hedar, vid Jordan mitt emot Jeriko.
