< Numbers 15 >

1 Then Yahweh spoke to Moses. He said,
And the Lord spoke unto Moses, saying,
2 “Speak to the people of Israel and say to them, 'When you go into the land where you will live, which Yahweh will give to you,
Speak unto the children of Israel and say unto them, When ye shall have come into the land of your habitations, which I give unto you,
3 you are to prepare an offering by fire to Yahweh, either a burnt offering or a sacrifice to fulfill a vow or a freewill offering, or an offering at your feasts, to produce a pleasing aroma for Yahweh from the herd or the flock.
And ye will prepare a fire-offering unto the Lord, a burnt-offering, or a sacrifice, in performing a pronounced vow, or as a freewill-offering, or on your solemn feasts, to prepare a sweet savor unto the Lord, of the herds of the flocks:
4 You must offer to Yahweh a burnt offering as well as a grain offering of a tenth of an ephah of fine flour mixed with one-fourth of a hin of oil.
Then shall he that bringeth his offering unto the Lord, bring as a meat-offering a tenth part of fine flour mingled with the fourth of a hin of oil.
5 You must also offer with the burnt offering, or for the sacrifice, one-fourth of a hin of wine for the drink offering for each lamb.
And wine for a drink-offering, the fourth of a hin, shalt thou prepare with the burnt-offering or sacrifice, for each one sheep.
6 If you are offering a ram, you must prepare as a grain offering two-tenths of an ephah of fine flour mixed with a third of a hin of oil.
But for a ram, shalt thou prepare as a meat-offering two tenth parts of fine flour mingled with the third of a hin of oil.
7 For the drink offering, you must offer a third of a hin of wine. It will produce a sweet aroma for Yahweh.
And wine for the drink-offering, the third of a hin, shalt thou bring, for a sweet savor unto the Lord.
8 When you prepare a bull as a burnt offering or as a sacrifice to fulfill a vow, or as a fellowship offering to Yahweh,
And when thou preparest a bullock for a burnt-offering, or for a sacrifice, in performing a pronounced vow, or a peace-offering unto the Lord:
9 then you must offer with the bull a grain offering of three-tenths of an ephah of fine flour mixed with half a hin of oil.
Then shall he bring with the bullock as a meat-offering, three tenth parts of fine flour mingled with half a hin of oil.
10 You must offer as the drink offering half a hin of wine, as an offering made by fire, to produce a sweet aroma for Yahweh.
And wine shalt thou bring for a drink-offering, half a hin, as a fire-offering of a sweet savor unto the Lord.
11 It must be done this way for each bull, for each ram, and for each of the male lambs or young goats.
Thus shall it be done for each one bullock, or for each one ram, or for a lamb, be it of the sheep or of the goats.
12 Every sacrifice that you prepare and offer must be done as described here.
According to the number that ye may prepare, so shall ye do to every one according to their number.
13 All who are native-born Israelites must do these things in this way, when anyone brings an offering made by fire, to produce an aroma that is pleasing to Yahweh.
All that are born in the country shall do these things after this manner, in offering a fire-offering of a sweet savor unto the Lord.
14 If a foreigner is staying with you, or whoever may live among you throughout your people's generations, he must make an offering made by fire, to produce a sweet aroma for Yahweh. He must act as you act.
And if a stranger sojourn with you, or whosoever may be among you in your generations, and will make an offering made by fire, of a sweet savor unto the Lord: as ye do, so shall he do.
15 There must be the same law for the community and for the foreigner who stays with you, a permanent law throughout your people's generations. As you are, so also must be the traveler staying with you. He must act as you act before Yahweh.
Congregation! one statute shall be for you, and for the stranger that sojourneth: a statute for ever in your generations; as ye are, so shall the stranger be before the Lord.
16 The same law and decree must apply to you and to the foreigner who is staying with you.'”
One law and one code shall be for you, and for the stranger that sojourneth with you.
17 Again Yahweh spoke to Moses. He said,
And the Lord spoke unto Moses, saying,
18 “Speak to the people of Israel and say to them, 'When you come into the land where I will take you,
Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, When ye come into the land whither I bring you:
19 when you eat the food produced in the land, you must offer an offering and present it to me.
Then shall it be, that, when ye eat of the bread of the land, ye shall set aside a heave-offering unto the Lord.
20 From the first of your dough you must offer a loaf to raise it up as a raised offering from the threshing floor. You must raise it up in this way.
As the first of your doughs shall ye set aside a cake for a heave-offering; like the heave-offering of the threshing-floor, so shall ye set this aside.
21 You must give to me a raised offering throughout your people's generations from the first of your dough.
Of the first of your doughs shall ye give unto the Lord a heave-offering, in your generations.
22 You will sometimes sin without intending to do so, when you do not obey all these commands that I have spoken to Moses—
And if ye err, and do not observe all these commandments, which the Lord hath spoken unto Moses,
23 everything that I have commanded you through Moses from the day that I began to give you commands and onward throughout your people's generations.
All that the Lord hath commanded you by the hand of Moses, from the day that the Lord commanded [the same] and thenceforward, among your generations:
24 In the case of unintentional sin without the community's knowledge, then all the community must offer one young bull as a burnt offering to produce a sweet aroma for Yahweh. Along with this must be made a grain offering and drink offering, as commanded by the decree, and one male goat as a sin offering.
Then shall it be, if, through inadvertence of the congregation, it was committed by ignorance, that all the congregation shall prepare one young bullock for a burnt-offering, for a sweet savor unto the Lord, with his meat-offering, and his drink-offering, according to the prescribed manner, and one he-goat for a sin-offering.
25 The priest must make atonement for all the community of the people of Israel. They will be forgiven because the sin was an error. They have brought their sacrifice, an offering made by fire to me. They have brought their sin offering before me for their error.
And the priest shall make an atonement for all the congregation of the children of Israel, and it shall be forgiven unto them; for it is [a sin of] ignorance; and they have brought their offering, a sacrifice made by fire unto the Lord, and their sin-offering before the Lord, for their [sin of] ignorance:
26 Then all the community of the people of Israel will be forgiven, and also the foreigners who are staying with them, because all the people committed the sin unintentionally.
And it shall be forgiven unto all the congregation of the children of Israel, and unto the stranger that sojourneth among them; for by all the people [was it done] in ignorance.
27 If a person sins unintentionally, then he must offer a female goat a year old as a sin offering.
And if any person sin through ignorance, then shall he bring a she-goat of the first year for a sin-offering.
28 The priest must make atonement before Yahweh for the person who sins unintentionally. That person will be forgiven when atonement has been made.
And the priest shall make an atonement for the person that hath erred, in his sinning through ignorance before the Lord; to make an atonement for him, that it may be forgiven unto him.
29 You must have the same law for the one who does anything unintentionally, the same law for the one who is native born among the people of Israel and for the foreigners who are staying among them.
For the native born among the children of Israel, and for the stranger that sojourneth among them: —one law shall be for you, for him that acteth through ignorance.
30 But the person who does anything in defiance, whether he is native born or a foreigner, blasphemes me. That person must be cut off from among his people.
But the person that doth aught with a high hand, be he one born in the land, or a stranger, the same dishonoreth the Lord; and that person shall be cut off from among his people.
31 Because he has despised my word and has broken my commandment, that person must be cut off completely. His sin will be on him.'”
Because the word of the Lord hath he despised, and his commandment hath he broken; that person shall be cut off, his iniquity is upon him.
32 While the people of Israel were in the wilderness, they found a man gathering wood on the Sabbath day.
And while the children of Israel were in the wilderness, they found a man gathering sticks upon the sabbath-day.
33 Those who found him brought him to Moses, Aaron, and all the community.
And they that found him gathering sticks brought him for judgment unto Moses and Aaron, and unto all the congregation.
34 They kept him in custody because it had not been declared what should be done with him.
And they put him in ward; because it had not been declared what should be done to him.
35 Then Yahweh said to Moses, “The man must surely be put to death. All the community must stone him with stones outside the camp.”
And the Lord said unto Moses, The man shall be put to death: all the congregation shall stone him with stones without the camp.
36 So all the community brought him outside the camp and stoned him to death as Yahweh had commanded Moses.
And all the congregation brought him forth to without the camp, and they stoned him with stones, and he died; as the Lord had commanded Moses.
37 Again Yahweh spoke to Moses. He said,
And the Lord said unto Moses, as followeth,
38 “Speak to the descendants of Israel and command them to make for themselves tassels to hang from the borders of their garments, to hang them from each border by a blue cord. They must do this throughout their people's generations.
Speak unto the children of Israel, and say to them, that they shall make themselves fringes on the corners of their garments throughout their generations, and that they shall put upon the fringe of the corner a thread of blue:
39 It will be a special reminder to you, when you may look at it, of all my commandments, to carry them out so that you do not look to your own heart and your own eyes and prostitute yourselves to them.
And it shall be unto you for a fringe, that ye may look upon it, and remember all the commandments of the Lord, and do them; and that ye seek not after [the inclination of] your own heart and [the delight of] your eyes, in pursuit of which ye have been led astray.
40 Do this so that you may call to mind and obey all my commandments, and so that you may be holy, reserved for me, your God.
In order that ye may remember, and do all my commandments, and be holy unto your God.
41 I am Yahweh your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, to become your God. I am Yahweh your God.”
I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, to be your God: I am the Lord your God.
