Numbers 13
1 Then Yahweh spoke to Moses. He said,
೧ಯೆಹೋವನು ಮೋಶೆಯ ಸಂಗಡ ಮಾತನಾಡಿ ಹೇಳಿದ್ದೇನೆಂದರೆ,
2 “Send some men to examine the land of Canaan, which I have given to the people of Israel. Send a man from every tribe of their ancestors. Each man must be a leader among them.”
೨“ನಾನು ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರಿಗೆ ಕೊಡುವ ಕಾನಾನ್ ದೇಶವನ್ನು ಸಂಚರಿಸಿ ನೋಡುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ನೀನು ಒಂದೊಂದು ಕುಲದಿಂದ ಒಬ್ಬೊಬ್ಬ ಮುಖ್ಯಸ್ಥನನ್ನು ಕಳುಹಿಸಬೇಕು” ಎಂದು ಆಜ್ಞಾಪಿಸಿದನು.
3 Moses sent them from the wilderness of Paran, so that they might obey Yahweh's command. All of them were leaders among the people of Israel.
೩ಯೆಹೋವನ ಅಪ್ಪಣೆಯ ಮೇರೆಗೆ ಮೋಶೆ ಪಾರಾನ್ ಅರಣ್ಯದಿಂದ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರ ಮುಖ್ಯಸ್ಥರನ್ನು ಕಳುಹಿಸಿದನು.
4 These were their names: from the tribe of Reuben, Shammua son of Zaccur;
೪ಅವರ ಹೆಸರುಗಳು ಯಾವುವೆಂದರೆ: ರೂಬೇನ್ ಕುಲದ ಜಕ್ಕೂರನ ಮಗನಾದ ಶಮ್ಮೂವ,
5 from the tribe of Simeon, Shaphat son of Hori;
೫ಸಿಮೆಯೋನ್ ಕುಲದ ಹೋರಿಯನ ಮಗನಾದ ಶಾಫಾಟ್,
6 from the tribe of Judah, Caleb son of Jephunneh;
೬ಯೆಹೂದ ಕುಲದ ಯೆಫುನ್ನೆಯನ ಮಗನಾದ ಕಾಲೇಬ್,
7 from the tribe of Issachar, Igal son of Joseph;
೭ಇಸ್ಸಾಕಾರ್ ಕುಲದ ಯೋಸೇಫನ ಮಗನಾದ ಇಗಾಲ್,
8 from the tribe of Ephraim, Hoshea son of Nun;
೮ಎಫ್ರಾಯೀಮ್ ಕುಲದ ನೂನನ ಮಗನಾದ ಹೋಶೇಯ,
9 from the tribe of Benjamin, Palti son of Raphu;
೯ಬೆನ್ಯಾಮೀನ್ ಕುಲದ ರಾಫೂವನ ಮಗನಾದ ಪಲ್ಟೀ,
10 from the tribe of Zebulun, Gaddiel son of Sodi;
೧೦ಜೆಬುಲೂನ್ ಕುಲದ ಸೋದೀಯನ ಮಗನಾದ ಗದ್ದೀಯೇಲ್,
11 from the tribe of Joseph (that is to say, from the tribe Manasseh), Gaddi son of Susi;
೧೧ಯೋಸೇಫ್ ಅಂದರೆ ಮನಸ್ಸೆ ಕುಲದ ಸೂಸೀಯನ ಮಗನಾದ ಗದ್ದೀ,
12 from the tribe of Dan, Ammiel son of Gemalli;
೧೨ದಾನ್ ಕುಲದ ಗೆಮಲ್ಲೀಯನ ಮಗನಾದ ಅಮ್ಮೀಯೇಲ್,
13 from the tribe of Asher, Sethur son of Michael;
೧೩ಆಶೇರ್ ಕುಲದ ಮೀಕಾಯೇಲನ ಮಗನಾದ ಸೆತೂರ್,
14 from the tribe of Naphtali, Nahbi son of Vophsi;
೧೪ನಫ್ತಾಲಿ ಕುಲದ ವಾಪೆಸೀಯನ ಮಗನಾದ ನಹಬೀ,
15 from the tribe of Gad, Geuel son of Maki.
೧೫ಗಾದ್ ಕುಲದ ಮಾಕೀಯನ ಮಗನಾದ ಗೆಯೂವೇಲ್.
16 These were the names of the men whom Moses sent to examine the land. Moses called Hoshea son of Nun by the name of Joshua.
೧೬ದೇಶವನ್ನು ಸಂಚರಿಸಿ ನೋಡುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಮೋಶೆ ಕಳುಹಿಸಿದ ಮನುಷ್ಯರ ಹೆಸರುಗಳು ಇವೇ. ಮೋಶೆ ನೂನನ ಮಗನಾದ ಹೋಶೇಯನಿಗೆ ಯೆಹೋಶುವನೆಂದು ಹೆಸರಿಟ್ಟನು.
17 Moses sent them to examine the land of Canaan. He said to them, “Approach from the Negev and go up into the hill country.
೧೭ಕಾನಾನ್ ದೇಶದಲ್ಲಿ ಸಂಚರಿಸಿ ನೋಡುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಮೋಶೆ ಅವರನ್ನು ಕಳುಹಿಸುವಾಗ ಅವರಿಗೆ, “ನೀವು ಕಾನಾನ್ ದೇಶದ ದಕ್ಷಿಣ ಪ್ರಾಂತ್ಯದ ಮಾರ್ಗವಾಗಿ ಬೆಟ್ಟದ ಸೀಮೆಗೆ ಹತ್ತಿಹೋಗಿ ಆ ದೇಶದ ಸಂಗತಿಯನ್ನೆಲ್ಲಾ ನೋಡಿ ತಿಳಿದುಕೊಳ್ಳಬೇಕು.
18 Examine the land to see what it is like. Observe the people who live there, whether they are strong or weak, and whether they are few or many.
೧೮ಅಲ್ಲಿನ ನಿವಾಸಿಗಳು ಬಲಿಷ್ಠರೋ ಅಥವಾ ಬಲಹೀನರೋ, ಬಹಳ ಜನರೋ ಅಥವಾ ಸ್ವಲ್ಪ ಜನರೋ,
19 See what the land is like where they live. Is it good or bad? What cities are there? Are they like camps, or are they fortified cities?
೧೯ಅವರ ದೇಶವು ಒಳ್ಳೆಯದೋ ಅಥವಾ ಕೆಟ್ಟದ್ದೋ? ಅವರ ಪಟ್ಟಣಗಳು ಪಾಳೆಯಗಳೋ ಅಥವಾ ಕೋಟೆಗಳೋ?
20 See what the land is like, whether it is good for growing crops or not, and whether there are trees there or not. Be brave and bring back samples of the land's produce.” Now the time was the season for the first ripe grapes.
೨೦ಭೂಮಿಯು ಸಾರವಾದುದೋ ಅಥವಾ ನಿಸ್ಸಾರವಾದುದೋ, ಮರಗಳುಳ್ಳದ್ದೋ ಅಥವಾ ಬಯಲುಪ್ರದೇಶವೋ ಎಂದು ನೋಡಿ ತಿಳಿದುಕೊಳ್ಳಬೇಕು. ಅದಲ್ಲದೆ ನೀವು ಧೈರ್ಯವುಳ್ಳವರಾಗಿದ್ದು ಆ ದೇಶದ ಉತ್ಪನ್ನಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಕೆಲವನ್ನು ತರಬೇಕು” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದನು. ಆಗ ದ್ರಾಕ್ಷಾಲತೆಗಳ ಪ್ರಥಮ ಫಲದ ಕಾಲವಾಗಿತ್ತು.
21 So the men went up and examined the land from the wilderness of Zin to Rehob, near Lebo Hamath.
೨೧ಅವರು ಬೆಟ್ಟವನ್ನು ಹತ್ತಿ ಚಿನ್ ಅರಣ್ಯದಿಂದ ಹಮಾತಿನ ದಾರಿಯಲ್ಲಿರುವ ರೆಹೋಬಿನ ವರೆಗೆ ಆ ದೇಶವನ್ನು ಸಂಚರಿಸಿ ನೋಡಿದರು.
22 They went up from the Negev and arrived at Hebron. Ahiman, Sheshai, and Talmai, clans descended from Anak, were there. Now Hebron had been built seven years before Zoan in Egypt.
೨೨ಅವರು ಬೆಟ್ಟವನ್ನು ಹತ್ತಿ ಕಾನಾನ್ ದೇಶದ ದಕ್ಷಿಣ ಪ್ರಾಂತ್ಯವನ್ನು ದಾಟಿ ಹೆಬ್ರೋನಿಗೆ ಬಂದರು. ಅಲ್ಲಿ ಅಹೀಮನ್, ಶೇಷೈ, ತಲ್ಮೈ ಎಂಬ ಉನ್ನತ ಪುರುಷರು ಇದ್ದರು. ಹೆಬ್ರೋನ್ ಪಟ್ಟಣವು ಐಗುಪ್ತ ದೇಶದಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಚೋವನ್ ಪಟ್ಟಣಕ್ಕಿಂತ ಏಳು ವರ್ಷ ಮೊದಲು ನಿರ್ಮಿಸಲಾಗಿತ್ತು.
23 When they reached the Valley of Eshkol, they cut down a branch with a cluster of grapes. They carried it on a staff between two of their group. They also brought pomegranates and figs.
೨೩ಅವರು ಎಷ್ಕೋಲ್ ಎಂಬ ತಗ್ಗಿಗೆ ಬಂದು ಅಲ್ಲಿ ದ್ರಾಕ್ಷಾಲತೆಯಿಂದ ಒಂದೇ ಗೊಂಚಲುಳ್ಳ ಕೊಂಬೆಯನ್ನು ಕೊಯ್ದರು; ಇಬ್ಬರು ಅದನ್ನು ಅಡ್ಡಕೋಲಿನಿಂದ ಹೊತ್ತುಕೊಂಡು ಬಂದರು. ಕೆಲವು ದಾಳಿಂಬೆ ಮತ್ತು ಅಂಜೂರದ ಹಣ್ಣುಗಳನ್ನೂ ತಂದರು.
24 That place was named the Valley of Eshkol, because of the grape cluster that the people of Israel cut down there.
೨೪ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರು ಅಲ್ಲಿ ಆ ದ್ರಾಕ್ಷಿಯ ಗೊಂಚಲನ್ನು ಕೊಯ್ದದ್ದರಿಂದಲೇ ಆ ಸ್ಥಳಕ್ಕೆ “ಎಷ್ಕೋಲ್” ಎಂದು ಹೆಸರು ಉಂಟಾಯಿತು.
25 After forty days, they returned from examining the land.
೨೫ಅವರು ನಲ್ವತ್ತು ದಿನಗಳು ಆ ದೇಶವನ್ನು ಸಂಚರಿಸಿ ನೋಡಿದರು.
26 They came back to Moses, Aaron, and all the community of the people of Israel in the wilderness of Paran, at Kadesh. They brought back word to them and to all the community, and showed them the produce from the land.
೨೬ಆ ಮೇಲೆ ಪಾರಾನ್ ಅರಣ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿದ್ದ ಮೋಶೆ, ಆರೋನರು ಮತ್ತು ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರ ಸರ್ವಸಮೂಹದವರ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಕಾದೇಶಿಗೆ ಬಂದು ಅವರಿಗೆ ಸಮಾಚಾರವನ್ನು ತಿಳಿಸಿ ಆ ದೇಶದ ಹಣ್ಣುಗಳನ್ನು ತೋರಿಸಿದರು.
27 They told Moses, “We reached the land to which you sent us. It certainly flows with milk and honey. Here is some produce from it.
೨೭ಅವರು ಮೋಶೆಗೆ, “ನೀನು ನಮ್ಮನ್ನು ಕಳುಹಿಸಿದ ದೇಶಕ್ಕೆ ಹೋದೆವು; ಅದು ನಿಜವಾಗಿಯೂ ಹಾಲೂ ಮತ್ತು ಜೇನೂ ಹರಿಯುವ ದೇಶವೇ; ಅಲ್ಲಿನ ಹಣ್ಣುಗಳು ಇಂಥವು.
28 However, the people who make their homes there are strong. The cities are fortified and very large. We also saw descendants of Anak there.
೨೮ಆದರೆ ಆ ದೇಶದ ನಿವಾಸಿಗಳು ಬಲಿಷ್ಠರು: ಅವರಿರುವ ಪಟ್ಟಣಗಳು ದೊಡ್ಡದಾಗಿಯೂ, ಕೋಟೆ ಕೊತ್ತಲುಗಳುಳ್ಳದ್ದಾಗಿಯೂ ಇದೆ. ಅದಲ್ಲದೆ ಅಲ್ಲಿ ಉನ್ನತ ಪುರುಷರನ್ನು ನೋಡಿದೆವು.
29 The Amalekites live in the Negev. The Hittites, Jebusites, and Amorites have their homes in the hill country. The Canaanites live by the sea and along the Jordan River.”
೨೯ದಕ್ಷಿಣ ಸೀಮೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಅಮಾಲೇಕ್ಯರು, ಬೆಟ್ಟದ ಸೀಮೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಹಿತ್ತಿಯರು, ಯೆಬೂಸಿಯರು, ಅಮೋರಿಯರು ಸಮುದ್ರತೀರದಲ್ಲಿ ಮತ್ತು ಯೊರ್ದನ್ ಹೊಳೆಯ ಬಳಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಕಾನಾನ್ಯರೂ ವಾಸವಾಗಿದ್ದಾರೆ” ಎಂದು ತಿಳಿಸಿದರು.
30 Then Caleb silenced the people who were before Moses and said, “Let us go up and take possession of the land, for we are certainly able to conquer it.”
೩೦ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರು ಮೋಶೆಗೆ ವಿರುದ್ಧವಾಗಿ ಗುಣುಗುಟ್ಟಿದರು. ಕಾಲೇಬನು ಅವರನ್ನು ಸುಮ್ಮನಿರಿಸಿ, “ನಾವು ನಿರ್ಭಯವಾಗಿ ಆ ಬೆಟ್ಟದ ಸೀಮೆಗೆ ಹತ್ತಿಹೋಗಿ ಅದನ್ನು ಸ್ವಾಧೀನಪಡಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳೋಣ. ಅದನ್ನು ಜಯಿಸಲು ನಾವು ಶಕ್ತರಾಗಿದ್ದೇವೆ” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದನು.
31 But the other men who had gone with him said, “We are not able to attack the people because they are stronger than we are.”
೩೧ಆದರೆ ಅವನ ಜೊತೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಹೋದವರು, “ಆ ಜನರು ನಮಗಿಂತ ಬಲಿಷ್ಠರು; ಅವರನ್ನು ಜಯಿಸಲು ನಮಗೆ ಶಕ್ತಿಸಾಲುವುದಿಲ್ಲ” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದರು.
32 So they spread around a discouraging report to the people of Israel about the land that they had examined. They said, “The land that we looked at is a land that eats up its inhabitants. All the people whom we saw there are people of great height.
೩೨ಅದಲ್ಲದೆ ಇವರು ತಾವು ಸಂಚರಿಸಿ ನೋಡಿದ ದೇಶದ ವಿಷಯವಾಗಿ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರಿಗೆ ಅಶುಭ ಸಮಾಚಾರವನ್ನು ಹೇಳುವವರಾಗಿ, “ನಾವು ಸಂಚರಿಸಿ ನೋಡಿದ ದೇಶವು ತನ್ನಲ್ಲಿ ವಾಸಿಸುವವರನ್ನು ನುಂಗಿಬಿಡುತ್ತದೆ. ಅದಲ್ಲದೆ ನಾವು ಅದರಲ್ಲಿ ನೋಡಿದ ಜನರೆಲ್ಲರೂ ಬಹಳ ಎತ್ತರವಾದವರು.
33 There we saw giants, descendants of Anak, people who came from giants. In our own sight we were like grasshoppers in comparison with them, and this is what we were in their sight, too.”
೩೩ಅಲ್ಲಿ ನೆಫೀಲಿಯರನ್ನು ಅಂದರೆ ನೆಫೀಲಿಯ ವಂಶದವರಾದ ಉನ್ನತ ಪುರುಷರನ್ನು ನೋಡಿದೆವು. ನಾವು ಅವರ ಮುಂದೆ ಮಿಡತೆಗಳಂತೆ ಇದ್ದೇವೆ ಎಂದು ತಿಳಿದುಕೊಂಡೆವು. ಅವರಿಗೂ ನಾವು ಹಾಗೆಯೇ ಕಾಣಿಸಿದೆವು” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದರು.
