Nahum 1
1 The declaration about Nineveh. The book of the vision of Nahum, the Elkoshite.
Dies ist die Last über Ninive und das Buch der Weissagung Nahums von Elkos.
2 Yahweh is a jealous God and avenges; Yahweh avenges and is full of wrath; Yahweh takes vengeance on his adversaries, and he continues his anger for his enemies.
Der HERR ist ein eifriger Gott und ein Rächer, ja ein Rächer ist der HERR und zornig; der HERR ist ein Rächer wider seine Widersacher, und der es seinen Feinden nicht vergessen wird.
3 Yahweh is slow to anger and great in power; he will not allow the wicked to go unpunished. Yahweh makes his way in the whirlwind and the storm, and the clouds are the dust of his feet.
Der HERR ist geduldig und von großer Kraft, vor welchem niemand unschuldig ist; er ist der HERR, des Wege im Wetter und Sturm sind und unter seinen Füßen dicker Staub,
4 He rebukes the sea and makes it dry; he dries up all the rivers. Bashan is weak, and Carmel also; the flowers of Lebanon are weak.
der das Meer schilt und trocken macht und alle Wasser vertrocknet. Basan und Karmel verschmachten, und was auf dem Berge Libanon blühet, verschmachtet.
5 The mountains shake in his presence, and the hills melt; the earth collapses in his presence, indeed, the world and all people who live in it.
Die Berge zittern vor ihm, und die Hügel zergehen; das Erdreich bebet vor ihm, dazu der Weltkreis und alle, die drinnen wohnen.
6 Who can stand before his wrath? Who can resist the fierceness of his anger? His wrath is poured out like fire, and the rocks are broken apart by him.
Wer kann vor seinem Zorn stehen und wer kann vor seinem Grimm bleiben? Sein Zorn brennet wie Feuer, und die Felsen zerspringen vor ihm.
7 Yahweh is good, a stronghold in the day of trouble; and he is faithful to those who take refuge in him.
Der HERR ist gütig und eine Feste zur Zeit der Not und kennet die, so auf ihn trauen.
8 But he will make a full end to his enemies with an overwhelming flood; he will pursue them into darkness.
Wenn die Flut überher läuft, so macht er's mit derselbigen ein Ende; aber seine Feinde verfolgt er mit Finsternis.
9 What are you people plotting against Yahweh? He will make a full end to it; trouble will not rise up a second time.
Was gedenket ihr wider den HERRN? Er wird's doch ein Ende machen; es wird das Unglück nicht zweimal kommen.
10 For they will become tangled up like thornbushes; they will be saturated in their own drink; they will be completely devoured by fire like dry stubble.
Denn gleich als wenn die Dornen, so noch ineinanderwachsen und im besten Saft sind, verbrannt werden, wie ganz dürr Stroh,
11 Someone arose among you, Nineveh, who planned evil against Yahweh, someone who promoted wickedness.
also wird sein der Schalksrat, der von dir kommt und Böses wider den HERRN gedenket.
12 This is what Yahweh says, “Even if they are at their full strength and full numbers, they will nevertheless be sheared; their people will be no more. But you, Judah: Though I have afflicted you, I will afflict you no more.
So spricht der HERR: Sie kommen so gerüstet und mächtig, als sie wollen, sollen sie doch umgehauen werden und dahinfahren. Ich habe dich gedemütiget; aber ich will dich nicht wiederum demütigen.
13 Now will I break that people's yoke from off you; I will break your chains.”
Alsdann will ich sein Joch, das du trägst, zerbrechen und deine Bande zerreißen.
14 Yahweh has given a command about you, Nineveh: “There will be no more descendants bearing your name. I will cut off the carved figures and the cast metal figures from the houses of your gods. I will dig your graves, for you are contemptible.”
Aber wider dich hat der HERR geboten, daß deines Namens Same keiner mehr soll bleiben. Vom Hause deines Gottes will ich dich ausrotten, die Götzen und Bilder will ich dir zum Grabe machen; denn du bist zunichte worden.
15 Look, on the mountains there are the feet of someone who is bringing good news, who is announcing peace! Celebrate your festivals, Judah, and keep your vows, for the wicked one will invade you no more; he is completely cut off.
Siehe, auf den Bergen kommen Füße eines guten Boten, der da Frieden predigt: Halte deine Feiertage, Juda, und bezahle deine Gelübde! Denn es wird der Schalk nicht mehr über dich kommen; er ist gar ausgerottet.
