< Matthew 12 >

1 At that time Jesus went on the Sabbath day through the grainfields. His disciples were hungry and began to pluck heads of grain and eat them.
Jesu loe Sabbath niah lawk thungah caeh; a hnukbang kaminawk loe zok amthlam o pongah, cangqui pazut o moe, pakuep o.
2 But when the Pharisees saw that, they said to Jesus, “See, your disciples do what is unlawful to do on the Sabbath.”
Farasinawk mah hnuk o naah anih khaeah, Khenah, na hnukbang kaminawk loe Sabbath niah sak han koi ai hmuennawk to a sak o, tiah naa o.
3 But Jesus said to them, “Have you never read what David did, when he was hungry, and the men who were with him?
Toe anih mah nihcae khaeah, David mah zok amthlam naah, angmah hoi nawnto kaom kaminawk hoi sak o ih hmuen to na kroek o ai maw?
4 He went into the house of God and ate the bread of the presence, which was unlawful for him to eat and unlawful for those who were with him, but lawful only for the priests.
Anih Sithaw imthung ah akun naah, anih hoi angmah ih ampuinawk mah caak han koi ai, qaimanawk khue mah caak han ih takaw to a caak o to loe.
5 Have you not read in the law that on the Sabbath the priests in the temple profane the Sabbath but are guiltless?
Qaimanawk mah Sabbath niah tempul thungah Sabbath to amhnong o sak, toe coek han koi tawn ai ah a oh o, tiah kaom kaalok to na kroek o vai ai maw?
6 But I say to you that one greater than the temple is here.
Kang thuih o, Tempul pong kalen kue hae ahmuen ah oh.
7 If you had known what this meant, 'I desire mercy and not sacrifice,' you would not have condemned the guiltless.
Angbawnhaih na ai ah, palungnathaih to ni ka koeh, tiah thuih ih lok to na thaih o kop nahaeloe, zaehaih tawn ai kami to zaehaih na net o mak ai.
8 For the Son of Man is Lord of the Sabbath.”
Kami Capa loe Sabbath Angraeng ah oh, tiah a naa.
9 Then Jesus left from there and went into their synagogue.
Anih loe to ahmuen hoiah tacawt moe, nihcae ih sineko thungah caeh:
10 Behold, there was a man who had a withered hand. The Pharisees asked Jesus, saying, “Is it lawful to heal on the Sabbath?” so that they might accuse him of sinning.
khenah, to ah ban khaem kami maeto oh. Anih to zae net o thai hanah, nihcae mah anih khaeah, Sabbath niah ngantuisak han hoih maw? tiah lok a dueng o.
11 Jesus said to them, “What man would there be among you, who, if he had just one sheep, and if this sheep fell into a deep hole on the Sabbath, would not grasp hold of it and lift it out?
Anih mah nihcae khaeah, Nangcae thung ih kami maeto mah tuu maeto tawnh, tuu to Sabbath niah tangqom thungah krah nahaeloe, anih mah tuu to la mak ai maw?
12 How much more valuable, then, is a man than a sheep! Therefore it is lawful to do good on the Sabbath.”
Kami loe tuu pongah nazetto maw atho oh kue? To pongah Sabbath niah kahoih hmuen sak han hoih, tiah a naa.
13 Then Jesus said to the man, “Stretch out your hand.” He stretched it out, and it was restored to health, just like the other hand.
To kami khaeah, Na ban to payangh ah, tiah a naa. Anih mah ban to payangh; to naah kalah ban maeto baktiah oh let.
14 But the Pharisees went out and plotted against him. They were seeking how they might put him to death.
Toe Farasinawk loe tasa bangah tacawt o moe, anih to kawbangmaw a hum o thai han, tiah lok angdueng o.
15 As Jesus perceived this, he withdrew from there. Many people followed him, and he healed them all.
Jesu mah to hmuen to panoek naah, to ahmuen to tacawt taak: paroeai kaminawk anih hnukah bang o, anih mah nihcae to ngantuisak boih.
16 He commanded them not to make him known to others,
Anih loe kawbaktih kami maw, tito minawk khaeah thuih han ai ah a thuih pae.
17 that it might come true, what had been said through Isaiah the prophet, saying,
Tahmaa Isaiah mah thuih ih lok akoep thai hanah anih mah,
18 “See, my servant whom I have chosen; my beloved one, in whom my soul is well pleased. I will put my Spirit upon him, and he will proclaim justice to the Gentiles.
khenah, ka qoih ih ka tamna; ka palung duek ih anih khaeah anghoehaih ka tawnh: anih nuiah ka Muithla to ka suek han, anih mah Gentel kaminawk khaeah toenghaih amtuengsak tih.
19 He will not strive nor cry aloud; neither will anyone hear his voice in the streets.
Anih loe angaek mak ai, hang mak ai; mi mah doeh loklam ah anih ih lok to thaih mak ai.
20 He will not break any bruised reed; he will not quench any smoking flax, until he leads justice to victory,
Pazawk hanah toenghaih hoiah caeh ai karoek to, a cawh ih sakrungkung to angkhaek mak ai, tlangqui pong ih hmaikhue doeh paduek mak ai.
21 and in his name the Gentiles will have certain hope.”
Anih ih ahmin pongah Gentel kaminawk mah tanghaih to tawn o tih, tiah a thuih.
22 Then someone blind and mute, possessed by a demon, was brought to Jesus. He healed him, with the result that the mute man spoke and saw.
To naah taqawk katawn, mikmaeng, lokaa, naa doeh kapang kami maeto anih khaeah angzoh o haih: anih mah to kami to ngantuisak, to naah mikmaeng khue ai, lok doeh aa kami to lok apaeh moe, a mik doeh amtueng pae roep.
23 All the crowds were amazed and said, “Can this man be the Son of David?”
Kaminawk boih dawnrai o moe, Hae kami loe David ih capa na ai maw? tiah a thuih o.
24 But when the Pharisees heard of this miracle, they said, “This man does not cast out demons except by Beelzebul, the prince of the demons.”
Toe Farasinawk mah to lok to thaih o naah, Hae kami loe taqawk angraeng Beelzabub ih ahmin hoiah ni taqawknawk to a haek, tiah a naa o.
25 But Jesus knew their thoughts and said to them, “Every kingdom divided against itself is made desolate, and every city or house divided against itself will not stand.
Jesu mah nihcae poekhaih to panoek pae naah, nihcae khaeah, Kawbaktih prae doeh maeto hoi maeto angtuh moe, ampraek prae loe anghmat angtaa; kawbaktih vangpui doeh maeto hoi maeto angtuh moe, ampraek vangpui loe, angdoe thai ai.
26 If Satan drives out Satan, he is divided against himself. How then will his kingdom stand?
Setan mah Setan to haek nahaeloe, angmah hoi angmah misa ah angcoeng moe, ampraek pongah, kawbangah maw a prae loe angdoe thai tih?
27 And if I drive out demons by Beelzebul, by whom do your sons drive them out? For this reason they will be your judges.
Kai mah Beelzabub rang hoiah taqawknawk to ka haek nahaeloe, nang ih kaminawk mah loe mi ih ahmin hoiah maw taqawknawk to haek o?
28 But if I drive out demons by the Spirit of God, then the kingdom of God has come upon you.
Toe Sithaw ih Muithla hoiah taqawknawk to ka haek nahaeloe, Sithaw prae loe nangcae khaeah phak boeh.
29 How can anyone enter the house of the strong man and steal his belongings without tying up the strong man first? Then he will steal his belongings from his house.
Thacak parai kami to taoeng hmaloe ai ah, kawbangmaw thacak parai im tawnkung ih imthung ah akun ueloe, anih ih hmuennawk to paro pae thai tih? Taoeng pacoengah ni anih ih im to phrae pae thai tih.
30 The one who is not with me is against me, and the one who does not gather with me scatters.
Kai hoi nawnto om ai kami loe kai ih misa ah oh, kai hoi nawnto om ai kami loe anghaeh phang.
31 Therefore I say to you, every sin and blasphemy will be forgiven men, but the blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven.
To pongah kang thuih o, Zaehaih hoi Sithaw kasae thui kaminawk loe zae tahmenhaih om tih, toe Kacai Muithla kasae thui kaminawk loe tahmenhaih om mak ai.
32 Whoever speaks any word against the Son of Man, that will be forgiven him. But whoever speaks against the Holy Spirit, that will not be forgiven him, neither in this world, nor in that which is to come. (aiōn g165)
Mi kawbaktih doeh kami Capa kasae thui kami loe, zae tahmenhaih om tih: toe Kacai Muithla kasae thui kami loe, vaihi thuem hoi angzo han koi adung ah doeh, zae tahmenhaih to om mak ai. (aiōn g165)
33 Make a tree good and its fruit good, or make the tree bad and its fruit bad, for a tree is recognized by its fruit.
Kahoih thingkung pongah athaih kahoih to athaih, kahoih ai thingkung pongah kasae athaih to athaih: thingkung maeto loe athaih hoiah panoek thaih.
34 You offspring of vipers, since you are evil, how can you say good things? For out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks.
Nangcae pahui caanawk, kawbangmaw kami zae ah kaom nangcae mah kahoih hmuen to na thui o thai tih? Palung thungah amtlai hmuen to ni pakha mah thuih.
35 The good man from the good treasure of his heart produces what is good, and the evil man from the evil treasure of his heart produces what is evil.
Kahoih kami loe kahoih poekhaih hoiah kahoih hmuennawk to tacawtsak: kasae kami loe kasae hmuen thung hoiah kasae hmuennawk to tacawtsak.
36 I say to you that in the day of judgment people will give an account for every idle word they will have said.
Toe kang thuih o, Kaminawk loe avang ai apaeh ih lok pongah, lokcaekhaih niah lokduenghaih to om tih.
37 For by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned.”
Na thuih ih loknawk pongah toenghaih to na hnu ueloe, na thuih ih loknawk pongah lokcaekhaih to na hnu tih, tiah a naa.
38 Then certain scribes and Pharisees answered Jesus and said, “Teacher, we wish to see a sign from you.”
To pacoengah Farasinawk hoi ca tarikkung thoemto kaminawk mah anih khaeah, Patukkung, nang khae hoi angmathaih maeto hnuk han ka koeh o, tiah a naa o.
39 But Jesus answered and said to them, “An evil and adulterous generation seeks for a sign. But no sign will be given to it except the sign of Jonah the prophet.
Toe anih mah nihcae khaeah, Kahoih ai kami hoi daan ai ah zu sava nuiah zaehaih sah kaminawk loe angmathaih to pakrong o; tahmaa Jonah ih angmathaih khue ai ah loe, angmathaih kalah paek mak ai boeh.
40 For as Jonah was three days and three nights in the stomach of the big fish, so will the Son of Man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.
Jonah loe tanga pui ih zokthung ah ni thumto hoi qum thumto oh; to baktih toeng ah kami Capa doeh long thungah ni thumto hoi qum thumto om tih.
41 The men of Nineveh will stand up at the judgment with this generation of people and will condemn it. For they repented at the preaching of Jonah, and see, someone greater than Jonah is here.
Nineveh vangpui kaminawk loe Jonah mah thuih ih lok pongah dawnpakhuem o pongah, nihcae loe lokcaekhaih niah hae adung ih kaminawk hoi nawnto angdoe o ueloe, lok na caek o tih: khenah, Jonah pongah kalen kue haeah oh.
42 The Queen of the South will rise up at the judgment with the men of this generation and condemn them. She came from the ends of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon, and see, someone greater than Solomon is here.
Aloih bang ih siangpahrang nongpata mah lokcaekhaih niah vaihi dung ih kaminawk hoi nawnto angdoe ueloe, lok na caek o tih: anih loe Solomon palunghahaih lok to tahngaih hanah, long boenghaih ahmuen hoiah angzoh; khenah, Solomon pongah kalen kue haeah oh.
43 When an unclean spirit has gone away from a man, it passes through waterless places and looks for rest, but does not find it.
Taqawk sae loe kami takoh thung hoiah tacawt pacoengah, anih loe praezaek ahmuen ah caeh moe, anghakhaih to pakrong, toe hnu ai.
44 Then it says, 'I will return to my house from which I came.' Having returned, it finds that house swept out and put in order.
To pongah anih mah, Ka tacawt taak ih im ah kam laem let han, tiah thuih; anih angzoh naah loe, kacai pin ah pahuih moe, raemh tangcae ah kaom kakong ahmuen to a hnuk.
45 Then it goes and takes along with it seven other spirits more evil than itself, and they all come in to live there. Then the final condition of that man becomes worse than the first. It will be just like that with this evil generation.”
To pacoengah anih loe caeh moe, angmah pongah kasae kue kalah taqawk sarihtonawk to akun haih, nihcae loe a thungah akun o moe oh o: to naah to kami loe tangsuek ih pongah doeh nung kue. To baktih toengah vaihi thuem ih kasae caanawk khaeah doeh om tih, tiah a naa.
46 While Jesus was still speaking to the crowds, behold, his mother and his brothers stood outside, seeking to speak to him.
Kaminawk khaeah lok a thuih li naah, khenah, anih ih amno hoi angmah ih nawkamyanawk loe anih hoi lokpaeh hanah, tasa bangah angdoet o.
47 Someone said to him, “Look, your mother and your brothers stand outside, seeking to speak to you.”
To naah kami maeto mah anih khaeah, Khenah, nam no hoi nam nawkamyanawk loe nang hoi lokpaeh hanah tasa bangah angdoet o, tiah a naa.
48 But Jesus answered and said to him who told him, “Who is my mother and who are my brothers?”
Toe anih mah lokthui kami khaeah, Kam no hoi kam nawkamya loe mi aa? tiah a naa.
49 Then he stretched out his hand toward his disciples and said, “See, here are my mother and my brothers!
Anih mah a hnukbang kaminawk to ban hoiah takhih moe, Khenah, hae kaminawk loe kai ih amno hoi nawkamyanawk ah oh o, tiah a naa.
50 For whoever does the will of my Father who is in heaven, that person is my brother, and sister, and mother.”
Mi kawbaktih doeh van ah kaom kam Pa koehhaih sah kami loe, kai ih nawkamya, ka tanuh hoi kam no ah ni oh o, tiah a naa.
