< Mark 3 >

1 Again Jesus walked into the synagogue and there was a man with a withered hand.
And he entered again into a synagogue; and there was a man there having a withered hand;
2 Some people watched him closely to see if he would heal him on the Sabbath so that they could accuse him.
and they watched him, whether he would heal him on the sabbath, that they might accuse him.
3 Jesus said to the man with the withered hand, “Get up and stand here in the middle of everyone.”
And he saith to the man having the withered hand, Stand up in the midst.
4 Then he said to the people, “Is it lawful to do good on the Sabbath day or to do harm; to save a life or to kill?” But they were silent.
And he saith to them, Is it lawful to do good on the sabbath, or to do evil? to save life, or to kill? But they were silent.
5 He looked around at them with anger, and he was grieved by their hardness of heart, and he said to the man, “Stretch out your hand.” He stretched it out, and his hand was restored.
And looking round on them with anger, being grieved for the hardness of their hearts, he saith to the man, Stretch forth thy hand. And he stretched it forth; and his hand was restored.
6 The Pharisees went out and immediately began to plot with the Herodians as to how they might put him to death.
And the Pharisees went forth, and immediately had a consultation with the Herodians against him, how they might destroy him.
7 Then Jesus, with his disciples, went to the sea, and a great crowd of people followed from Galilee and from Judea
And Jesus withdrew with his disciples to the lake; and a great multitude from Galilee, and from Judaea followed;
8 and from Jerusalem and from Idumea and beyond the Jordan and around Tyre and Sidon. When they heard about the things he was doing, a great crowd came to him.
and from Jerusalem, and from Idumaea, and from beyond the Jordan, and the people about Tyre and Sidon, a great multitude, when they heard what great things he was doing, came to him.
9 He asked his disciples to have a small boat ready for him because of the crowd, so that they would not crush him.
And he gave direction to his disciples, that a boat should be in readiness for him because of the multitude, that they might not throng him.
10 For he healed many, so that everyone who had afflictions eagerly approached him in order to touch him.
For he had healed many, so that as many as had plagues pressed upon him to touch him.
11 Whenever the unclean spirits saw him, they fell down before him and cried out, and they said, “You are the Son of God.”
And the unclean spirits, when they saw him, fell down before him, and cried out, saying, Thou art the Son of God.
12 He strictly ordered them not to make him known.
And he strictly charged them that they should not make him known.
13 He went up on the mountain, and he called for those he wanted, and they came to him.
And he goeth up into the mountain, and calleth to him whom he would; and they came to him.
14 He appointed the twelve (whom he named apostles) so that they might be with him and he might send them to proclaim the message,
And he appointed twelve to be with him, and whom he might send forth to preach,
15 and to have authority to cast out demons.
and to have authority to cast out demons. And he appointed the twelve,
16 Then he appointed the twelve: Simon, to whom he gave the name Peter;
and Simon he surnamed Peter;
17 James son of Zebedee, and John the brother of James, to whom he gave the name Boanerges, that is, sons of thunder;
and James the son of Zebedee, and John the brother of James; and he surnamed them Boanerges, that is, Sons of thunder;
18 and Andrew, Philip, Bartholomew, Matthew, Thomas, James son of Alphaeus, Thaddaeus, Simon the Zealot,
and Andrew, and Philip, and Bartholomew, and Matthew, and Thomas, and James the son of Alphaeus, and Thaddaeus, and Simon of Cana,
19 and Judas Iscariot, who would betray him.
and Judas Iscariot, who betrayed him. And he cometh into the house.
20 Then he went home, and the crowd came together again, so that they could not even eat bread.
And again a multitude cometh together, so that they could not so much as eat bread.
21 When his family heard about it, they went out to seize him, for they said, “He is out of his mind.”
And his relations hearing of it went out to lay hold of him; for they said, He is beside himself.
22 The scribes who came down from Jerusalem said, “He is possessed by Beelzebul” and “By the ruler of the demons he drives out demons.”
And the scribes who came down from Jerusalem said, He hath Beelzebul; and, He casteth out the demons through the prince of the demons.
23 Jesus called them to him and said to them in parables, “How can Satan cast out Satan?
And calling them to him, he said to them in parables: How can Satan cast out Satan?
24 If a kingdom is divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand.
And if a kingdom be divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand;
25 If a house is divided against itself, that house will not be able to stand.
and if a house be divided against itself, that house will not be able to stand;
26 If Satan has risen up against himself and is divided, he is not able to stand, but has come to an end.
and if Satan rise up against himself, he is divided, and cannot stand, but hath an end.
27 But no one can enter into the house of a strong man and steal his belongings without tying up the strong man first, and then he will plunder his house.
Moreover, no one can enter into a strong man's house, and plunder his goods, unless he first bind the strong man; and then he will plunder his house.
28 Truly I say to you, all sins of the sons of men will be forgiven, even all the blasphemies which they utter,
Truly do I say to you, All sins will be forgiven the sons of men, and the blasphemies wherewith they shall blaspheme;
29 but whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit will never have forgiveness, but is guilty of an eternal sin.” (aiōn g165, aiōnios g166)
but he that shall blaspheme against the Holy Spirit hath no forgiveness forever, but is exposed to everlasting sin.— (aiōn g165, aiōnios g166)
30 Jesus said this because they were saying, “He has an unclean spirit.”
Because they said, He hath an unclean spirit.
31 Then his mother and his brothers came and stood outside. They sent for him, summoning him.
And his mother and his brothers came; and, standing without, sent to him, to call him.
32 A crowd was sitting around him and they said to him, “Your mother and your brothers are outside, and they are looking for you.”
And a multitude was sitting about him; and they say to him, Lo! thy mother and thy brothers and thy sisters are without, seeking for thee.
33 He answered them, “Who are my mother and my brothers?”
And he answering saith to them, Who is my mother, and my brothers?
34 He looked around at those who were sitting in a circle around him and said, “See, here are my mother and my brothers!
And looking round on those who sat about him, he saith, Behold my mother and my brothers.
35 For whoever does the will of God, that person is my brother, and sister, and mother.”
Whoever shall do the will of God, he is my brother, and sister, and mother.
