Mark 2
1 When he came back to Capernaum after a few days, it was heard that he was at home.
Καὶ (εἰσελθὼν *N(k)O*) πάλιν εἰς Καφαρναοὺμ δι᾽ ἡμερῶν (καὶ *k*) ἠκούσθη ὅτι (ἐν οἴκῳ *N(k)O*) ἐστίν.
2 So many gathered there that there was no more space, not even at the door, and Jesus spoke the word to them.
καὶ (εὐθέως *KO*) συνήχθησαν πολλοὶ ὥστε μηκέτι χωρεῖν μηδὲ τὰ πρὸς τὴν θύραν, καὶ ἐλάλει αὐτοῖς τὸν λόγον.
3 Then some men came to him who were bringing a paralyzed man; four people were carrying him.
Καὶ ἔρχονται φέροντες πρὸς αὐτὸν παραλυτικὸν αἰρόμενον ὑπὸ τεσσάρων.
4 When they could not get near him because of the crowd, they removed the roof that was above Jesus, and after they made an opening, they lowered the bed the paralyzed man was lying on.
καὶ μὴ δυνάμενοι (προσενέγκαι *N(k)O*) αὐτῷ διὰ τὸν ὄχλον ἀπεστέγασαν τὴν στέγην ὅπου ἦν καὶ ἐξορύξαντες χαλῶσιν τὸν κράβαττον (ὅπου *N(k)O*) ὁ παραλυτικὸς κατέκειτο.
5 Seeing their faith, Jesus said to the paralyzed man, “Son, your sins are forgiven.”
(καὶ *no*) ἰδὼν (δὲ *ko*) ὁ Ἰησοῦς τὴν πίστιν αὐτῶν λέγει τῷ παραλυτικῷ· τέκνον, (ἀφίενταί σου *N(k)O*) αἱ ἁμαρτίαι (σου. *k*)
6 Now some of the scribes were sitting there, and they reasoned in their hearts,
ἦσαν δέ τινες τῶν γραμματέων ἐκεῖ καθήμενοι καὶ διαλογιζόμενοι ἐν ταῖς καρδίαις αὐτῶν·
7 “How can this man speak this way? He blasphemes! Who can forgive sins but God alone?”
τί οὗτος οὕτως λαλεῖ; (βλασφημεῖ· *N(k)O*) τίς δύναται ἀφιέναι ἁμαρτίας εἰ μὴ εἷς ὁ θεός;
8 Immediately Jesus knew in his spirit what they were thinking among themselves. He said to them, “Why are you thinking this in your hearts?
καὶ εὐθὺς ἐπιγνοὺς ὁ Ἰησοῦς τῷ πνεύματι αὐτοῦ ὅτι οὕτως (αὐτοὶ *o*) διαλογίζονται ἐν ἑαυτοῖς (λέγει *N(k)O*) αὐτοῖς· τί ταῦτα διαλογίζεσθε ἐν ταῖς καρδίαις ὑμῶν;
9 What is easier to say to the paralyzed man, 'Your sins are forgiven' or to say 'Get up, take up your bed, and walk'?
τί ἐστιν εὐκοπώτερον, εἰπεῖν τῷ παραλυτικῷ· (ἀφίενταί σου *N(k)O*) αἱ ἁμαρτίαι, ἢ εἰπεῖν· (ἔγειρε *N(k)(o)*) καὶ ἆρον τὸν κράβαττόν σου καὶ περιπάτει;
10 But in order that you may know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins,” he said to the paralytic,
Ἵνα δὲ εἰδῆτε ὅτι ἐξουσίαν ἔχει ὁ υἱὸς τοῦ ἀνθρώπου ἀφιέναι ἁμαρτίας ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς, λέγει τῷ παραλυτικῷ·
11 “I say to you, get up, take up your mat, and go to your house.”
σοὶ λέγω· (ἔγειρε, *N(k)O*) (καὶ *k*) ἆρον τὸν κράβαττόν σου καὶ ὕπαγε εἰς τὸν οἶκόν σου.
12 He got up and immediately took up the mat, and went out of the house in front of everyone, so that they were all amazed and they gave glory to God, and they said, “We never saw anything like this.”
Καὶ ἠγέρθη καὶ εὐθὺς ἄρας τὸν κράβαττον ἐξῆλθεν (ἔμπροσθεν *N(k)O*) πάντων ὥστε ἐξίστασθαι πάντας καὶ δοξάζειν τὸν θεὸν λέγοντας ὅτι οὕτως οὐδέποτε εἴδομεν.
13 He went out again by the lake, and all the crowd came to him, and he taught them.
Καὶ ἐξῆλθεν πάλιν παρὰ τὴν θάλασσαν, καὶ πᾶς ὁ ὄχλος ἤρχετο πρὸς αὐτόν, καὶ ἐδίδασκεν αὐτούς.
14 As he passed by, he saw Levi son of Alphaeus sitting at the tax collector's tent and he said to him, “Follow me.” He got up and followed him.
Καὶ παράγων εἶδεν Λευὶν τὸν τοῦ Ἁλφαίου καθήμενον ἐπὶ τὸ τελώνιον καὶ λέγει αὐτῷ· ἀκολούθει μοι. καὶ ἀναστὰς ἠκολούθησεν αὐτῷ.
15 Jesus was having a meal in Levi's house and many tax collectors and sinful people were dining with him and his disciples, for there were many and they followed him.
Καὶ (γίνεται *N(k)(o)*) (ἐν τῷ *ko*) κατακεῖσθαι αὐτὸν ἐν τῇ οἰκίᾳ αὐτοῦ, καὶ πολλοὶ τελῶναι καὶ ἁμαρτωλοὶ συνανέκειντο τῷ Ἰησοῦ καὶ τοῖς μαθηταῖς αὐτοῦ· ἦσαν γὰρ πολλοί, καὶ (ἠκολούθουν *N(k)O*) αὐτῷ.
16 When the scribes, who were Pharisees, saw that Jesus was eating with the sinful people and tax collectors, they said to his disciples, “Why does he eat with tax collectors and sinful people?”
καὶ οἱ γραμματεῖς (καὶ *k*) (τῶν Φαρισαίων *N(k)O*) (καὶ *o*) ἰδόντες (ὅτι *N(k)O*) (ἐσθίει *N(k)(o)*) μετὰ τῶν ἁμαρτωλῶν καὶ τελωνῶν ἔλεγον τοῖς μαθηταῖς αὐτοῦ· (τί *k*) ὅτι μετὰ τῶν τελωνῶν καὶ ἁμαρτωλῶν ἐσθίει (καὶ πίνει; *KO*)
17 When Jesus heard this he said to them, “People who are strong in body do not need a physician; only people who are sick need one. I did not come to call righteous people, but sinful people.”
Καὶ ἀκούσας ὁ Ἰησοῦς λέγει αὐτοῖς· (ὅτι *no*) οὐ χρείαν ἔχουσιν οἱ ἰσχύοντες ἰατροῦ ἀλλ᾽ οἱ κακῶς ἔχοντες· οὐκ ἦλθον καλέσαι δικαίους ἀλλ᾽ ἁμαρτωλούς (εἰς μετάνοιαν. *K*)
18 Now John's disciples and the Pharisees were fasting. Some people came and said to him, “Why do John's disciples and the disciples of the Pharisees fast, but your disciples do not fast?”
Καὶ ἦσαν οἱ μαθηταὶ Ἰωάννου καὶ οἱ (τῶν *K*) (Φαρισαῖοι *N(k)O*) νηστεύοντες καὶ ἔρχονται καὶ λέγουσιν αὐτῷ· διὰ τί οἱ μαθηταὶ Ἰωάννου καὶ οἱ (μαθηταὶ *no*) τῶν Φαρισαίων νηστεύουσιν, οἱ δὲ σοὶ μαθηταὶ οὐ νηστεύουσιν;
19 Jesus said to them, “Can the wedding attendants fast while the bridegroom is still with them? As long as they have the bridegroom with them, they cannot fast.
Καὶ εἶπεν αὐτοῖς ὁ Ἰησοῦς· μὴ δύνανται οἱ υἱοὶ τοῦ νυμφῶνος ἐν ᾧ ὁ νυμφίος μετ᾽ αὐτῶν ἐστιν νηστεύειν; ὅσον χρόνον ἔχουσιν τὸν νυμφίον μετ᾽ (αὐτῶν *N(k)O*) οὐ δύνανται νηστεύειν.
20 But the days will come when the bridegroom will be taken away from them, and in those days, they will fast.
ἐλεύσονται δὲ ἡμέραι ὅταν ἀπαρθῇ ἀπ᾽ αὐτῶν ὁ νυμφίος, καὶ τότε νηστεύσουσιν ἐν (ἐκείνῃ *N(K)O*) (τῇ *N(k)O*) (ἡμέρᾳ. *N(K)O*)
21 No man sews a piece of new cloth on an old garment, otherwise the patch will tear away from it, the new from the old, and there will be a worse tear.
(Καὶ *k*) οὐδεὶς ἐπίβλημα ῥάκους ἀγνάφου ἐπιράπτει ἐπὶ (ἱμάτιον παλαιόν· *N(k)O*) εἰ δὲ μή, αἴρει τὸ πλήρωμα (ἀπ᾽ *no*) αὐτοῦ τὸ καινὸν τοῦ παλαιοῦ, καὶ χεῖρον σχίσμα γίνεται.
22 No man puts new wine into old wineskins, otherwise the wine will burst the skins and both the wine and the wineskins will be lost. Instead, put new wine into fresh wineskins.”
Καὶ οὐδεὶς βάλλει οἶνον νέον εἰς ἀσκοὺς παλαιούς· εἰ δὲ μή, (ῥήξει *N(k)O*) ὁ οἶνος (ὁ νέος *k*) τοὺς ἀσκούς, καὶ ὁ οἶνος (ἀπόλλυται *N(K)O*) καὶ οἱ ἀσκοί (ἀπολοῦνται· *ko*) ἀλλ᾽ οἶνον νέον εἰς ἀσκοὺς καινούς (βλητέον. *ko*)
23 On the Sabbath day Jesus went through some grainfields, and his disciples began to pick heads of grain.
Καὶ ἐγένετο αὐτὸν ἐν τοῖς σάββασιν (παραπορεύεσθαι *NK(o)*) διὰ τῶν σπορίμων, καὶ οἱ μαθηταὶ αὐτοῦ ἤρξαντο ὁδὸν ποιεῖν τίλλοντες τοὺς στάχυας.
24 The Pharisees said to him, “Look, why are they doing something that is not lawful on the Sabbath day?”
καὶ οἱ Φαρισαῖοι ἔλεγον αὐτῷ· ἴδε τί ποιοῦσιν (ἐν *k*) τοῖς σάββασιν ὃ οὐκ ἔξεστιν;
25 He said to them, “Have you never read what David did when he was in need and hungry—he and the men who were with him—
Καὶ (αὐτὸς *k*) (λέγει *N(k)O*) αὐτοῖς· οὐδέποτε ἀνέγνωτε τί ἐποίησεν Δαυὶδ ὅτε χρείαν ἔσχεν καὶ ἐπείνασεν αὐτὸς καὶ οἱ μετ᾽ αὐτοῦ;
26 how he went into the house of God when Abiathar was high priest, and ate the bread of the presence, which it is unlawful for anyone to eat except the priests, and he even gave some to those who were with him?”
πῶς εἰσῆλθεν εἰς τὸν οἶκον τοῦ θεοῦ ἐπὶ Ἀβιαθὰρ (τοῦ *k*) ἀρχιερέως καὶ τοὺς ἄρτους τῆς προθέσεως ἔφαγεν οὓς οὐκ ἔξεστιν φαγεῖν εἰ μὴ (τοὺς ἱερεῖς, *N(k)O*) καὶ ἔδωκεν καὶ τοῖς σὺν αὐτῷ οὖσιν;
27 Jesus said, “The Sabbath was made for mankind, not mankind for the Sabbath.
καὶ ἔλεγεν αὐτοῖς· τὸ σάββατον διὰ τὸν ἄνθρωπον ἐγένετο, (καὶ *no*) οὐχ ὁ ἄνθρωπος διὰ τὸ σάββατον.
28 Therefore, the Son of Man is Lord, even of the Sabbath.”
ὥστε κύριός ἐστιν ὁ υἱὸς τοῦ ἀνθρώπου καὶ τοῦ σαββάτου.
