Lamentations 5
1 Remember, Yahweh, what has happened to us; look and see our disgrace.
Acuérdate, o! Jehová, de lo que nos ha venido: vé, y mira nuestra vergüenza.
2 Our inheritance has been turned over to strangers; our houses to foreigners.
Nuestra heredad se ha vuelto a extraños, nuestras casas a forasteros.
3 We have become orphans, the fatherless, and our mothers are like widows.
Huérfanos somos sin padre: nuestras madres como viudas.
4 We must pay silver for the water we drink, and we must pay silver to get our own wood.
Nuestra agua bebemos por dinero, nuestra leña compramos por precio.
5 Those who are coming after us are close behind us; we are weary and we can find no rest.
Sobre nuestra cerviz padecemos persecución; cansámosnos, y no hay para nosotros descanso.
6 We have given ourselves to Egypt and to Assyria to get enough food.
A Egipto dimos la mano, y al Asirio, para hartarnos de pan.
7 Our fathers sinned, and they are no more, and we bear their iniquities.
Nuestros padres pecaron, y son muertos; y nosotros llevamos sus castigos.
8 Slaves rule over us, and there is no one to deliver us from their hand.
Siervos se enseñorearon de nosotros: no hubo quien nos librase de su mano.
9 We get our bread only by risking our lives, because of the sword in the wilderness.
Con el peligro de nuestras vidas traíamos nuestro pan delante de la espada del desierto.
10 Our skin has grown as hot as an oven because of the burning heat of hunger.
Nuestros cueros se ennegrecieron como un horno a causa del ardor de la hambre.
11 Women are raped in Zion, and virgins in the cities of Judah.
Afligieron a las mujeres en Sión, a las vírgenes en las ciudades de Judá.
12 Princes are hung up by their own hands, and no honor is shown to the elders.
A los príncipes colgaron con su mano: no reverenciaron los rostros de los viejos.
13 Young men are forced to grind grain with a millstone, and boys stagger under heavy loads of wood.
Llevaron los mozos a moler, y los muchachos desfallecieron en la leña.
14 The elders have left the city gate, and the young men have left their music.
Los ancianos cesaron de la puerta, los mancebos de sus canciones.
15 The joy of our heart has ceased and our dancing has turned into mourning.
Cesó el gozo de nuestro corazón, nuestro corro se tornó en luto.
16 The crown has fallen from our head; woe to us, for we have sinned!
Cayó la corona de nuestra cabeza: ¡ay ahora de nosotros! porque pecamos.
17 For this our heart has become sick, for these things our eyes grow dim
Por esto fue entristecido nuestro corazón, por esto se entenebrecieron nuestros ojos.
18 for Mount Zion lies desolate, with jackals prowling over it.
Por el monte de Sión que es asolado, zorras andan en él.
19 But you, Yahweh, reign forever, and you will sit upon your throne from generation to generation.
Mas tú, Jehová, para siempre permanecerás: tu trono de generación en generación.
20 Why do you forget us forever? Why do you forsake us for so many days?
¿Por qué te olvidarás para siempre de nosotros? ¿dejarnos has por luengos días?
21 Restore us to yourself, Yahweh, and we will be restored. Renew our days as they were long ago—
Vuélvenos, o! Jehová, a ti, y volvernos hemos: renueva nuestros días como al principio.
22 unless you have utterly rejected us and you are angry with us beyond measure.
Porque desechando nos has desechado: háste airado contra nosotros en gran manera.
