< Lamentations 4 >

1 The gold has become tarnished; how the purest gold has changed! The holy stones are scattered at the corner of every street.
Sui te bahoeng muhut, sui then khaw tho uh, lungto cim khaw tollong tom kah taphung ah a hawk uh.
2 The precious sons of Zion were worth their weight in pure gold, but now they are worth no more than clay jars, the work of the potter's hands!
Zion ca rhoek loh suicilh neh lung vang a thuek te balae tih aka picai kut dongkah a bibi tuitang paikaek bangla a poek uh.
3 Even the jackals offer the breast to nurse their cubs, but the daughter of my people has become cruel, like the ostriches in the desert.
Pongui long pataeng rhangsuk a pumcum tih a ca a khut. Ka pilnam tanu tah kalaukva khuiah khosoek kah kalaukva bangla muen.
4 The tongue of the nursing baby sticks to the roof of his mouth by thirst; the children ask for food, but there is none for them.
Tuihalh ah cahni kah a lai te a dang la kap tih camoe rhoek loh buh a hoe dae amih aka pae om pawh.
5 Those who used to feast on the finest food now starve in the streets. Those who were brought up wearing scarlet clothing now lie on piles of ashes.
Buhmong laka ca rhoek tollong ah pong hlampai dongah aka tangnah rhoek loh natva ni a kop uh.
6 The punishment of the daughter of my people is greater than that of Sodom, which was overthrown in a moment and no hands were wrung for her.
Sodom kah tholhnah lakah ka pilnam nu kathaesainah he rhoeng. Mikhaptok ah mael tih anih te kut long khaw a sambai moenih.
7 Her leaders were purer than snow, whiter than milk; their bodies were more ruddy than coral, their form was like sapphire.
A hlangcoelh rhoek te vuelsong lakah cil tih suktui lakah bok. A rhuhrhong te lungvang lakah, a pumrho te sapphire lakah thimyum.
8 Their appearance now is darker than soot; they are not recognized in the streets. Their skin has shriveled on their bones; it has become as dry as wood.
A suisak te amhmol lakah hmuep tih tollong ah hmat uh voel pawh. A vin a rhuh dongah ben uh tih thing koh bangla om.
9 Those who have been killed by the sword were happier than those killed by hunger, who wasted away, pierced by the lack of any harvest from the field.
Khokha dongah rhok lakah cunghang dongkah rhok la om te then. Amih te khohmuen thaih loh a thun tih cae uh.
10 The hands of compassionate women have boiled their own children; they became their food during the time when the daughter of my people was being destroyed.
Lungma nu rhoek kut loh a ca a thong uh tih ka pilnam canu kah pocinah dongah amih kah a caak la poeh uh.
11 Yahweh showed all his wrath; he poured out his fierce anger. He kindled a fire in Zion that consumed her foundations.
BOEIPA loh a kosi a sah tih a thintoek thinsa te a kingling. Zion ah hmai a hlup tih a khoengim a hlawp.
12 The kings of the earth did not believe, nor did any of the inhabitants of the world believe, that enemies or opponents could enter the gates of Jerusalem.
Jerusalem vongka longah rhal neh thunkha a kun te diklai manghai neh lunglai dongkah khosa boeih boeih loh tangnah uh pawh.
13 This happened because of the sins of her prophets and the iniquities of her priests who have shed the blood of the righteous in her midst.
A tonghma rhoek kah tholhnah neh a khosoih rhoek kathaesainah loh a khui ah hlangdueng kah thii a hawk sak.
14 They wandered, blind, through the streets. They were so defiled by that blood that no one was allowed to touch their clothes.
Tollong ah mikdael la vikvuek uh tih a pueinak te ben thai pawt ham thii neh nok uh.
15 “Away! Unclean!” people cried at them. “Away! Away! Do not touch!” So they wandered about; people said among the nations, “They can stay here no longer.”
Amih rhalawt rhoek te, Nong uh, nong, nong uh lamtah ben uh boeh,” tila a o uh. Yong khonghak tih a poengdoe uh vaengah, “Namtom taengkah bakuep ham khoengvoep uh boeh,” a ti uh.
16 Yahweh himself scattered them; he does not watch over them anymore. They do not honor the priests, and they did not show any favor to the elders.
BOEIPA mikhmuh ah amih a taekyak te amih paelki ham a khoep moenih. Khosoih rhoek kah maelhmai khaw dan uh pawt tih patong neh hamca rhoek khaw rhen uh pawh.
17 Our eyes failed, looking in vain for help; from our watchtowers we watched for a nation that could not rescue us.
Amih a khoengvoep bangla kamih khaw ka n'khoengvoep uh. Kaimih kah bomnah ham khaw kaimih mik ni a kha. Aka daem sak pawh namtom te kaimih kah rhaltawt lamloh n'rhaltawt thil khaw a honghi ni.
18 They followed our steps, we could not walk in our streets. Our end was near and our days were numbered, our end had come.
Kaimih kah toltung ah pongpa ham kaimih kah kholaeh a thuih uh. Kaimih kah a bawtnah loh ha tawn uh tih kaimih kah khohnin a cup coeng dongah kaimih kah a bawknah ha pawk coeng.
19 Our pursuers were swifter than the eagles in the sky. They chased us to the mountains and lay in wait for us in the wilderness.
Kaimih aka hloem rhoek te vaan kahatha lakah kapyang la om uh. Kaimih he tlang ah n'hlak tih khosoek ah khaw kaimih n'rhongngol thiluh.
20 The breath in our nostrils—Yahweh's anointed one—he was the one who was captured in their pits; of whom it was said, “Under his shadow we will live among the nations.”
BOEIPA loh a koelh kaimih hnarhong lamkah hil pataeng amih kah rhomhmop ah man. Te te namtom taengah khaw, “A hlipkhup ah n'hing uh bitni,” n'ti uh dae ta.
21 Rejoice and be glad, daughter of Edom, you who live in the land of Uz. But to you also the cup will be passed; you will be drunk and strip yourself naked.
Uz Kho kah khosa, khosa Edom nu rhoek ngaingaih uh lamtah kohoe sakuh. Nang te khaw boengloeng loh m'paan tih na rhuihmil neh na yan uh bitni.
22 Daughter of Zion, your punishment will come to an end; he will not extend your exile. But daughter of Edom, he will punish; he will uncover your sins.
Zion nu nang kathaesainah tah bawt tih nang poelyoe ham koei voel mahpawh. Edom nu nang kathaesainah khaw a cawh vetih na tholhnah te a phoe ni.
