Judges 17
1 There was a man in the hill country of Ephraim, and his name was Micah.
Il y avait un homme de la montagne d'Éphraïm, dont le nom était Michée.
2 He said to his mother, “The 1,100 pieces of silver that were taken from you, about which you spoke a curse, and which I heard—look here! I have the silver with me. I stole it.” His mother said, “May Yahweh bless you, my son!”
Il dit à sa mère: « Les onze cents pièces d'argent qui t'ont été enlevées, et au sujet desquelles tu as proféré une malédiction et tu l'as dit à mes oreilles, voici, l'argent est avec moi. Je l'ai pris. » Sa mère a dit: « Que Yahvé bénisse mon fils! »
3 He restored the 1,100 pieces of silver to his mother and his mother said, “I set apart this silver to Yahweh, for my son to make carved and cast metal figures. So now, I restore it to you.”
Il rendit les onze cents pièces d'argent à sa mère, puis sa mère dit: « Je consacre très certainement l'argent de ma main à Yahvé pour mon fils, pour faire une image taillée et une image en fusion. Je vais donc maintenant te le restituer. »
4 When he restored the money to his mother, his mother took two hundred pieces of silver and gave them to a metal worker who made them into carved and cast metal figures, and they were placed in the house of Micah.
Lorsqu'il rendit l'argent à sa mère, celle-ci prit deux cents pièces d'argent et les donna à un orfèvre, qui en fit une image taillée et une image en fusion. Elle était dans la maison de Michée.
5 The man Micah had a house of idols and he made an ephod and household gods, and he hired one of his sons to become his priest.
L'homme Michée avait une maison de dieux, et il fit un éphod et des théraphim, et il consacra un de ses fils, qui devint son prêtre.
6 In those days there was no king in Israel, and everyone did what was right in his own eyes.
En ce temps-là, il n'y avait pas de roi en Israël. Chacun faisait ce qui était juste à ses propres yeux.
7 Now there was a young man of Bethlehem in Judah, of the clan of Judah, who was a Levite. He stayed there to fulfill his duties.
Il y avait un jeune homme de Bethléhem de Juda, de la famille de Juda, qui était lévite, et il habitait là.
8 The man left Bethlehem in Judah to go and find a place to live. As he journeyed, he came to Micah's house in the hill country of Ephraim.
Cet homme sortit de la ville, de Bethléhem Juda, pour habiter là où il pourrait trouver un endroit, et il arriva dans la montagne d'Ephraïm, dans la maison de Michée, comme il voyageait.
9 Micah said to him, “Where do you come from?” The man said to him, “I am a Levite of Bethlehem in Judah, and I am traveling to find a place where I might live.”
Michée lui dit: « D'où viens-tu? » Il lui dit: « Je suis un lévite de Bethléem en Judée, et je cherche un endroit pour vivre. »
10 Micah said to him, “Stay with me, and be to me a father and a priest. I will give you ten pieces of silver a year, a suit of clothes, and your food.” So the Levite went into his house.
Michée lui dit: « Habite avec moi, et sois pour moi un père et un prêtre, et je te donnerai dix pièces d'argent par an, un vêtement et ta nourriture. » Le Lévite entra donc.
11 The Levite was content to live with the man, and the young man became to Micah like one of his sons.
Le Lévite se contenta de demeurer avec cet homme, et le jeune homme fut pour lui comme l'un de ses fils.
12 Micah set apart the Levite for sacred duties, and the young man became his priest, and was in Micah's house.
Michée consacra le Lévite, et le jeune homme devint son prêtre, et il demeura dans la maison de Michée.
13 Then Micah said, “Now I know that Yahweh will do good for me, because this Levite has become my priest.”
Et Michée dit: « Maintenant je sais que l'Éternel me fera du bien, puisque j'ai un Lévite comme prêtre. »
