Judges 10

1 After Abimelech, Tola son of Puah son of Dodo, a man from Issachar who lived in Shamir, in the hill country of Ephraim, arose to deliver Israel.

Efter Abimelek uppstod till Israels frälsning Tola, son till Pua, son till Dodo, en man från Isaskar; och han bodde i Samir, i Efraims bergsbygd.

2 He judged Israel twenty-three years. He died and was buried in Shamir.

Han var domare i Israel i tjugutre år; sedan dog han och blev begraven i Samir.

3 He was followed by Jair the Gileadite. He judged Israel twenty-two years.

Efter honom uppstod gileaditen Jair. Han var domare i Israel i tjugutvå år.

4 He had thirty sons who rode on thirty donkeys, and they had thirty cities, which are called Havvoth Jair to this day, which are in the land of Gilead.

Han hade trettio söner, som plägade rida på trettio åsnor; och de hade trettio städer. Dessa kallar man ännu i dag Jairs byar, och de ligga i Gileads land.

5 Jair died and was buried in Kamon.

Och Jair dog och blev begraven i Kamon.

6 The people of Israel added to the evil they had done in the sight of Yahweh and worshiped the Baals, the Ashtoreths, the gods of Aram, the gods of Sidon, the gods of Moab, the gods of the people of Ammon, and the gods of the Philistines. They abandoned Yahweh and no longer worshiped him.

Men Israels barn gjorde åter vad ont var i HERRENS ögon och tjänade Baalerna och Astarterna, så ock Arams, Sidons, Moabs, Ammons barns och filistéernas gudar och övergåvo HERREN och tjänade honom icke.

7 Yahweh burned with anger toward Israel, and he sold them into the hand of the Philistines and into the hand of the Ammonites.

Då upptändes HERRENS vrede mot Israel, och han sålde dem i filistéernas och Ammons barns hand.

8 They crushed and oppressed the people of Israel that year, and for eighteen years they oppressed all the people of Israel who were beyond the Jordan in the land of the Amorites, which is in Gilead.

Och dessa plågade Israels barn och förforo våldsamt mot dem det året; i aderton år gjorde de så mot alla de israeliter som bodde på andra sidan Jordan, i amoréernas land, i Gilead.

9 Then the Ammonites crossed over the Jordan to fight against Judah, against Benjamin, and against the house of Ephraim, so that Israel was greatly distressed.

Därtill gingo Ammons barn över Jordan och gåvo sig i strid också med Juda, Benjamin och Efraims hus, så att Israel kom i stor nöd.

10 Then the people of Israel called out to Yahweh, saying, “We have sinned against you, because we abandoned our God and worshiped the Baals.”

Då ropade Israels barn till HERREN och sade: "Vi hava syndat mot dig, ty vi hava övergivit vår Gud och tjänat Baalerna."

11 Yahweh said to the people of Israel, “Did I not deliver you from the Egyptians, the Amorites, the Ammonites, the Philistines,

Men HERREN sade till Israels barn: "Har jag icke frälst eder från egyptierna, amoréerna, Ammons barn och filistéerna?

12 and also from the Sidonians? The Amalekites and the Maonites oppressed you; you called out to me, and I delivered you from their power.

Likaledes bleven I förtryckta av sidonierna, amalekiterna och maoniterna; och när I ropaden till mig, frälste jag eder från deras hand.

13 Yet you abandoned me again and worshiped other gods. Therefore, I will not keep adding to the times I deliver you.

Men I haven nu övergivit mig och tjänat andra gudar; därför vill jag icke mer frälsa eder.

14 Go and call out to the gods that you have worshiped. Let them rescue you when you have trouble.”

Gån bort och ropen till de gudar som I haven utvalt; må de frälsa eder, om I nu ären i nöd.

15 The people of Israel said to Yahweh, “We have sinned. Do to us whatever seems good to you. Only please, rescue us this day.”

Då sade Israels barn till HERREN: "Vi hava syndat; gör du med oss alldeles såsom dig täckes. Allenast rädda oss nu denna gång."

16 They got rid of the foreign gods among them and they worshiped Yahweh. Then Yahweh could bear Israel's misery no longer.

Därefter skaffade de bort ifrån sig de främmande gudarna och tjänade HERREN. Då kunde han icke längre lida att se Israels vedermöda.

17 Then Ammonites gathered together and set up camp in Gilead. The Israelites came together and set up their camp at Mizpah.

Och Ammons barn blevo uppbådade och lägrade sig i Gilead; men Israels barn församlade sig och lägrade sig i Mispa.

18 The leaders of the people of Gilead said one to another, “Who is the man who will begin to fight the Ammonites? He will become the leader over all those who are living in Gilead.”

Då sade folket, nämligen de överste i Gilead, till varandra: "Vem vill begynna striden mot Ammons barn? Den som det vill skall bliva hövding över alla Gileads inbyggare."
