Joshua 21

1 Then the tribal leaders of the Levites came to Eleazar the priest, to Joshua son of Nun, and to the leaders of the families of their ancestors within the people of Israel.

Nun traten die Familienoberhäupter der Leviten zu dem Priester Eleazar und zu Josue, Nuns Sohn, sowie zu den Stammhäuptern der israelitischen Stämme

2 They said to them at Shiloh in the land of Canaan, “Yahweh commanded you by the hand of Moses to give to us cities to live in, with the pasturelands for our livestock.”

und sprachen zu ihnen in Silo im Lande Kanaan: "Der Herr hat durch Moses befohlen, uns Städte zu Siedlungen und ihre Weiden für unser Vieh zu geben."

3 So by the command of Yahweh, the people of Israel gave out of their inheritance the following cities, including their pasturelands, to the Levites.

Da gaben die Israeliten auf des Herrn Befehl von ihrem Erbbesitz den Leviten folgende Städte mit ihren Weiden:

4 The casting of lots for the clans of the Kohathites gave this result: The priests—the descendants of Aaron who were from the Levites—received thirteen cities given from the tribe of Judah, from the tribe of the Simeon, and from the tribe of Benjamin.

Das Los fiel auf die Kehatitensippen, und so erhielten bei den Leviten die Söhne des Priesters Aaron vom Judastamme, vom Simeonitenstamme und vom Stamme Benjamin durch das Los dreizehn Städte.

5 The rest of the Kohathites were allotted ten cities from the clans of the tribes of Ephraim, Dan, and from the half tribe of Manasseh.

Die anderen Kehatiten aber erhielten von den Sippen des Ephraimstammes, dem Stamme Dan und von dem Halbstamme Manasse durch das Los zehn Städte.

6 Then the people descended from Gershon were given, by the casting of lots, thirteen cities from the clans of the tribes of Issachar, Asher, Naphtali, and the half tribe of Manasseh in Bashan.

Die Gersoniten erhielten von den Sippen des Issakarstammes, vom Asserstamme, vom Stamme Naphtali und vom Halbstamme Manasse in Basan durch Los dreizehn Städte.

7 The people who were descendants of Merari, clan by clan, received twelve cities from the tribes of Reuben, Gad, and Zebulun.

Die Sippen der Merariten erhielten vom Stamme Ruben, vom Stamme Gad und vom Zabulonstamme zwölf Städte.

8 So the people of Israel gave, by casting lots, these cities (including their pasturelands) to the Levites, just as Yahweh had commanded by the hand of Moses.

Und die Israeliten übergaben den Leviten diese Städte samt ihren Weiden durch das Los, wie der Herr durch Moses befohlen hatte.

9 From the tribes of Judah and Simeon, they assigned land to the following cities, here listed by name.

Vom Stamme der Judasöhne und der Simeoniten trat man diese Städte ab, die man jetzt mit Namen nennt.

10 These cities were given to the descendants of Aaron, who were among the clans of the Kohathites, who in turn were from the tribe of Levi. For the first casting of lots had fallen to them.

Von den Sippen der Kehatiter unter Levis Söhnen bekamen die Aaronsöhne, weil auf sie zuerst das Los fiel,

11 The Israelites gave them Kiriath Arba (Arba had been the father of Anak), the same place as Hebron, in the hill country of Judah, with the pasturelands around it.

die Stadt Arbas, des Vaters Enaks, das ist Hebron, auf dem Gebirge Juda samt ihren Weiden ringsum.

12 But the fields of the city, including their villages, were already given to Caleb son of Jephunneh, as his possession.

Die Markung der Stadt mit ihren Dörfern aber hatte man Kaleb, Jephunnes Sohn, zu seinem Erbbesitze gegeben.

13 To the descendants of Aaron the priest they gave Hebron with its pasturelands—which was a city of refuge for any who killed another unintentionally—and Libnah with its pasturelands,

Den Söhnen des Priesters Aaron hatte man Hebron gegeben, die Zufluchtsstadt der Totschläger, samt ihren Weiden, ebenso Libna,

14 Jattir with its pasturelands, and Eshtemoa with its pasturelands.

Jattir, Estemona,

15 They also gave Holon with its pasturelands, Debir with its pasturelands,

Cholon, Debir,

16 Ain with its pasturelands, Juttah with its pasturelands, and Beth Shemesh with its pasturelands. There were nine cities that were given from these two tribes.

Ajin, Juta, Bet Semes je mit ihren Weiden, neun Städte von seiten jener beiden Stämme.

17 From the tribe of Benjamin were given Gibeon with its pasturelands, Geba with its pasturelands,

Und vom Stamme Benjamin Gibeon samt seinen Weiden, ebenso Geba,

18 Anathoth with its pasturelands, and Almon with its suburbs—four cities.

Anatot und Almon, vier Städte.

19 The cities given to the priests, the descendants of Aaron, were thirteen cities in all, including their pasturelands.

Somit bekamen die Söhne des Priesters Aaron insgesamt dreizehn Städte mit ihren Weiden.

20 As for the rest of Kohathites who belong to the Kohathite clans of the Levites—they had cities given to them from the tribe of Ephraim by the casting of lots.

Den Sippen der übrigen levitischen Kehatsöhne wurden ihre Losstädte vom Stamm Ephraim abgetreten.

21 To them were given Shechem with its pasturelands in the hill country of Ephraim—a city of refuge for any who killed a person unintentionally—Gezer with its pasturelands,

Man gab ihnen Sichem als Zufluchtsstadt der Totschläger, mit ihren Weiden auf dem Gebirge Ephraim, ebenso Gezer,

22 Kibzaim with its pasturelands, and Beth Horon with its pasturelands—four cities in all.

Kibsaim und Bet Choron je mit ihren Weiden, vier Städte.

23 From the tribe of Dan, the clan of Kohath was given Eltekeh with its pasturelands, Gibbethon with its pasturelands,

Vom Stamme Dan Elteke, Gibbeton,

24 Aijalon with its pasturelands, and Gath Rimmon with its pasturelands—four cities in all.

Ajjalon und Gat Rimmon je mit ihren Weiden, vier Städte.

25 From the half tribe of Manasseh, the clan of Kohath was given Taanach with its pasturelands and Gath Rimmon with its pasturelands—two cities.

Vom Halbstamme Manasse Taanak und Gat Rimmon mit je ihren Weiden, zwei Städte.

26 There were ten cities in all for the rest of the clans of the Kohathites, including their pasturelands.

Somit bekamen die Sippen der übrigen Kehatsöhne insgesamt zehn Städte Mit ihren Weiden.

27 From the half tribe of Manasseh, to clans of Gershon, these were other Levite clans, and they gave Golan in Bashan with its pasturelands—a city of refuge for anyone who killed another unintentionally, along with Be Eshterah with its pasturelands—two cities in all.

Die Gersoniten unter den Levitensippen bekamen vom Halbstamme Manasse Golan als Zufluchtsstadt der Totschläger, in Basan und Astarot, je mit ihren Weiden, zwei Städte.

28 To the clans of Gershon they also gave Kishion from the tribe of Issachar, along with its pasturelands, Daberath with its pasturelands,

Vom Issakarstamme Kisjon, Daberat,

29 Jarmuth with its pasturelands, and En Gannim with its pasturelands—four cities.

Jarmut und En Gannim je mit ihren Weiden, vier Städte.

30 From the tribe of Asher, they gave Mishal with its pasturelands, Abdon with its pasturelands,

Vom Asserstamme Misal, Abdon

31 Helkath with its pasturelands, and Rehob with its pasturelands—four cities in all.

Chelkat und Rechob je mit ihren Weiden, vier Städte.

32 From the tribe of Naphtali, they gave the clans of Gershon Kedesh in Galilee with its pasturelands—a city of refuge for anyone who killed another unintentionally; Hammoth Dor with its pasturelands, and Kartan with its pasturelands—three cities in all.

Vom Naphtalistamme Kedes als Zufluchtsstadt der Totschläger in Galiläa, Chammot Dor und Kartan je mit ihren Weiden, drei Städte.

33 There were thirteen cities in all, out of the clans of Gershon, including their pasturelands.

Somit bekamen die Gersonitensippen insgesamt dreizehn Städte mit ihren Weiden.

34 To the rest of the Levites—the clans of Merari—were given out of the tribe of Zebulun: Jokneam with its pasturelands, Kartah with its pasturelands,

Die übrigen levitischen Meraritensippen bekamen vom Zabulonstamme Jokneam, Karta,

35 Dimnah with its pasturelands, and Nahalal with its pasturelands—four cities in all.

Dimna und Nahalal mit ihren Weiden, vier Städte.

36 To the clans of Merari were given from the tribe of Reuben: Bezer with its pasturelands, Jahaz with its pasturelands,

Vom Rubenstamme Beser, Jahsa,

37 Kedemoth with its pasturelands, and Mephaath with its pasturelands—four cities.

Kedemot und Mephaat je mit ihren Weiden, vier Städte.

38 Out of the tribe of Gad they were given Ramoth in Gilead with its pasturelands—a city of refuge for any who killed another unintentionally—and Mahanaim with its pasturelands.

Vom Stamme Gad Ramot als Zufluchtsstadt der Totschläger in Gilead, Machanaim,

39 The clans of Merari were also given Heshbon with its pasturelands, and Jazer with its pasturelands. These were four cities in all.

Chesbon und Jazer je mit ihren Weiden, insgesamt vier Städte.

40 All these were the cities of the several clans of Merari, who were from the tribe of Levi—twelve cities in all were given to them by the casting of lots.

So bekamen die von den Levitensippen übrigen Meraritensippen als ihr Los zwölf Städte.

41 The cities of the Levites taken from the middle of the land possessed by the people of Israel were forty-eight cities, including their pasturelands.

Es waren also achtundvierzig Städte samt ihren Weiden inmitten des israelitischen Erbbesitzes Levitenstädte.

42 These cities each had its surrounding pasturelands. It was this way with all these cities.

Diese Städte bestanden jedesmal aus einer Stadt und ihrer Weide ringsum. So war es bei all diesen Städten.

43 So Yahweh gave to Israel all the land that he swore to give to their ancestors. The Israelites took possession of it and settled there.

So gab der Herr Israel das ganze Land, das zu geben ihren Vätern er zugeschworen. Sie besetzten es und siedelten darin.

44 Then Yahweh gave them rest on every side, just as he had sworn to their ancestors. Not one of their enemies could defeat them. Yahweh gave all their enemies into their hand.

Und der Herr gab ihnen ringsum Ruhe, wie er ihren Vätern geschworen hatte. Von all ihren Feinden hatte keiner gegen sie standgehalten. Der Herr hatte all ihre Feinde in ihre Hand gegeben.

45 Not one thing among all the good promises that Yahweh had spoken to the house of Israel failed to come true. All of them came to be.

Von all den Verheißungen, die der Herr dem Haus Israel gegeben, war keine ausgeblieben. Alle waren in Erfüllung gegangen.
