1 Then Joshua son of Nun secretly sent two men out from Shittim as spies. He said, “Go, look over the land, especially Jericho.” They went away and came to the house of a prostitute whose name was Rahab, and they lodged there.
Joshua nwa Nun sitere na Shitim zipụ ndị nnyopụta abụọ na nzuzo sị ha, “Gaanụ leta otu ihe si aga nʼala ahụ, karịsịa nʼobodo Jeriko.” Ha gara nʼobodo ahụ baa nʼụlọ nwanyị akwụna aha ya bụ Rehab nọọ ọnọdụ nʼebe ahụ.
2 It was told to the king of Jericho, “Look, men of Israel have come here to spy on the land.”
Ma otu onye gwara eze Jeriko okwu sị, “Lee, ụfọdụ ụmụ ndị ikom Izrel batara obodo a nʼabalị inyochapụta ala anyị.”
3 The king of Jericho sent word to Rahab and said, “Bring out the men who have come to you who entered your house, for they have come to spy on the whole land.”
Mgbe eze Jeriko nụrụ okwu a, o zigaara Rehab ozi sị, “Kpọpụta ndị ikom ahụ batara nʼụlọ gị nʼihi na ha bịara iledo ala anyị.”
4 But the woman had taken the two men and hidden them. She replied, “Yes, the men came to me, but I did not know where they were from.
Ma nwanyị ahụ zoro mmadụ abụọ ahụ. Mgbe ndị ahụ e ziri ozi bịarutere, ọ gwara ha okwu sị, “Ọ bụ eziokwu na ndị ikom ahụ bakwutere m, ma amaghị m ebe ha si bịa.
5 They left when it was dusk, when it was time for the city gate to shut. I do not know where they went. You will probably catch them if you hurry after them.”
Ma ha apụọlarị. Ha hapụrụ obodo a mgbe a na-achọ imechi ọnụ ụzọ ama, nʼoge ọchịchịrị bidoro ịgba. Amaghị m ebe ha gara. Ma, nʼuche m, ọ bụrụ na unu achụso ha ọsọ ọsịịsọ unu nwere ike ijide ha.”
6 But she had taken them up to the roof and hidden them with the stalks of flax that she had laid out on the roof.
(Nʼeziokwu ọ bụ Rehab nʼonwe ya mere ka mmadụ abụọ ahụ rigoro nʼelu ụlọ ebe o zoro ha nʼokpuru ahịhịa flakisi ọ wụsara nʼebe ahụ.)
7 So the men pursued them on the road that leads to the fords of the Jordan. The gate was shut as soon as the pursuers went out.
Ya mere, ndị ikom ahụ pụrụ na-achụ ndị nnyopụta ahụ nʼakụkụ ụzọ gara ngabiga Jọdan. Ma ngwangwa ha pụrụ, e mechiri ọnụ ụzọ ama e si abata obodo ahụ.
8 The men had not yet lain down for the night, when she came up to them on the roof.
Ma tupu ndị nnyopụta ahụ edina ala ịrahụ ụra nʼabalị ahụ, Rehab rịgokwuru ha,
9 She said, “I know that Yahweh has given you the land and that the fear of you has come upon us. All those who live in the land will melt away before you.
gwa ha sị, “Ama m na Onyenwe anyị enyela unu ala a, marakwa na oke ụjọ nke egwu unu adakwasịla anyị, nke mere na ndị niile bi nʼime ala a na-agbaze nʼegwu nʼihi unu,
10 We have heard how Yahweh dried up the water of the Sea of Reeds for you when you came out of Egypt. We also heard what you did to the two kings of the Amorites on other side of the Jordan—Sihon and Og—whom you completely destroyed.
nʼihi na anyị anụla otu Onyenwe anyị si mee ka mmiri dị nʼOsimiri Uhie taa nʼihi unu, mgbe unu si nʼIjipt pụta. Anyị nụkwara ihe unu mere Saịhọn, na Ọg, bụ eze abụọ ndị Amọrị, ndị bi nʼọwụwa anyanwụ osimiri Jọdan, otu unu si bibie ha, gbuchapụ ndị niile bi nʼala ahụ.
11 As soon as we had heard it, our hearts melted and there was no courage left in anyone—for Yahweh your God, he is God in heaven above and on the earth below.
Ma mgbe anyị nụrụ ihe ndị a, obi anyị gbazere nʼihi ụjọ, mmụọ onye ọbụla dara mba nʼihi unu, nʼihi na Onyenwe anyị Chineke unu bụ Chineke nʼeluigwe na nʼụwa.
12 Now then, please swear to me by Yahweh that, just as I have been kind to you, you will also deal kindly with my father's house. Give me a sure sign
“Ugbu a, ebe ọ bụ na m emeelara unu ebere, jirinụ Onyenwe anyị ṅụọrọ m iyi na unu ga-emere ezinaụlọ m ebere. Gosinụ m ihe ịrịbama nʼeziokwu,
13 that you will spare the lives of my father, mother, brothers, sisters and all their families, and that you will save us from death.”
na unu ga-emekwa ka ndụ nna m, na nne m, na ụmụnne m ndị ikom na ndị inyom, na ndị ezinaụlọ ha niile dịrị, na unu ga-anapụta anyị site nʼọnwụ.”
14 The men said to her, “Our life for yours, even to death! If you do not speak about our business, then, when Yahweh gives us this land we will be merciful and faithful to you.”
Ndị ikom ahụ kwere ya nkwa sị, “Ndụ anyị lara ndụ unu. Ọ bụrụ na ị gbaghị anyị ama, anyị ga-egosi gị obi ebere na ikwesi ntụkwasị obi mgbe Onyenwe anyị ga-enye anyị ala a.”
15 So she let them down out through the window using a rope. The house in which she lived was built into the wall of the city.
Ụlọ Rehab dị nʼakụkụ mgbidi obodo ahụ. O ji ụdọ site na oghereikuku wedata ndị ikom abụọ ahụ.
16 She said to them, “Go in the hills and hide or the pursuers will find you. Hide there for three days until the pursuers have returned. Then go on your way.”
Ọ gwakwara ha sị, “Gbalaganụ nʼugwu, zoonụ onwe unu nʼebe ahụ ụbọchị atọ, tutu ndị ahụ na-achọ unu alaghachi azụ. Mgbe ahụ, unu nwere ike ịpụta laghachi ebe unu si bịa.”
17 The men said to her, “We will be not be bound to the promises of the oath you made us swear to, if you do not do this.
Ndị ahụ gwara ya sị, “Iyi a i mere ka anyị ṅụọ agaghị adị ire megide anyị,
18 When we come into the land, you must tie this scarlet rope in the window through which you let us down, and you will gather into the house your father and mother, your brothers and all your father's household.
ma ọ bụrụ na nʼụbọchị ahụ anyị ga-abata ala a, i wereghị ụdọ ahụ na-acha uhie uhie kenye ya na oghereikuku i si wedata anyị, ma ọ bụrụkwa na ịkpọbataghị nʼụlọ gị nna gị, na nne gị, na ụmụnne gị ndị ikom, na ndị ezinaụlọ gị niile.
19 Whoever goes out of the doors of your house into the street, their blood will be upon their own heads and we will be guiltless. But if a hand is laid upon any who is with you in the house, his blood will be on our head.
Ọ bụrụ na onye ọbụla esite nʼụlọ gị pụọ nʼezi, ọbara ya agaghị adị anyị nʼisi, anyị agaghị abụkwa ndị ikpe mara. Ma ikpe ọmụma dịrị anyị ma ọ bụrụ nʼihe ọbụla emee onye ọbụla gị na ya so nọdụ nʼime ụlọ.
20 But if you speak about our business, we will be free from the oath you made us swear.”
Ma ọ bụrụ na ị gbaa anyị ama, ọ dịkwaghị iwu ji anyị imezu iyi a i mere ka anyị ṅụọrọ gị.”
21 Rahab replied, “May what you say be done.” She sent them away and they left. Then she tied the scarlet rope in the window.
Rehab zara sị ha, “Dịka okwu niile unu kwuru si dị, otu a ka ọ ga-adị.” O zilagara ha. Ha pụkwara gaara onwe ha. Ma Rehab kekwasịrị ụdọ uhie uhie ahụ nʼọnụ oghereikuku ụlọ ya.
22 They left and went up into the hills and they stayed there three days until their pursuers returned. The pursuers searched all along the road and found nothing.

23 The two men returned and crossed over and came back to Joshua son of Nun, and they told him everything that had happened to them.
Emesịa, mmadụ abụọ ahụ e zipụrụ iledo ala ahụ anya sitere nʼebe ha zoro onwe ha rịpụta, gafee osimiri Jọdan, laghachi nʼebe ụmụ Izrel nọ. Ha bịara kọọrọ Joshua nwa Nun otu ha si gaa ije ha.
24 They said to Joshua, “Truly Yahweh has given this land to us. All the inhabitants of the land are melting away because of us.”
Ha gwara Joshua sị, “Nʼezie, Onyenwe anyị enyela anyị ala ahụ niile, nʼihi na ndị niile bi nʼala ahụ na-atụ anyị ụjọ.”
