Joshua 14
1 These are the areas of land that the people of Israel received as their inheritance in the land of Canaan, which Eleazar the priest, Joshua son of Nun, and the the tribal leaders of Israel allotted to them.
Estas são as heranças que os filhos de Israel levaram na terra de Canaã, que Eleazar, o sacerdote, Josué, filho de Freira, e os chefes das casas dos pais das tribos dos filhos de Israel, distribuíram a eles,
2 Their inheritance was selected by lot for the nine and one-half tribes, just as Yahweh had commanded by the hand of Moses.
pelo lote de sua herança, como Iavé ordenou Moisés, para as nove tribos, e para a meia tribo.
3 For Moses had given the inheritance of the two and one-half tribes beyond the Jordan, but to the Levites he gave no inheritance.
Pois Moisés havia dado a herança das duas tribos e da meia tribo além do Jordão; mas aos levitas ele não deu nenhuma herança entre eles.
4 The tribe of Joseph was actually two tribes, Manasseh and Ephraim. The Levites were given no portion of the inheritance in the land, but only certain cities to live in, with their pasturelands for livestock and for their own material resources.
Para os filhos de José eram duas tribos, Manassés e Efraim. Eles não deram nenhuma parte para os levitas na terra, exceto cidades para morar, com suas terras de pasto para seu gado e para seus bens.
5 The people of Israel did as Yahweh commanded Moses, so they assigned the land.
Os filhos de Israel fizeram como Javé ordenou a Moisés, e eles dividiram a terra.
6 Then the tribe of Judah came to Joshua at Gilgal. Caleb son of Jephunneh the Kenizzite, said to him, “You know what Yahweh said to Moses the man of God concerning you and me at Kadesh Barnea.
Então os filhos de Judá se aproximaram de Josué em Gilgal. Caleb, filho de Jefoné, o quenizita, disse-lhe: “Você sabe o que Javé falou a Moisés, o homem de Deus, sobre mim e sobre você em Kadesh Barnea.
7 I was forty years old when Moses the servant of Yahweh sent me from Kadesh Barnea to spy on the land. I brought him a report again as it was in my heart to make.
Eu tinha quarenta anos quando Moisés, servo de Javé, me enviou de Kadesh Barnea para espionar a terra. Trouxe-lhe novamente a palavra como estava em meu coração.
8 But my brothers who went up with me made the heart of the people melt with fear. But I completely followed Yahweh my God.
Nevertheless, meus irmãos que subiram comigo fizeram o coração do povo derreter; mas eu segui totalmente Yahweh, meu Deus.
9 Moses swore on that day, saying, 'Surely the land on which your foot has walked will be an inheritance for you and for your children forever, because you have completely followed Yahweh my God.'
Moisés jurou naquele dia, dizendo: 'Certamente a terra onde andastes será uma herança para vós e para vossos filhos para sempre, porque seguistes totalmente a Iavé meu Deus'.
10 Now, look! Yahweh has kept me alive these forty-five years, just as he said—from the time when Yahweh spoke this word to Moses, while Israel walked in the wilderness. Now, look! I am this day eighty-five years old.
“Agora, eis que Javé me manteve vivo, enquanto falava, estes quarenta e cinco anos, desde que Javé disse esta palavra a Moisés, enquanto Israel caminhava no deserto. Agora, eis que tenho oitenta e cinco anos de idade, hoje.
11 I am still as strong this day as I was in the day that Moses sent me out. My strength is now as my strength was then, for war and for going and coming.
Ainda hoje estou tão forte como estava no dia em que Moisés me enviou. Como minha força era então, assim também é minha força agora para a guerra, para sair e para entrar.
12 Now therefore give me this hill country, which Yahweh promised me on that day. For you heard on that day that the Anakim were there with great fortified cities. It may be that Yahweh will be with me and that I will drive them out, just as Yahweh said.”
Agora, portanto, dê-me este país montanhoso, do qual Yahweh falou naquele dia; pois vocês ouviram naquele dia como os Anakim estavam lá, e cidades grandes e fortificadas. Pode ser que Iavé esteja comigo, e eu os expulsarei, como Iavé disse”.
13 Then Joshua blessed him and gave Hebron as an inheritance to Caleb son of Jephunneh.
Josué o abençoou; e ele deu Hebron a Calebe, filho de Jefonneh, por uma herança.
14 Therefore Hebron became the inheritance of Caleb son of Jephunneh the Kenizzite to this day, because he completely followed Yahweh, the God of Israel.
Portanto, Hebron tornou-se a herança de Calebe, filho de Jefoné, o quenizita, até hoje, porque ele seguiu Yahweh, o Deus de Israel de todo o coração.
15 Now the name of Hebron formerly was Kiriath Arba. (Arba had been the greatest man among the Anakim.) Then the land had rest from war.
Agora o nome de Hebron antes era Kiriath Arba, depois do maior homem entre os Anakim. Depois a terra teve descanso da guerra.
