< Joshua 13 >

1 Now Joshua was very old when Yahweh said to him, “You are very old, but there is still very much land to capture.
Now Joshua was old [and] advanced in years; and the LORD said to him Thou art old [and] advanced in years, and there remaineth yet very much land to be possessed.
2 This is the land that still remains: All the regions of the Philistines, and all those of the Geshurites,
This [is] the land that yet remaineth: all the borders of the Philistines, and all Geshuri,
3 from Shihor, which is east of Egypt, and northward to the border of Ekron, which is considered property of the Canaanites; the five rulers of the Philistines, those of Gaza, Ashdod, Ashkelon, Gath, and Ekron—the territory of the Avvites.
From Sihor, which [is] before Egypt, even to the borders of Ekron northward, [which] is counted to the Canaanite: five lords of the Philistines; the Gazathites, and the Ashdothites, the Eshkalonites, the Gittites, and the Ekronites; also the Avites:
4 In the south (the territory of the Avvites); all the lands of the Canaanites, from Arah that belongs to the Sidonians, as far as Aphek which is on the border of the Amorites;
From the south all the land of the Canaanites, and Mearah that [is] beside the Sidonians, to Aphek to the borders of the Amorites:
5 the land of the Gebalites, all of Lebanon toward the east, from Baal Gad below Mount Hermon to Lebo Hamath.
And the land of the Giblites, and all Lebanon towards the sun-rising, from Baal-gad under mount Hermon to the entering into Hamath.
6 Also, all the inhabitants of the hill country from Lebanon as far as Misrephoth Maim, including all the people of Sidon. I will drive them out before the army of Israel. Be sure to assign the land to Israel as an inheritance, as I commanded you.
And the inhabitants of the hill-country from Lebanon to Misrephoth-maim, [and] all the Sidonians, them will I drive out from before the children of Israel: only divide thou it by lot to the Israelites for an inheritance, as I have commanded thee.
7 Divide this land as an inheritance to the nine tribes and to the half tribe of Manasseh.”
Now therefore divide this land for an inheritance to the nine tribes, and the half tribe of Manasseh,
8 With the other half of the tribe of Manasseh, the Reubenites and the Gadites had received their inheritance that Moses gave them on the east side of the Jordan,
With whom the Reubenites and the Gadites have received their inheritance, which Moses gave them, beyond Jordan eastward, [even] as Moses the servant of the LORD gave them.
9 from Aroer, which is on the edge of the Arnon river gorge (including the city that is in the middle of the gorge), to all the plateau of Medeba as far as Dibon;
From Aroer that [is] upon the bank of the river Arnon, and the city that [is] in the midst of the river, and all the plain of Medeba to Dibon;
10 all the cities of Sihon, king of the Amorites, who ruled in Heshbon, to the border of the Ammonites;
And all the cities of Sihon king of the Amorites, who reigned in Heshbon, to the border of the children of Ammon;
11 Gilead, and the region of the Geshurites and Maacathites, all of Mount Hermon, all Bashan to Salekah;
And Gilead, and the border of the Geshurites and Maachathites, and all mount Hermon, and all Bashan to Salcah;
12 all the kingdom of Og in Bashan, who reigned in Ashtaroth and Edrei—these are what was left of the remnant of the Rephaim—Moses struck them and drove them out.
All the kingdom of Og in Bashan, who reigned in Ashtaroth and in Edrei, who remained of the remnant of the giants. For these did Moses smite, and cast them out.
13 But the people of Israel did not drive out the Geshurites or the Maacathites. Instead, Geshur and Maacath live among Israel to this day.
Nevertheless, the children of Israel expelled not the Geshurites, nor the Maachathites: but the Geshurites and the Maachathites dwell among the Israelites until this day.
14 To the tribe of Levi alone Moses gave no inheritance. The offerings of Yahweh, the God of Israel, made by fire, are their inheritance, as God said to Moses.
Only to the tribe of Levi he gave no inheritance; the sacrifices of the LORD God of Israel made by fire [are] their inheritance, as he said to them.
15 Moses gave an inheritance to the tribe of Reuben, clan by clan.
And Moses gave to the tribe of the children of Reuben [inheritance] according to their families.
16 Their territory was from Aroer, on the edge of the Arnon River gorge, and the city that is in the middle of the valley, and all the plateau by Medeba.
And their border was from Aroer that [is] on the bank of the river Arnon, and the city that [is] in the midst of the river, and all the plain by Medeba;
17 Reuben also received Heshbon and all its cities that are in the plateau, Dibon, and Bamoth Baal, and Beth Baal Meon,
Heshbon, and all her cities that [are] in the plain; Dibon, and Bamoth-baal, and Beth-baal-meon,
18 and Jahaz, and Kedemoth, and Mephaath,
And Jahaza, and Kedemoth, and Mephaath,
19 and Kiriathaim, and Sibmah, and Zereth Shahar on the hill of the valley.
And Kirjathaim, and Sibmah, and Zareth-shahar in the mount of the valley,
20 Reuben also received Beth Peor, the slopes of Pisgah, Beth Jeshimoth,
And Beth-peor, and Ashdoth-pisgah, and Beth-jeshimoth,
21 all the cities of the plateau, and all the kingdom of Sihon king of the Amorites, who had reigned in Heshbon, whom Moses had defeated together with the leaders of Midian, Evi, Rekem, Zur, Hur and Reba, the princes of Sihon, who had lived in the land.
And all the cities of the plain, and all the kingdom of Sihon king of the Amorites, who reigned in Heshbon, whom Moses smote with the princes of Midian, Evi, and Rekem, and Zur, and Hur, and Reba, dukes of Sihon, dwelling in the country.
22 The people of Israel also killed with the sword Balaam son of Beor, who practiced divination, among the rest of those they had killed.
Balaam also the son of Beor, the sooth-sayer, did the children of Israel slay with the sword, among them that were slain by them.
23 The border of the tribe of Reuben is the Jordan River; this is their boundary. This was the inheritance of the tribe of Reuben, given to each of their clans, with their cities and villages.
And the border of the children of Reuben was Jordan, and its border. This [was] the inheritance of the children of Reuben after their families, the cities and their villages.
24 This is what Moses gave to the tribe of Gad, clan by clan:
And Moses gave [inheritance] to the tribe of Gad, [even] to the children of Gad according to their families.
25 Their territory was Jazer, all the cities of Gilead and half the land of the Ammonites, to Aroer, which is east of Rabbah,
And their border was Jazer, and all the cities of Gilead, and half the land of the children of Ammon, to Aroer that [is] before Rabbah;
26 from Heshbon to Ramath Mizpah and Betonim, from Mahanaim to the territory of Debir.
And from Heshbon to Ramath-mizpeh, and Betonim; and from Mahanaim to the border of Debir;
27 In the valley, Moses gave them Beth Haram, Beth Nimrah, Succoth, and Zaphon, the rest of the kingdom of Sihon king of Heshbon, with the Jordan as a border, to the lower end of the Sea of Kinnereth, eastward beyond the Jordan.
And in the valley, Beth-aram, and Beth-nimrah, and Succoth, and Zaphon, the rest of the kingdom of Sihon king of Heshbon, Jordan and [its] border, [even] to the edge of the sea of Cinneroth, on the other side of Jordan eastward.
28 This is the inheritance of the tribe of Gad, clan by clan, with their cities and villages.
This [is] the inheritance of the children of Gad after their families, the cities, and their villages.
29 Moses gave an inheritance to the half tribe of Manasseh. It was assigned to the half tribe of the people of Manasseh, clan by clan.
And Moses gave [inheritance] to the half-tribe of Manasseh: and [this] was [the possession] of the half-tribe of the children of Manasseh by their families.
30 Their territory was from Mahanaim, all Bashan, all the kingdom of Og king of Bashan, and all the towns of Jair, which are in Bashan, sixty cities;
And their border was from Mahanaim, all Bashan, all the kingdom of Og king of Bashan, and all the towns of Jair, which [are] in Bashan, sixty cities:
31 half of Gilead, and Ashtaroth and Edrei (the royal cities of Og in Bashan). These were assigned to the clan of Machir son of Manasseh—half of the people of Machir, clan by clan.
And half Gilead, and Ashtaroth, and Edrei, cities of the kingdom of Og in Bashan, [were pertaining] to the children of Machir the son of Manasseh, [even] to the one half of the children of Machir by their families.
32 This is the inheritance that Moses assigned to them on the plains of Moab, beyond the Jordan east of Jericho.
These [are the countries] which Moses distributed for inheritance in the plains of Moab, on the other side of Jordan by Jericho eastward.
33 Moses did not give an inheritance to the tribe of Levi. Yahweh, the God of Israel, is their inheritance, just as he said to them.
But to the tribe of Levi Moses gave not [any] inheritance: the LORD God of Israel [was] their inheritance, as he said to them.
