Joshua 10
1 Now when Adoni-Zedek, king of Jerusalem, heard that Joshua had captured Ai and had completely destroyed it (just as he had done to Jericho and its king), he also heard how the people of Gibeon had made peace with Israel and were living among them.
Y cuando llegó a oídos de Adoni-zedec, rey de Jerusalén, Josué había tomado a Hai y lo había entregado a la destrucción porque como había hecho con Jericó y su rey, así había hecho con Hai y su rey habían hecho la paz con Israel y vivía entre ellos;
2 The people of Jerusalem were very afraid because Gibeon was a large city, like one of the royal cities. It was larger than Ai, and all its men were mighty warriors.
Tenía mucho miedo, porque Gabaón era una gran ciudad, como una de las ciudades del rey, más grande que Hai, y de gran realeza, además todos los hombres en ella eran hombres de guerra.
3 So Adoni-Zedek, king of Jerusalem, sent a message to Hoham, king of Hebron, to Piram, king of Jarmuth, to Japhia, king of Lachish, and to Debir, king of Eglon:
Entonces Adonizedec, rey de Jerusalén, envió a Hoham, rey de Hebrón, a Piream, rey de Jarmut, a Jafía, rey de Laquis, y a Debir, rey de Eglón, diciendo:
4 “Come up to me and help me. Let us attack Gibeon because they have made peace with Joshua and with the people of Israel.”
Acércate a mí y ayúdame, y hagamos un ataque contra Gabaón, porque han hecho las paces con Josué y los hijos de Israel.
5 The five kings of the Amorites, the king of Jerusalem, the king of Hebron, the king of Jarmuth, the king of Lachish, and the king of Eglon came up, they and all their armies. They set up their positions against Gibeon, and they attacked it.
Entonces los cinco reyes de los amorreos, el rey de Jerusalén, el rey de Hebrón, el rey de Jarmut, el rey de Laquis y el rey de Eglón, fueron agrupados, y subieron con todos sus ejércitos y acamparon junto Gabaón e hicieron la guerra contra ella.
6 The people of Gibeon sent a message to Joshua and to the army at Gilgal. They said, “Hurry! Do not withdraw your hands from your servants. Come up to us quickly and save us. Help us, for all the kings of the Amorites who live in the hill country have gathered together to attack us.”
Y los hombres de Gabaón enviaron a Josué al círculo de tiendas de campaña en Gilgal, diciendo: No tarden en enviar ayuda a vuestros siervos; Acérquense rápidamente a nuestro apoyo y manténganos seguros: porque todos los reyes de los amorreos de la región montañosa se han unido contra nosotros.
7 Joshua went up from Gilgal, he and all the men of war with him, and all the fighting men.
Entonces Josué subió de Gilgal con todo su ejército y todos sus hombres de guerra.
8 Yahweh said to Joshua, “Do not be afraid of them. I have given them into your hand. Not one of them will be able to stop your attack.”
Y él Señor dijo a Josué: No temas de ellos, porque los he entregado en tus manos; Todos se rendirán ante ti.
9 Joshua came upon them suddenly, having marched all night from Gilgal.
Entonces Josué, habiendo subido de Gilgal toda la noche, los atacó repentinamente.
10 Yahweh confused the enemy before Israel, and Israel killed them with a great slaughter at Gibeon and pursued them on the road going up to Beth Horon, and they killed them on the road to Azekah and Makkedah.
Y el Señor los llenó de temor delante de Israel, y mataron a muchos de ellos en Gabaón, y los siguieron por el camino que subía a Bet-horon, llevándolos de regreso a Azeca y Maceda.
11 As they ran away from Israel, down the hill from Beth Horon, Yahweh threw large stones down from heaven upon them all the way to Azekah, and they died. There were more who died because of the hailstones than who were killed with the sword by the men of Israel.
Y en su huida delante de Israel, en el camino de Bet-horon, el Señor envió sobre ellos grandes piedras de granizo hasta Azeca, causando su muerte: aquellos cuya muerte fue causada por las piedras fueron más que los que los hijos de Israel mataron a espada.
12 Then Joshua spoke to Yahweh on the day Yahweh gave the men of Israel victory over the Amorites. This is what Joshua said to Yahweh before Israel, “Sun, be still at Gibeon, and moon, in the Valley of Aijalon.”
Fue en el día en que el Señor entregó a los amorreos en manos de los hijos de Israel que Josué dijo al Señor, ante los ojos de Israel, al Sol, detente sobre Gabaón; y tú, oh luna, en el valle de Ajalón.
13 The sun stood still, and the moon stopped moving until the nation took vengeance on their enemies. Is this not written in the Book of Jashar? The sun stayed in the middle of the sky; it did not go down for about a whole day.
Y el sol se detuvo y la luna mantuvo su lugar hasta que la nación se vengó de sus atacantes. (¿No está registrado en el libro de Jaser?) Así que el sol mantuvo su lugar en medio de los cielos, y no se movió, y no bajó, por el espacio de un día.
14 There has been no other day like it before or after it, when Yahweh obeyed the voice of a human being. For Yahweh was waging war on behalf of Israel.
Y no hubo un día así, antes o después, cuando el Señor prestó atención a la voz de un hombre; porque el Señor peleaba por Israel.
15 Joshua and all Israel with him returned to the camp at Gilgal.
Y Josué, con todo Israel, volvió al campamento de la tienda en Gilgal.
16 Now the five kings had escaped and hidden themselves in the cave at Makkedah.
Pero estos cinco reyes huyeron en secreto a un agujero en la roca en Maceda.
17 It was told to Joshua, “They have been found!—the five kings hidden in the cave at Makkedah!”
Y se le dijo a Josué que los cinco reyes habían sido hallados en una cueva en Maceda.
18 Joshua said, “Roll large stones against the mouth of the cave and place soldiers there to guard them.
Y Josué dijo: Dejen rodar las grandes piedras contra la boca de la cueva, y pongan guardias para que los vigilen.
19 Do not stay yourselves. Pursue your enemies and attack them from the rear. Do not permit them to enter into their cities, because Yahweh your God has given them into your hand.”
Pero ustedes, sin esperar, vayan tras su ejército, atáquenlos por la retaguardia; no dejen que entren en sus pueblos, porque el Señor su Dios los ha entregado en sus manos.
20 Joshua and the sons of Israel had finished slaughtering them with a very great slaughter, until they were almost completely destroyed; only a few survivors who escaped reached the fortified cities.
Cuando Josué y los hijos de Israel llegaron al final de su guerra de completa destrucción, y mataron a todos menos a una pequeña banda que se había metido a salvo en las ciudades amuralladas,
21 Then the whole army returned in peace to Joshua at the camp at Makkedah. No one dared to say one word against any of the people of Israel.
Todo el pueblo regresó a Josué en el círculo de la tienda de campaña en Maceda en paz: y nadie dijo una palabra contra los hijos de Israel.
22 Then Joshua said, “Open the mouth of the cave and out of the cave bring to me these five kings.”
Entonces Josué dijo: Quiten las piedras de la boca de la cueva, y haz que esos cinco reyes vengan a mí.
23 They did as he said. They brought to him these five kings from the cave—the king of Jerusalem, the king of Hebron, the king of Jarmuth, the king of Lachish, and the king of Eglon.
Y así lo hicieron, e hicieron que esos cinco reyes salieran de la cueva: el rey de Jerusalén, el rey de Hebrón, el rey de Jarmut, el rey de Laquis y el rey de Eglón.
24 When they brought the kings to Joshua, he summoned every man of Israel. He said to the commanders of the soldiers who had gone into battle with him, “Put your feet on their necks.” So they came up and put their feet on their necks.
Y cuando hicieron salir esos reyes a Josué, Josué envió a todos los hombres de Israel y dijo a los jefes de los hombres de guerra que habían ido con él: Acércate y pon tus pies sobre el cuello de estos reyes Entonces ellos se acercaron y pusieron sus pies sobre sus cuellos.
25 Then he said to them, “Do not be afraid and do not be dismayed. Be strong and courageous. This is what Yahweh will do to all your enemies you are going to fight.”
Y Josué les dijo: No temas y no te preocupes; sé fuerte y confiado; porque así hará el Señor a todos contra quienes haces la guerra.
26 Then Joshua attacked and killed the kings. He hung them on five trees. They hung on the trees until evening.
Entonces Josué los hizo matar, colgando de ellos en cinco árboles, donde estaban hasta el atardecer.
27 When it was sunset, Joshua gave orders, and they took them down from the trees and threw them into the cave where they had hidden themselves. They put large stones over the mouth of the cave. Those stones remain there to this very day.
Y cuando el sol se puso, fueron bajados de los árboles, por orden de Josué, y se pusieron en el agujero donde habían ido a estar seguros; y grandes piedras fueron colocadas en la boca del agujero, donde están hasta el día de hoy.
28 In this way, Joshua captured Makkedah on that day and killed everyone there with the sword, including its king. He completely destroyed everyone in it. He left no survivor in it. He did to the king of Makkedah just as he had done to the king of Jericho.
Ese día Josué tomó la ciudad de Maceda, y la destruyó por completo y a su rey; mató a filo de espada a todos los que vivían en ella, e hicieron al rey de Maceda como había hecho al rey de Jericó.
29 Joshua and all Israel passed on from Makkedah to Libnah. He went into battle against Libnah.
Entonces Josué y todo Israel con él salieron de Maceda y vinieron a Libna, e hicieron un ataque contra ella;
30 Yahweh also gave it into the hand of Israel—along with their king. Joshua struck it with the edge of the sword and every person in it. He left no survivor in it. He did to its king just as he had done to the king of Jericho.
Y otra vez el SEÑOR lo dio a él y a su rey en manos de Israel; y él lo puso y cada persona a la espada, hasta que su destrucción fue completa; e hizo a su rey como había hecho al rey de Jericó.
31 Then Joshua and all Israel with him passed on from Libnah to Lachish. He camped by it and waged war against it.
Entonces Josué y todo Israel con él se fueron de Libna a Laquis, y tomaron su posición en contra de ella e hicieron un ataque contra ella.
32 Yahweh gave Lachish into the hand of Israel. Joshua captured it on the second day and struck it with the edge of the sword, and every person in it, just as he had done to Libnah.
Y el Señor entregó a Laquis en manos de Israel, y el segundo día lo tomó y los mataron a filo de espada sin piedad, como había hecho con Libna.
33 Then Horam, king of Gezer, came up to help Lachish. Joshua attacked him and his army until there was not even one survivor left.
Entonces Horam, rey de Gezer, acudió en ayuda de Laquis; y Josué lo venció a él y a su pueblo, matándolos a todos.
34 Then Joshua and all Israel passed on from Lachish to Eglon. They camped by it and waged war against it,
Y Josué y todo Israel con él siguieron de Laquis a Eglón, y tomaron su posición contra ella y la atacaron;
35 and captured it that same day. They struck it with the edge of the sword and they completely destroyed everyone in it, as Joshua had done to Lachish.
Y ese día lo tomaron, poniéndolo junto con cada persona a la espada, como había hecho con Laquis.
36 Then Joshua and all Israel passed on from Eglon to Hebron. They waged war against it.
Y Josué y todo Israel con él subieron de Eglón a Hebrón, e hicieron un ataque contra él;
37 They captured it and struck it with the edge of the sword, and its king and its villages, and everyone in it. They left no survivor it, as they had done to Eglon, they totally destroyed it and every person in it.
Y lo tomó, lo destruyó los mató junto a su rey y sus pueblos y cada persona que llevaba la espada: como había hecho con Eglón, los mató a todos y los entregó a la destrucción con cada persona en ella.
38 Then Joshua turned, and all the army of Israel with him, and they passed on to Debir and waged war against it.
Y Josué y todo Israel con él fueron a atacar a Debir;
39 They captured it, its king and all its nearby villages. They struck them with the edge of the sword and completely destroyed every person in it. They left no survivor. They did to Debir and its king as they had done to Libnah and its king and to Hebron.
Y lo tomó, con su rey y todos sus pueblos; y los puso a la espada, destruyendo cada uno de ellos; todos fueron condenados a muerte: como había hecho con Hebrón, así como con Debir y su rey.
40 Joshua conquered all the land, the hill country, the Negev, the lowlands, and the foothills. Of all their kings he left not one survivor. He completely destroyed every living thing, just as Yahweh, the God of Israel, had commanded.
Entonces Josué venció toda la tierra, las montañas y el sur, las tierras bajas y las laderas de las montañas, y todos sus reyes; todos fueron condenados a muerte, y cada cosa viva que entregó a la destrucción, como el Señor, el Dios de Israel, le había dado órdenes.
41 Joshua struck them from Kadesh Barnea to Gaza, and all the country of Goshen to Gibeon.
Josué los venció desde Cades-barnea hasta Gaza, y toda la tierra de Gosen hasta Gabaón.
42 Joshua captured all these kings and their land at one time because Yahweh, the God of Israel, fought for Israel.
Y todos estos reyes y su tierra tomó Josué al mismo tiempo, porque el Señor, el Dios de Israel, estaba luchando por Israel.
43 Then Joshua, and all Israel with him, returned to the camp at Gilgal.
Entonces Josué y todo Israel con él regresaron a sus campamentos en Gilgal.
