< Job 22 >

1 Then Eliphaz the Temanite answered and said,
Na Temanni Elifas buaa sɛ,
2 “Can a man be useful to God? Can a wise man be useful to him?
“Onyankopɔn bɛnya onipa ho mfasoɔ anaa? Mpo onyansafoɔ ho bɛba no mfasoɔ anaa?
3 Is it any pleasure to the Almighty if you are righteous? Is it gain to him if you make your ways blameless?
Sɛ woyɛ ɔteneneeni a, anigyeɛ bɛn na Otumfoɔ no bɛnya? Sɛ wʼakwan ho nni asɛm a, mfasoɔ bɛn na ɔbɛnya?
4 Is it because of your reverence for him that he rebukes you and takes you to judgment?
“Wo kronnyɛ enti na ɔka wʼanim na ɔbɔ wo kwaadu anaa?
5 Is not your wickedness great? Is there no end to your iniquities?
Ɛnyɛ wʼamumuyɛ na ɛsoɔ? Ɛnyɛ wo bɔne na ɛdɔɔso dodo?
6 For you have demanded guarantee of a loan from your brother for no reason, and you have stripped away clothing from the naked.
Wopɛɛ banbɔ firii wo nuanom nkyɛn a ɛnni nteaseɛ biara; wopaa nnipa ho ntoma ma wɔdaa adagya.
7 You have not given water to weary people to drink; you have withheld bread from hungry people
Woamma abrɛfoɔ nsuo annom na woamfa aduane amma deɛ ɛkɔm de no.
8 although you, a mighty man, possessed the earth, although you, an honored man, lived in it.
Nanso na woyɛ obi a ɔwɔ tumi, na ɔwɔ nsase, onimuonyamfoɔ a ɔte so.
9 You have sent widows away empty; the arms of the fatherless have been broken.
Wopamoo akunafoɔ ma wɔkɔɔ nsapan na womaa nwisiaa nso ahoɔden saeɛ.
10 Therefore, snares are all around you, and sudden fear troubles you.
Ɛno enti na mfidie atwa wo ho ahyia, na amanehunu a ɛba ntɛm so abɔ wo hu yi,
11 There is darkness, so that you cannot see; an abundance of waters covers you.
adɛn enti na esum aduru a wonhunu adeɛ, na asorɔkye akata wo so.
12 Is not God in the heights of heaven? Look at the height of the stars, how high they are!
“Onyankopɔn nni ɔsoro akyirikyiri? Hwɛ sɛdeɛ ɔsoro akyirikyiri nsoromma korɔn!
13 You say, 'What does God know? Can he judge through the thick darkness?
Nanso woka sɛ, ‘Ɛdeɛn na Onyankopɔn nim? Esum yi mu na ɔbu atɛn anaa?
14 Thick clouds are a covering to him, so that he does not see us; he walks on the vault of heaven.'
Omununkum kabii akata nʼanim enti ɔnhunu yɛn ɛberɛ a ɔnenam ɔsoro kɔntɔnkurowi mu.’
15 Will you keep the old way that wicked men have walked—
Wobɛkɔ so afa ɛkwan dada a abɔnefoɔ anante soɔ no so?
16 those who were snatched away before their time, those whose foundations have washed away like a river,
Wɔpraa wɔn kɔɔeɛ ansa na wɔn berɛ reso, na nsuyire hohoroo wɔn fapem.
17 those who said to God, 'Depart from us'; those who said, 'What can the Almighty do to us?'
Na wɔka kyerɛɛ Onyankopɔn sɛ, ‘Gyaa yɛn! Ɛdeɛn na Otumfoɔ bɛtumi ayɛ yɛn?’
18 Yet he filled their houses with good things; the plans of wicked people are far from me.
Nanso, ɛyɛ ɔno na ɔde nnepa hyɛɛ wɔn afie mu, enti metwe me ho mefiri amumuyɛfoɔ afutuo ho.
19 Righteous people see their fate and are glad; innocent people laugh them to scorn.
Teneneefoɔ hunu wɔn asehweɛ ma wɔn ani gye; na wɔn a wɔn ho nni asɛm sere wɔn ka sɛ,
20 They say, 'Surely those who rose up against us are cut off; fire has consumed their possessions.'
‘Wɔasɛe yɛn atamfoɔ, na ogya ahye wɔn agyapadeɛ.’
21 Now agree with God and be at peace with him; in that way, good will come to you.
“Fa wo ho ma Onyankopɔn na nya asomdwoeɛ wɔ ne mu; saa ɛkwan yi so na yiedie bɛyɛ wo kyɛfa.
22 Receive, I beg you, instruction from his mouth; store up his words in your heart.
Tie akwankyerɛ a ɛfiri nʼanom, na fa ne nsɛm sie wʼakoma mu.
23 If you return to the Almighty, you will be built up, if you put unrighteousness far away from your tents.
Sɛ wosane kɔ Otumfoɔ no nkyɛn a, ɔbɛgye wo atom bio: sɛ woyi amumuyɛsɛm firi wo ntomadan mu
24 Lay your treasure down in the dust, the gold of Ophir among the stones of the brooks,
na woto wo sika mpɔ gu mfuturo mu ne Ofir sikakɔkɔɔ gu abotan a ɛwɔ abɔn mu no so a,
25 and the Almighty will be your treasure, precious silver to you.
ɛnneɛ Otumfoɔ bɛyɛ wo sikakɔkɔɔ; ɔbɛyɛ dwetɛ amapa ama wo.
26 For then you will take pleasure in the Almighty; you will lift up your face to God.
Afei nokorɛm wobɛnya anigyeɛ wɔ Otumfoɔ mu na wobɛpagya wʼani akyerɛ Onyankopɔn.
27 You will make your prayer to him, and he will hear you; you will pay your vows to him.
Wobɛbɔ no mpaeɛ, na ɔbɛtie wo, na wobɛdi wo bɔhyɛ so.
28 You will also decree anything, and it will be confirmed for you; light will shine on your paths.
Deɛ woyɛ wʼadwene sɛ wobɛyɛ no bɛba mu, na hann bɛtɔ wʼakwan so.
29 God humbles a proud man, and he saves the one with lowered eyes.
Sɛ nnipa hwe ase na woka sɛ, ‘Ma wɔn so!’ a, ɔbɛgye wɔn a wɔahwe ase no nkwa.
30 He will rescue even the man who is not innocent; who will be rescued through the cleanness of your hands.”
Ɔbɛgye abɔnefoɔ mpo, ɔnam wo nsa a ɛho nni fi so bɛgye wɔn.”
