< Job 21 >

1 Then Job answered and said,
To naah Job mah,
2 “Listen carefully to my words, and let this be the comfort you offer to me.
ka lok hae kahoih ah tahngai ah; nang pathloephaih lok loe hae tiah om nasoe.
3 Put up with me, and I also will speak; after I have spoken, mock on.
Tahngai ah, lok ka thuih han vop; koeh boeh loe ka thuih pacoengah, na pahnui thui ah.
4 As for me, is my complaint to a person? Why should I not be impatient?
Kai loe kami maw laisaep thuih? To tiah om nahaeloe, palung duem ai ah om tih maw?
5 Look at me and be astonished, and lay your hand upon your mouth.
Kai hae na khen ah loe, dawnrai ah; pakha to ban hoi tamuep ah.
6 When I think about my sufferings, I am terrified, and trembling seizes my body.
Hae kawng hae ka poek naah ka zit moe; ka takpum boih tasoeh.
7 Why do wicked people continue to live, become old, and grow mighty in power?
Tipongah kasae kaminawk loe hinglung sawk o, mitong khoek to ngantui o moe, angraeng o pacoengah, thacak o loe?
8 Their descendants are established with them in their sight, and their offspring are established before their eyes.
Anih ih caanawk loe angmah taengah khosak o moe, angmah ih acaengnawk doeh a mikhnuk ah qoeng o tahang.
9 Their houses are safe from fear; neither is the rod of God on them.
A imnawk doeh misa zithaih om ai, Sithaw danpaekhaih thingboeng doeh nihcae nuiah krah ai.
10 Their bull breeds; it does not fail to do so; their cow gives birth and does not lose her calf prematurely.
Nihcae ih maitaw tae loe apet ai ah apaa cuk o moe, kapomh maitaw doeh acaa zuun vai ai.
11 They send out their little ones like a flock, and their children dance.
Nihcae ih caanawk loe tuu baktiah caeh o moe, hnawh o.
12 They sing to the tambourine and harp and rejoice with the music of the flute.
Cingceng to boh o, katoeng kruek hoiah laa a sak o moe, tamoi lok hoiah anghoe o.
13 They spend their days in prosperity, and they go down quietly to Sheol. (Sheol h7585)
Nihcae loe taprong ah laem o ai karoek to, hmuenmae angraenghaih hoiah khosak o. (Sheol h7585)
14 They say to God, 'Depart from us for we do not wish any knowledge of your ways.
Nihcae loe Sithaw khaeah, Na caeh taak ah, Na loklam panoek han ka koeh o ai.
15 What is the Almighty, that we should worship him? What advantage would we get if we prayed to him?'
Thacak Sithaw loe kawbangmaw oh moe, a tok ka sak pae o han loe? Anih khaeah lawk ka thuih o nahaeloe, tih atho maw om tih, tiah a thuih o.
16 See, is not their prosperity in their own hands? I have nothing to do with the advice of wicked people.
Khenah, nihcae angraenghaih loe angmacae ban ah om poe ai; kazae kaminawk ih poekhaih to angqoi taak boeh.
17 How often is it that the lamp of wicked people is put out, or that their calamity comes upon them? How often does it happen that God distributes sorrows to them in his anger?
Sithaw mah kasae kaminawk ih hmaithaw to paduek pae, anih palungphui pongah nihcae to amrosak moe, nihcae nuiah vai nazetto maw raihaih to phaksak?
18 How often is it that they become like stubble before the wind or like chaff that the storm carries away?
Nihcae loe takhi mah hmuh ih anghnoeng baktiah oh o moe, takhi sae mah hmuh ih tavai baktiah ni oh o.
19 You say, 'God lays up one's guilt for his children to pay.' Let him pay it himself, so that he might know his guilt.
Nangcae mah loe, zaehaih sah kaminawk zuengah a caanawk to Sithaw mah danpaek tih, tiah na thuih o; toe kaimah loe a sak pazaehaih panoek thai hanah, Sithaw mah zaehaih sah kami angmah roe to danpaek nasoe, tiah ka thuih.
20 Let his eyes see his own destruction, and let him drink of the wrath of the Almighty.
Angmah amrohaih to a mik hoi roe hnu nasoe loe, Thacak Sithaw palungphuihaih to nae nasoe.
21 For what does he care about his family after him when the number of his months is cut off?
Anih han paek ih ani hoi akhrah akoep naah loe, anih mah a caeh taak ih a caanawk hanah timaw sah pae thai tih?
22 Can anyone teach God knowledge since he judges even those who are high?
Mi mah maw hmuensang ah kaom kaminawk lokcaekkung Sithaw to patuk thai tih?
23 One man dies in his full strength, being completely quiet and at ease.
Kami maeto loe tha oh li, misa monghaih hoiah khosak moe, nawm li nathuem,
24 His body is full of milk, and the marrow of his bones is moist.
A takpum kahoih ah qoeng tahang li moe, ahuhnawk tangkhring hoiah koi li nathuem ah duek ving.
25 Another man dies in bitterness of soul, one who has never experienced anything good.
Kalah kami maeto bae loe khosak nawmhaih tong vai ai, a hinghaih patangkhang pongah duek.
26 They lie down alike in the dust; the worms cover them both.
Nihnik loe maiphu thungah angsong hoi moe, sadong mah khuk khoep boeh.
27 See, I know your thoughts, and the ways in which you wish to wrong me.
Khenah, ka nuiah sak han na pacaeng ih kahoih ai hmuen to ka panoek.
28 For you say, 'Where now is the house of the prince? Where is the tent in which the wicked man once lived?'
Nang mah, angraeng ih im naa ah maw oh, kasae kaminawk ih im naa ah maw oh? tiah na thuih.
29 Have you never asked traveling people? Do you not know the evidence they can tell,
Kholong caeh kaminawk to lok na dueng o vai ai maw? A sak o ih angmathaih to na panoek o ai maw?
30 that the wicked man is kept from the day of calamity, and that he is led away from the day of wrath?
Kahoih ai kami loe amrohaih ani hanah pahoe boeh, palungphuihaih ani hanah suek boeh pongah, anih loe vaihi loih tih boeh, tiah na poek o ai maw?
31 Who will condemn the wicked man's way to his face? Who will repay him for what he has done?
A sak ih kahoih ai hmuen to mi mah maw taphong pae tih? A sak ih zaehaih baktih toengah mi mah maw pathok tih?
32 Yet he will be borne to the grave; men will keep watch over his tomb.
Toe anih loe taprong ah phak naah doeh, tangprong toepkung to suem pae o tih.
33 The clods of the valley will be sweet to him; all people will follow after him, as there were innumerable people before him.
Azawn ih long loe anih hanah luep, kami boih anih hnukah patom o ueloe, anih hmaa ah kroek laek ai kaminawk caeh o tih.
34 How then do you comfort me with nonsense, since in your answers there is nothing but falsehood?”
To tiah nahaeloe tih han ih azom pui ah kaom lok hoiah nang pathloep o loe? Nang pathimhaih lok ah tangtang to om ai, amsawnlok cing ni oh, tiah a naa.
