Job 20
1 Then Zophar the Naamathite answered and said,
E Zofar, o naamita, respondeu, dizendo:
2 “My thoughts make me answer quickly because of the worry that is in me.
Por isso meus meus pensamentos me fazem responder; por causa da agitação dentro de mim.
3 I hear a rebuke that dishonors me, but a spirit from my understanding answers me.
Eu ouvi a repreensão que me envergonha; mas o espírito desde o meu entendimento responderá por mim.
4 Do you not know this fact from ancient times, when God placed man on earth:
Por acaso não sabes isto, [que foi] desde a antiguidade, desde que o ser humano foi posto no mundo?
5 the triumph of a wicked man is short, and the joy of a godless man lasts only for a moment?
Que o júbilo dos perversos é breve, e a alegria do hipócrita [dura apenas] um momento?
6 Though his height reaches up to the heavens, and his head reaches to the clouds,
Ainda que sua altura subisse até o céu, e sua cabeça chegasse até as nuvens,
7 yet such a person will perish permanently like his own feces; those who have seen him will say, 'Where is he?'
[Mesmo assim] com o seu excremento perecerá para sempre; os que houverem o visto, dirão: Onde ele está?
8 He will fly away like a dream and will not be found; indeed, he will be chased away like a vision of the night.
Como um sonho voará, e não será achado; e será afugentado como a visão noturna.
9 The eye that saw him will see him no more; his place will see him no longer.
O olho que já o viu nunca mais o verá; nem seu lugar olhará mais para ele.
10 His children will apologize to poor people; his hands will have to give back his wealth.
Seus filhos procurarão o favor dos pobres; e suas mãos devolverão a sua riqueza.
11 His bones are full of youthful strength, but it will lie down with him in the dust.
Seus ossos estão cheios de sua juventude, que juntamente com ele se deitará no pó.
12 Although wickedness is sweet in his mouth, although he hides it under his tongue,
Se o mal é doce em sua boca, e o esconde debaixo de sua língua;
13 although he holds it there and does not let it go but keeps it still in his mouth—
Se o guarda para si, e não o abandona; ao contrário, o retém em sua boca.
14 the food in his intestines turns bitter; it becomes the poison of asps inside him.
Sua comida se mudará em suas entranhas, veneno de cobras será em seu interior.
15 He swallows down riches, but he will vomit them up again; God will cast them out of his stomach.
Engoliu riquezas, porém as vomitará; Deus as tirará de seu ventre.
16 He will suck the poison of asps; the viper's tongue will kill him.
Veneno de cobras subará; língua de víbora o matará.
17 He will not enjoy the streams, the torrents of honey and butter.
Não verá correntes, rios, [e] ribeiros de mel e de manteiga.
18 He will give back the fruit of his labor and will not be able to eat it; he will not enjoy the wealth earned by his commerce.
Restituirá o trabalho e não o engolirá; da riqueza de seu comério não desfrutará.
19 For he has oppressed and neglected poor people; he has violently taken away houses that he did not build.
Pois oprimiu [e] desamparou aos pobres; roubou a casa que não edificou;
20 Because he has known no satisfaction himself, he will not be able to save anything in which he takes pleasure.
Por não ter sentido sossego em seu ventre, nada preservará de sua tão desejada riqueza.
21 There is nothing left that he did not devour; therefore his prosperity will not be permanent.
Nada [lhe] restou para que devorasse; por isso sua riqueza não será duradoura.
22 In the abundance of his wealth he will fall into trouble; the hand of everyone who is in poverty will come against him.
Estando cheio de sua fartura, [ainda] estará angustiado; todo o poder da miséria virá sobre ele.
23 When he is about to fill his stomach, God will throw the fierceness of his wrath on him; God will rain it down on him while he is eating.
Quando ele estiver enchendo seu vendre, Deus mandará sobre ele o ardor de sua ira, e [a] choverá sobre ele em sua comida.
24 Although that man will flee from the iron weapon, a bow of bronze will shoot him.
[Ainda que] fuja das armas de ferro, o arco de bronze o atravessará.
25 He pulls it out of his back and the gleaming point comes out of his liver. Terrors come over him.
Ele a tirará de [seu] corpo, e a ponta brilhante atingirá seu fígado; haverá sobre ele assombros.
26 Complete darkness is reserved for his treasures; a fire not fanned will devour him; it will consume what is left in his tent.
Todas as trevas estão reservadas para seus tesouros escondidos; um fogo não assoprado o consumirá; acabará com o que restar em sua tenda.
27 The heavens will reveal his iniquity, and the earth will rise up against him as a witness.
Os céus revelarão sua maldade, e a terra se levantará contra ele.
28 The wealth of his house will vanish; his goods will flow away on the day of God's wrath.
As riquezas de sua casa serão transportadas; nos dias de sua ira elas se derramarão.
29 This is the wicked man's portion from God, the heritage reserved for him by God.”
Esta é a parte que Deus dá ao homem perverso, a herança que Deus lhe prepara.
