Job 12
1 Then Job answered and said,
Y respondió Job, y dijo:
2 “No doubt you are the people; wisdom will die with you.
Ciertamente que vosotros sois el pueblo; y con vosotros morirá la sabiduría.
3 But I have understanding as well as you; I am not inferior to you. Indeed, who does not know such things as these?
También tengo yo seso como vosotros; no soy yo menos que vosotros; ¿y quién habrá que no pueda decir otro tanto?
4 I am something for my neighbor to laugh at— I, one who called on God and who was answered by him! I, a just and blameless man—I am now something to laugh at.
El que invoca a Dios, y él le responde, es burlado de su amigo; y el justo y perfecto es escarnecido.
5 In the thought of someone who is at ease, there is contempt for misfortune; he thinks in a way that brings more misfortune to those whose foot is slipping.
La antorcha es tenida en poco en el pensamiento del próspero; la cual se aparejó contra las caídas de los pies.
6 The tents of robbers prosper, and those who provoke God feel secure; their own hands are their gods.
Las tiendas de los ladrones están en paz; y los que provocan a Dios, y los que traen dioses en sus manos viven seguros.
7 But now ask the beasts, and they will teach you; ask the birds of the heavens, and they will tell you.
Y en efecto, pregunta ahora a las bestias, que ellas te enseñarán; y a las aves de los cielos, que ellas te lo mostrarán;
8 Or speak to the earth, and it will teach you; the fish of the sea will declare to you.
o habla a la tierra, que ella te enseñará; los peces del mar te lo declararán también.
9 Which animal among all these does not know that the hand of Yahweh has done this?
¿Qué cosa de todas éstas no entiende que la mano del SEÑOR la hizo?
10 In his hand is the life of every living thing and the breath of all mankind.
En su mano está el alma de todo viviente, y el espíritu de toda carne humana.
11 Does not the ear test words just as the palate tastes its food?
Ciertamente el oído prueba las palabras, y el paladar gusta las viandas.
12 With aged men is wisdom; in length of days is understanding.
En los viejos está la ciencia, y en la larga edad la inteligencia.
13 With God are wisdom and might; he has counsel and understanding.
Con Dios está la sabiduría y la fortaleza; suyo es el consejo y la inteligencia.
14 See, he breaks down, and it cannot be built again; if he imprisons someone, there can be no release.
He aquí, él derribará, y no será edificado; encerrará al hombre, y no habrá quien le abra.
15 See, if he withholds the waters, they dry up; and if he sends them out, they overwhelm the land.
He aquí, él detendrá las aguas, y se secarán; él las enviará, y destruirán la tierra.
16 With him are strength and wisdom; people who are deceived and the deceiver are both in his power.
Con él está la fortaleza y la existencia; suyo es el que yerra, y el que hace errar.
17 He leads counselors away barefoot in sorrow; he turns judges into fools.
El hace andar a los consejeros desnudos de consejo, y hace enloquecer a los jueces.
18 He takes off the chain of authority from kings; he wraps a cloth about their waists.
El suelta la atadura de los tiranos, y les ata el cinto a sus lomos.
19 He leads priests away barefoot in sorrow and overthrows mighty people.
El lleva despojados a los príncipes, y trastorna a los valientes.
20 He removes the speech of those who had been trusted and takes away the understanding of the elders.
El impide el labio a los que dicen verdad, y quita a los ancianos el consejo.
21 He pours contempt upon princes and unfastens the belt of strong people.
El derrama menosprecio sobre los príncipes, y enflaquece la fuerza de los esforzados.
22 He reveals the deep things of darkness and brings deep shadows into the light.
El descubre las profundidades de las tinieblas, y saca a luz la sombra de muerte.
23 He makes nations strong, and he also destroys them; He enlarges nations, and he also leads them along as prisoners.
El multiplica los gentiles, y él las destruye; esparce los gentiles, y las torna a recoger.
24 He takes away understanding from the leaders of the people of the earth; he causes them to wander in a wilderness where there is no path.
El quita el seso de las cabezas del pueblo de la tierra, y les hace que se pierdan vagando sin camino;
25 They grope in the dark without light; he makes them stagger like a drunk man.
que palpen las tinieblas, y no la luz; y los hace errar como borrachos.
