Job 12
1 Then Job answered and said,
Da antwortete Hiob und sprach:
2 “No doubt you are the people; wisdom will die with you.
Ja, ihr seid die Leute; mit euch wird die Weisheit sterben!
3 But I have understanding as well as you; I am not inferior to you. Indeed, who does not know such things as these?
Ich habe so wohl ein Herz als ihr und bin nicht geringer denn ihr; und wer ist, der solches nicht wisse?
4 I am something for my neighbor to laugh at— I, one who called on God and who was answered by him! I, a just and blameless man—I am now something to laugh at.
Wer von seinem Nächsten verlachet wird, der wird Gott anrufen, der wird ihn erhören. Der Gerechte und Fromme muß verlachet sein
5 In the thought of someone who is at ease, there is contempt for misfortune; he thinks in a way that brings more misfortune to those whose foot is slipping.
und ist ein verachtet Lichtlein vor den Gedanken der Stolzen, stehet aber, daß sie sich dran ärgern.
6 The tents of robbers prosper, and those who provoke God feel secure; their own hands are their gods.
Der Verstörer Hütten haben die Fülle und toben wider Gott türstiglich, wiewohl es ihnen Gott in ihre Hände gegeben hat.
7 But now ask the beasts, and they will teach you; ask the birds of the heavens, and they will tell you.
Frage doch das Vieh, das wird dich's lehren, und die Vögel unter dem Himmel, die werden dir's sagen.
8 Or speak to the earth, and it will teach you; the fish of the sea will declare to you.
Oder rede mit der Erde, die wird dich's lehren, und die Fische im Meer werden dir's erzählen.
9 Which animal among all these does not know that the hand of Yahweh has done this?
Wer weiß solches alles nicht, daß des HERRN Hand das gemacht hat,
10 In his hand is the life of every living thing and the breath of all mankind.
daß in seiner Hand ist die Seele alles des, das da lebet, und der Geist alles Fleisches eines jeglichen?
11 Does not the ear test words just as the palate tastes its food?
Prüfet nicht das Ohr die Rede; und der Mund schmecket die Speise?
12 With aged men is wisdom; in length of days is understanding.
Ja, bei den Großvätern ist die Weisheit und der Verstand bei den Alten.
13 With God are wisdom and might; he has counsel and understanding.
Bei ihm ist Weisheit und Gewalt, Rat und Verstand.
14 See, he breaks down, and it cannot be built again; if he imprisons someone, there can be no release.
Siehe, wenn er zerbricht, so hilft kein Bauen; wenn er jemand verschleußt, kann niemand aufmachen.
15 See, if he withholds the waters, they dry up; and if he sends them out, they overwhelm the land.
Siehe, wenn er das Wasser verschleußt, so wird's alles dürre; und wenn s ausläßt, so kehret es das Land um.
16 With him are strength and wisdom; people who are deceived and the deceiver are both in his power.
Er ist stark und führet es aus. Sein ist, der da irret, und der da verführet.
17 He leads counselors away barefoot in sorrow; he turns judges into fools.
Er führet die Klugen wie einen Raub und machet die Richter toll.
18 He takes off the chain of authority from kings; he wraps a cloth about their waists.
Er löset auf der Könige Zwang und gürtet mit einem Gürtel ihre Lenden.
19 He leads priests away barefoot in sorrow and overthrows mighty people.
Er führet die Priester wie einen Raub und lässet es fehlen den Festen.
20 He removes the speech of those who had been trusted and takes away the understanding of the elders.
Er wendet weg die Lippen der Wahrhaftigen und nimmt weg die Sitten der Alten.
21 He pours contempt upon princes and unfastens the belt of strong people.
Er schüttet Verachtung auf die Fürsten und macht den Bund der Gewaltigen los.
22 He reveals the deep things of darkness and brings deep shadows into the light.
Er öffnet die finstern Gründe und bringet heraus das Dunkel an das Licht.
23 He makes nations strong, and he also destroys them; He enlarges nations, and he also leads them along as prisoners.
Er macht etliche zum großen Volk und bringet sie wieder um. Er breitet ein Volk aus und treibet es wieder weg.
24 He takes away understanding from the leaders of the people of the earth; he causes them to wander in a wilderness where there is no path.
Er nimmt weg den Mut der Obersten des Volks im Lande und macht sie irre auf einem Umwege, da kein Weg ist,
25 They grope in the dark without light; he makes them stagger like a drunk man.
daß sie in der Finsternis tappen ohne Licht; und macht sie irre wie die Trunkenen.
