Jeremiah 7
1 The word that came to Jeremiah from Yahweh, saying,
Palavra que veio do SENHOR a Jeremias, dizendo:
2 “Stand at the gate of Yahweh's house and proclaim this word! Say, 'Hear the word of Yahweh, all you of Judah, you who enter these gates to worship Yahweh.
Põe-te à porta da casa do SENHOR, e clama ali esta palavra, e dize: Ouvi palavra do SENHOR, toda Judá, vós que entrais por estas portas para adorar ao SENHOR!
3 Yahweh of hosts, God of Israel, says this: Make your ways and practices good, and I will let you continue to live in this place.
Assim diz o SENHOR dos exércitos, Deus de Israel: Melhorai vossos caminhos e vossos atos, e eu vos farei habitar neste lugar.
4 Do not entrust yourself to deceitful words and say, “Temple of Yahweh! Temple of Yahweh! Temple of Yahweh!”
Não confieis em palavras falsas, que dizem: Templo do SENHOR! Templo do SENHOR! Este é o templo do SENHOR!
5 For if you actually make your ways and practices good; if you completely execute justice between a man and his neighbor—
Mas se verdadeiramente melhorardes vossos caminhos e vossas obras; se verdadeiramente fizerdes justiça entre o homem e seu próximo;
6 if you do not exploit the one staying in the land, the orphan, or the widow and do not pour out innocent blood in this place, and do not walk after other gods to your own harm—
E não oprimirdes ao estrangeiro que peregrina entre vós, ao órfão, e à viúva, nem derramardes sangue inocente neste lugar, nem seguirdes deuses estrangeiros para vosso mal;
7 then I will let you stay in this place, in the land that I gave to your ancestors from ancient times and forever.
Eu vos farei morar neste lugar, na terra que dei a vossos pais desde os tempos antigos para sempre.
8 Behold! You are trusting in deceitful words that do not help you.
Eis que vós os confiais em palavras falsas, que não têm proveito algum.
9 Do you steal, kill, and commit adultery? Do you swear deceitfully and offer incense to Baal and walk after other gods whom you have not known?
Por acaso furtareis, matareis, e adulterareis, e jurareis falsamente, e queimareis incenso a Baal, e andareis atrás de deuses estrangeiros, a quem não conheceis,
10 Then do you come and stand before me in this house that is called by my name and say, “We are saved,” so you can do all of these abominations?
E [então] vireis e vos poreis perante mim nesta casa, que se chama pelo meu nome, e direis: Libertos somos, para fazer todas estas abominações?
11 Is this house, which carries my name, a den of bandits in your eyes? But behold, I have seen it—this is Yahweh's declaration.'
Por acaso esta casa, que se chama pelo meu nome, é uma caverna de assaltantes perante vossos olhos? Eis que também vi [isso], diz o SENHOR.
12 'So go to my place that was in Shiloh, where I allowed my name to stay there in the beginning, and look at what I did to it because of the wickedness of my people Israel.
Porém ide agora a meu lugar, que era em Siló, onde fiz habitar meu nome no princípio; e vede o que lhe fiz pela maldade do meu povo Israel.
13 So now, on account of your doing all of these practices—this is Yahweh's declaration—I spoke to you time and time again, but you did not listen. I summoned you, but you did not answer.
Portanto agora, visto que vós tendes feito todas estas obras, diz o SENHOR, e vos falei, insistindo em falar, mas não ouvistes, e eu os chamei, mas não respondestes;
14 Therefore, what I did to Shiloh, I will also do to this house that is called by my name, the house in which you have trusted, this place that I gave to you and your ancestors.
Farei também a esta casa, que se chama pelo meu nome, em que vós confiais, e a este lugar que dei a vós e a vossos pais, tal como fiz a Siló:
15 For I will send you out from before me just as I had sent out all your brothers, all the descendants of Ephraim.'
E eu vos lançarei fora de minha presença, tal como lancei a todos os vossos irmãos, toda a geração de Efraim.
16 As for you, Jeremiah, do not pray for this people, and do not lift up a lamenting wail or say a prayer on their behalf, and do not petition me, for I will not listen to you.
Por isso não ores tu por este povo, nem levantes por eles clamor nem oração, nem rogues a mim, pois eu não te ouvirei.
17 Do you not see what they are doing in the cities of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem?
Não vês o que eles costumam fazer nas cidades de Judá e nas ruas de Jerusalém?
18 The children are gathering wood and the fathers kindling the fire! The women are kneading dough to make cakes for the queen of the heavens and pour out drink offerings for other gods so that they will provoke me.
Os filhos coletam a lenha, e os pais acendem o fogo, e as mulheres amassam a massa, para fazerem bolos à rainha dos céus e dedicarem ofertas de bebidas a deuses estrangeiros, para me provocarem à ira.
19 Are they truly provoking me?—this is Yahweh's declaration—is it not themselves whom they are provoking, so that shame is on them?
Por acaso eles me provocam à ira? diz o SENHOR, eles não [acabam provocando mais] a si mesmos, para vergonha de seus próprios rostos?
20 Therefore the Lord Yahweh says this, 'See, my anger and wrath will gush out onto this place, on both man and beast, on the tree in the fields and the fruit on the ground. It will burn and never be extinguished.'
Por isso assim diz o Senhor DEUS: Eis que que minha ira e meu furor serão derramados sobre este lugar: sobre os homens, sobre os animais, sobre as árvores do campo, e sobre os frutos da terra; e se acenderá, e não se apagará.
21 Yahweh of hosts, God of Israel says this, 'Add your burnt offerings to your sacrifices and the meat from them.
Assim diz o SENHOR dos exércitos, Deus de Israel: Acrescentai os vossos holocaustos aos vossos sacrifícios, e comei carne.
22 For when I brought your ancestors out from the land of Egypt, I did not require anything from them. I gave them no command about matters of burnt offerings and sacrifices.
Pois não falei a vossos pais, nem lhes mandei, no dia em que os tirei da terra do Egito, coisa alguma sobre holocaustos ou sacrifícios;
23 I only gave them this command, “Listen to my voice, and I will be your God and you will be my people. So walk in all the ways that I am commanding you, so that it may go well with you.”
porém isto lhes mandei, dizendo: Escutai a minha voz, e eu serei vosso Deus, e vós sereis meu povo; e andai em todo o caminho que eu vos mandar, para que o bem vos aconteça.
24 But they did not listen or pay attention. They lived by their own stubborn plans of their wicked hearts, so they went backwards, not forward.
Mas eles não ouviram, nem inclinaram seus ouvidos; ao invés disso, caminharam em [seus próprios] conselhos, na teimosia de seu coração maligno, e foram para trás, e não para frente.
25 Ever since the day when your ancestors went out from the land of Egypt until this day, I have sent every one of my servants, my prophets, to you. I persisted in sending them.
Desde o dia em que vossos pais saíram da terra do Egito até hoje, eu vos enviei a todos os meus servos os profetas, e enviando-os dia após dia.
26 But they did not listen to me. They paid no attention. Instead, they hardened their necks. They were more wicked than their ancestors.'
Mas eles não me ouviram, nem inclinaram seu ouvidos; ao invés disso, teimaram ainda mais, e fizeram pior que seus pais.
27 So proclaim all these words to them, but they will not listen to you. Proclaim these things to them, but they will not answer you.
Por isso tu lhes dirás todas estas palavras, mas eles não te ouvirão; e tu os chamarás, mas eles não te responderão.
28 Say to them: This is a nation that does not listen to the voice of Yahweh its God and does not receive discipline. Truth is destroyed and cut off from their mouths.
Então tu lhes dirás: Esta é a nação que não escutou a voz do SENHOR seu Deus, nem aceitou correção; a verdade pereceu, e foi cortada de suas bocas.
29 Cut off your hair and shave yourself, and throw away your hair. Sing a funeral song over the open places. For Yahweh has rejected and abandoned this generation in his rage.
Tosquia o teu cabelo, e lança-o fora, e levanta pranto sobre os lugares altos; porque o SENHOR tem rejeitado e abandonado a nação que causou sua ira.
30 For the sons of Judah have done evil in my eye—this is Yahweh's declaration—they have set their detestable things in the house that is called by my name, in order to defile it.
Porque os filhos de Judá fizeram o mal perante meus olhos, diz o SENHOR; puseram suas abominações na casa que se chama pelo meu nome, para contaminá-la.
31 Then they built the high place of Topheth that is in the Valley of Ben Hinnom. They did this to burn their sons and daughters in fire—something that I did not command, nor did it enter my mind.
E edificaram os altos de Tofete, que ficam no vale do filho de Hinom, para queimarem no fogo seus filhos e suas filhas, o que eu nunca mandei, nem pensei em meu coração.
32 So see, days are coming—this is Yahweh's declaration—when it will no longer be called Topheth or Valley of Ben Hinnom. It will be the Valley of Slaughter; they will bury bodies in Topheth until there is no room left.
Por isso eis que virão dias, diz o SENHOR, que não se dirá mais Tofete, nem Vale do filho de Hinom, mas sim Vale da Matança; e serão enterrados em Tofete, por não haver lugar.
33 The corpses of this people will be food for the birds of the skies and the beasts of the earth, and there will be no one to frighten them away.
E os cadáveres deste povo serão para comida das aves dos céus e dos animais da terra; e ninguém os espantará.
34 I will put an end to the cities of Judah and the streets of Jerusalem, the sound of joy and the sound of gladness, the sound of the groom and the sound of the bride, for the land will become a desolation.”
E farei cessar das cidades de Judá e da ruas de Jerusalém a voz de júbilo e voz de alegria, voz de noivo e voz de noiva; porque a terra se tornará desolação.
