Jeremiah 43
1 It happened that Jeremiah finished proclaiming to all the people all the words of Yahweh their God that Yahweh their God had told him to say.
Erga Ermiyaas dubbii Waaqayyo Waaqa isaanii kan Waaqayyo akka inni nama hundatti himuuf isa erge sana dubbatee fixee booddee,
2 Azariah son of Hoshaiah, Johanan son of Kareah, and all the arrogant men said to Jeremiah, “You are telling lies. Yahweh our God has not sent you to say, 'Do not go to Egypt to live there.'
Azaariyaa ilmi Hooshaʼiyaa, Yoohaanaan ilmi Qaareyaatii fi namoonni of tuulan hundi Ermiyaasiin akkana jedhan; “Ati ni sobda! Waaqayyo Waaqni keenya akka ati, ‘Isin achi jiraachuuf jettanii biyya Gibxi dhaquu hin qabdan’ jettuuf si hin ergine.
3 For Baruch son of Neriah is inciting you against us to deliver us into the hand of the Chaldeans, for you to cause our death and to make us captives in Babylon.”
Baaruk ilmi Neeriyaa garuu akka ati akka isaan nu fixaniif yookaan boojiʼanii Baabilonitti nu geessaniif dabarsitee harka Baabilonotaatti nu kennituuf si kakaasaa jira.”
4 So Johanan son of Kareah, all the princes of the army, and all the people refused to listen to Yahweh's voice to live in the land of Judah.
Kanaafuu Yoohaanaan ilmi Qaareyaatii fi ajajjoonni waraanaa hundii fi sabni hundi ajaja Waaqayyo akka isaan biyya Yihuudaa turaniif kenneef sana didan.
5 Johanan son of Kareah and all the army commanders took away all the remnant of Judah who had returned from all the nations where they had been scattered to live in the land of Judah.
Qooda kanaa Yoohaanaan ilmi Qaareyaatii fi ajajjoonni waraanaa hundi hambaa Yihuudaa kanneen biyyoota itti bibittinneeffaman hunda keessaa deebiʼanii biyya Yihuudaa keessa jiraachuuf dhufan hunda fudhatanii deeman.
6 They took the men and women, the children and the king's daughters, and every person whom Nebuzaradan, the commander of the king's bodyguards, had let remain with Gedaliah son of Ahikam son of Shaphan. They also took Jeremiah the prophet and Baruch son of Neriah.
Akkasumas dhiiraa dubartii, ijoollee fi intallan mootii kanneen Nebuzaradaan ajajaan eegumsaa sun Gedaaliyaas ilma Ahiiqaam, ilma Shaafaan, Ermiyaas raajichaa fi Baaruk ilma Neeriyaa biratti dhiise sana hunda fudhatanii deeman.
7 They went to the land of Egypt, to Tahpanhes, because they did not listen to Yahweh's voice.
Isaanis akkasiin Waaqayyoof ajajamuu diduudhaan biyya Gibxitti galanii hamma Tahiphaanhees keessa lixan.
8 So the word of Yahweh came to Jeremiah in Tahpanhes, saying,
Tahiphaanheesittis dubbiin Waaqayyoo akkana jedhee gara Ermiyaas dhufe:
9 “Take some large stones in your hand, and, in the sight of the people of Judah, hide them in the mortar in the pavement at the entrance to Pharaoh's house in Tahpanhes.”
“Dhagaa gurguddaa guuriitii balbala masaraa Faraʼoon kan Tahiphaanhees jiru sanaa biratti utuma Yihuudoonni ilaalanuu afaa suphee keessatti awwaali.
10 Then say to them, “Yahweh of hosts, God of Israel, says this, 'See, I am about to send messengers to take Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon as my servant. I will place his throne over these stones that you, Jeremiah, have buried. Nebuchadnezzar will place his pavilion over them.
Ergasii akkana isaaniin jedhi; ‘Waaqayyo Waan Hunda Dandaʼu, Waaqni Israaʼel akkana jedha: Ani tajaajilaa koo Nebukadnezar mooticha Baabilonitti nama ergee nan waama; teessoo isaa illee dhagaa asitti awwaale kana irra nan dhaaba; innis dunkaana mootummaa ofii isaa isa irratti ni diriirfata.
11 For he will come and attack the land of Egypt. Anyone who is assigned to death will be given to death. Anyone who is assigned to captivity will be taken captive. Anyone who is assigned to the sword will be given to the sword.
Inni dhufee Gibxin ni lola; warra duʼaaf ramadamanitti duʼa, warra boojuuf ramadamanitti boojuu, warra goraadeef ramadamanitti goraadee ni fida.
12 Then I will light a fire in the temples of Egypt's gods. Nebuchadnezzar will burn them or capture them. He will clean out the land of Egypt just as shepherds clean vermin off their clothes. He will go out from that place in victory.
Inni manneen waaqeffannaa waaqota Gibxitti ibidda qabsiisa; manneen waaqeffannaa isaanii gubee waaqota isaanii tolfamoo illee boojiʼa. Akkuma Tikeen tokko wayyaa marxifattu sana innis biyya Gibxi marxifatee nagumaanis achii deema.
13 He will break the stone pillars at Heliopolis in the land of Egypt. He will burn the temples of Egypt's gods.'”
Inni achuma galma waaqeffannaa aduu biyya Gibxi keessatti utuboota waaqeffannaa caccabsee galma waaqeffannaa waaqota Gibxii illee ni guba.’”
