< Jeremiah 42 >
1 Then all the army commanders and Johanan son of Kareah, Jezaniah son of Hoshaiah, and all the people from the least to the greatest approached Jeremiah the prophet.
Na mwet kol nukewa lun un mwet mweun, welulang Johanan wen natul Kareah, ac Azariah wen natul Hoshaiah, wi mwet nukewa, sin mwet pusisel nwe ke mwet fulat, elos tuku
2 They said to him, “Let our pleas come before you. Pray for us to Yahweh your God for these people who remain since we are so few in number, as you see.
ac fahk nu sik, “Nunak munas, oru ma kut ac siyuk sum uh! Pre nu sin LEUM GOD lasr kacsr. Pre kacsr nukewa su painmoulla. Meet kut arulana pus suna, a inge kut mwet ekasrna lula, oana ke kom liye.
3 Ask Yahweh your God to tell us the way we should go and what we should do.”
Pre tuh LEUM GOD lasr fah akkalemye nu sesr inkanek ma fal kut in fahsr we, ac ma fal kut in oru.”
4 So Jeremiah the prophet said to them, “I have heard you. Look, I will pray to Yahweh your God as you have requested. Whatever Yahweh answers, I will tell you. I will keep nothing back from you.”
Na nga topuk, “Wona. Nga fah pre nu sin LEUM GOD lasr, in oana ke kowos siyuk an, ac kutena ma El fahk nga fah fahk nu suwos. Wangin ma nga ac okanla liki kowos.”
5 They said to Jeremiah, “May Yahweh be a true and faithful witness against us, if we do not do everything that Yahweh your God tells us to do.
Na elos fahk nu sik, “Lela LEUM GOD, su oaru ac pwaye, Elan orek loh lain kut, kut fin tia akos ma sap nukewa El sot nu sum kacsr.
6 Whether it is good or if it is bad, we will obey the voice of Yahweh our God, to whom we are sending you, so that it may be well with us when we obey the voice of Yahweh our God.”
Finne ma kut ac insewowo kac ku tia, kut fah akos LEUM GOD lasr, su kut siyuk kom in pre nu sel kacsr. Ma nukewa ac wo nu sesr kut fin aksol.”
7 At the end of ten days, the word of Yahweh came to Jeremiah.
Len singoul toko LEUM GOD El kaskas nu sik.
8 So Jeremiah called to Johanan son of Kareah and all the army commanders with him, and to all the people from the least to the greatest.
Ke ma inge nga solalma Johanan, ac mwet kol lun mwet mweun nukewa su welul, ac mwet nukewa saya, mwet pusisel ac mwet fulat.
9 Then he said to them, “This is what Yahweh, the God of Israel—to whom you sent me so I might lay your pleas before him—says,
Nga fahk nu selos, “LEUM GOD lun Israel, su kowos supweyu nu yoro ke mwe siyuk lowos, El fahk mu,
10 'If you go back and live in this land, then I will build you and not tear you down; I will plant you and not pull you up, for I will turn back the disaster that I have brought on you.
‘Kowos fin lungse mutana in facl se inge, na nga ac musaikowosyak ac tia ikruikowosi. Nga ac yukwikowosi ac tia fiskowosyak. Nga arulana oela ac asor ke sripen mwe ongoiya nga tuh akkeokye kowos kac.
11 Do not fear the king of Babylon, whom you are fearing. Do not fear him—this is Yahweh's declaration—since I am with you to save you and rescue you from his hand.
Nimet sifil sangeng sin tokosra Babylonia. Nga muta yuruwos, ac nga fah molikowosla liki ku lal.
12 For I will give you mercy. I will have compassion on you, and I will bring you back to your land.
Nga pakoten, ac nga fah oru tuh elan pakomutowos, ac lela kowos in folokla nu yen suwos. Nga, LEUM GOD, pa fahk ma inge.’
13 But suppose that you say, “We will not stay in this land”—if you do not listen to my voice, the voice of Yahweh your God.
“Tusruktu kowos fin fahk mu, ‘Kut ac tia mutana in facl se inge,’ ac kowos seakos pusren LEUM GOD lowos
14 Suppose that you say, “No! We will go to the land of Egypt, where we will not see any war, where we will not hear the sound of the trumpet, and we will not go hungry for food. We will live there.”
ac fahk, ‘Kut fah som nu in facl Egypt, yen kut ac tia liye mweun, ku sensen, ku masrinsral,’
15 Now listen to this word of Yahweh, you remnant of Judah. Yahweh of hosts, God of Israel, says this, 'If you actually set out to go to Egypt, to go and live there,
na kowos in lohng ma LEUM GOD Kulana, God lun Israel, El fahk nu sin mwet lula in facl Judah: ‘Kowos fin sulela ku suwos mu kowos ac som nu Egypt ac oakwuki we,
16 then the sword that you fear will overtake you there in the land of Egypt. The famine that you are worrying about will pursue you to Egypt, and you will die there.
na mweun ac masrinsral ma kowos sangeng kac ac fah ukwekowosla nu we, ac kowos fah misa in acn Egypt.
17 So it will happen that all the men who set out to go to Egypt to live there will die by sword, famine, or plague. There will be no survivor of them, no one to escape the disaster that I will bring on them.
Mwet nukewa su sulela in som ac muta Egypt fah misa we ke mweun, masrinsral, ku mas. Wangin mwet ac moul, ac wangin mwet ac kaingkunla mwe ongoiya nga ac use nu faclos.’
18 For Yahweh of hosts, God of Israel, says this: Just as my wrath and my fury were poured out on the inhabitants of Jerusalem, in the same way my fury will be poured out on you if you go to Egypt. You will become an object of cursing and a horror, an object for speaking curses, and something dishonorable, and you will not see this place again.'”
“LEUM GOD lun Israel El fahk, ‘Oana ke nga tuh okoala kasrkusrak lulap luk nu fin mwet Jerusalem, ouinge nga fah okoaot kasrkusrak luk nu fowos, kowos fin som nu Egypt. Mutanfahl saya uh ac langinging ke liyeya. Mwet ac fah aksruksruk ac israsrinkusrai kowos, ac orekmakin inen Jerusalem in mwe selnga lalos. Kowos ac fah tia sifilpa liye acn se inge.’”
19 Then Jeremiah said, “Yahweh has spoken concerning you—the remnant of Judah. Do not go to Egypt! You certainly know that I have been a witness against you today.
Na nga sifilpa fahk, “LEUM GOD El fahk nu suwos, mwet su lula in Judah, kowos in tia som nu Egypt. Ouinge nga sensenkakin kowos inge
20 For you fatally deceived yourselves when you sent me to Yahweh your God and said, 'Pray to Yahweh our God for us. Everything that Yahweh our God says, tell us, and we will carry it out.'
lah kowos oru sie tafongla su ac ma nu ke misa. Kowos siyuk sik ngan pre nu sin LEUM GOD lasr keiwos, ac kowos wulela mu kowos ac fah oru ma nukewa ma El sapkin.
21 For I have reported to you today, but you have not listened to the voice of Yahweh your God or to anything about which he sent me to you.
Na inge nga fahkot tari, a kowos seakos ma nukewa ma LEUM GOD lasr El supweyume in fahk nu suwos.
22 So now, you should certainly know that you will die by sword, famine, and plague in the place where you desired to go to live.”
Ke ma inge, kowos in arulana esam lah kowos ac misa ke mweun, ku masrinsral ku mas, fin acn se ma kowos lungse in som ac muta we.”
