< Jeremiah 26 >

1 In the beginning of the reign of Jehoiakim son of Josiah, this word came from Yahweh, saying,
Ní ìbẹ̀rẹ̀ pẹ̀pẹ̀ ìjọba ọba Jehoiakimu ọmọ Josiah tí ń ṣe ọba Juda, ọ̀rọ̀ yìí wá láti ọ̀dọ̀ Olúwa:
2 “Yahweh says this: Stand in the courtyard of my house and speak about all the cities of Judah who come to worship at my house. Proclaim all the words that I have commanded you to say to them. Do not cut short any word!
“Èyí ni ohun tí Olúwa wí, Dúró ní àgbàlá ilé Olúwa, kí o sì sọ fún gbogbo ènìyàn ilẹ̀ Juda tí ó ti wá láti wá jọ́sìn ní ilé Olúwa, sọ fún gbogbo ohun tí mo pàṣẹ fún ọ; má ṣaláìsọ gbogbo ọ̀rọ̀ náà.
3 It may be that they will listen, that each man will turn from his wicked ways, so I will relent concerning the disaster that I am planning to bring on them because of the wickedness of their practices.
Bóyá gbogbo wọn máa gbọ́ ọ̀rọ̀ náà tí ọ̀kọ̀ọ̀kan wọn yóò kúrò nínú ìwà búburú wọn. Èmi ó yí ọkàn padà, n kò sì ní fi ibi tí mo ti rò sí wọn ṣe wọ́n.
4 So you must say to them, 'Yahweh says this: If you do not listen to me so as to walk in my law that I have placed before you—
Sọ fún wọn wí pé, ‘Èyí ni ohun tí Olúwa wí: Tí ẹ kò bá fi etí sí ọ̀rọ̀ mi, tí ẹ kò sì gbọ́ òfin mi, ti mo gbé kalẹ̀ níwájú yín,
5 if you do not listen to the words of my servants the prophets whom I am persistently sending to you—but you have not listened!—
àti tí ẹ kò bá gbọ́ ọ̀rọ̀ àwọn ìránṣẹ́ mi, àwọn wòlíì tí mo rán sí i yín léraléra (ṣùgbọ́n ẹ̀yin kò gbọ́),
6 then I will make this house like Shiloh; I will turn this city into a curse in the sight of all the nations on earth.'”
nígbà náà ni èmi yóò ṣe ilé yìí bí Ṣilo, èmi yóò sì ṣe ìlú yìí ní ìfibú sí gbogbo orílẹ̀-èdè ayé.’”
7 The priests, the prophets, and all the people heard Jeremiah announcing these words in Yahweh's house.
Àwọn àlùfáà, àwọn wòlíì àti gbogbo ènìyàn ni ó gbọ́ ọ̀rọ̀ Jeremiah tí ó sọ ní ilé Olúwa.
8 So it happened that when Jeremiah had finished announcing all that Yahweh commanded him to say to all the people, the priests, prophets, and all the people seized him and said, “You will certainly die!
Ṣùgbọ́n ní kété tí Jeremiah ti parí ọ̀rọ̀ rẹ̀ tí Olúwa pàṣẹ láti sọ; àwọn àlùfáà, àti gbogbo ènìyàn dìímú, wọ́n sì wí pé, “Kíkú ni ìwọ yóò kú!
9 Why have you prophesied in Yahweh's name and said that this house will become like Shiloh and this city will become desolate, with no inhabitant?” For all the people had formed a mob against Jeremiah in Yahweh's house.
Kí ló dé tí ìwọ ṣe sọ àsọtẹ́lẹ̀ ní orúkọ Olúwa pé, ilé yìí yóò dàbí Ṣilo, orílẹ̀-èdè yìí yóò sì di ahoro tí kì yóò ní olùgbé.” Gbogbo àwọn ènìyàn sì kójọpọ̀ pẹ̀lú Jeremiah nínú ilé Olúwa.
10 Then the officials of Judah heard these words and went up from the king's house to Yahweh's house. They sat in the gateway at the New Gate of Yahweh's house.
Nígbà tí àwọn aláṣẹ Juda gbọ́ nípa nǹkan wọ̀nyí, wọ́n lọ láti ààfin ọba sí ilé Olúwa, wọ́n sì mú ààyè wọn, wọ́n jókòó ní ẹnu-ọ̀nà tuntun ilé Olúwa.
11 The priests and the prophets spoke to the officials and to all the people. They said, “It is right for this man to die, for he prophesied against this city, just as you heard with your own ears!”
Àwọn àlùfáà àti àwọn wòlíì sọ fún àwọn aláṣẹ àti gbogbo ènìyàn pé, “Arákùnrin yìí gbọdọ̀ gba ìdájọ́ ikú nítorí pé ó sọ àsọtẹ́lẹ̀ lórí ìlú yìí: bí ẹ̀yin ti fi etí yín gbọ́!”
12 So Jeremiah spoke to all the officials and all the people and said, “Yahweh has sent me out to prophesy against this house and this city, to say all the words that you have heard.
Nígbà náà ni Jeremiah sọ fún gbogbo àwọn aláṣẹ àti gbogbo àwọn ènìyàn wí pé: “Olúwa rán mi láti sọ àsọtẹ́lẹ̀ ní ilé yìí àti ìlú yìí, gbogbo ohun tí ẹ ti gbọ́.
13 So now, improve your ways and your practices, and listen to the voice of Yahweh your God so that he will relent concerning the disaster that he has proclaimed against you.
Nísinsin yìí, tún ọ̀nà rẹ ṣe àti ìṣe rẹ, kí ẹ sì gbọ́ ọ̀rọ̀ Olúwa Ọlọ́run yín. Olúwa yóò yí ọkàn rẹ̀ padà, kò sì ní mú ohun gbogbo tí ó ti sọ jáde ní búburú ṣẹ lórí yín.
14 I myself—look at me!—am in your hand. Do to me what is good and right in your eyes.
Bí ó bá ṣe tèmi ni, èmi wà ní ọwọ́ yín, ẹ ṣe ohun tí ẹ̀yin bá rò pé ó dára, tí ó sì tọ́ lójú yín fún mi.
15 But you must surely know that if you kill me, then you are bringing innocent blood on yourselves and on this city and its inhabitants, for Yahweh has truly sent me to you to proclaim all these words for your ears.”
Ẹ mọ̀ dájú pé tí ẹ bá pa mí, ẹ ó mú ẹ̀jẹ̀ aláìṣẹ̀ wá sórí ara yín, sórí ìlú yìí àti àwọn olùgbé inú rẹ̀; nítorí pé nítòótọ́ ni Olúwa ti rán mi láti sọ ọ̀rọ̀ yìí fún un yín.”
16 Then the officials and all the people said to the priests and prophets, “It is not right for this man to die, for he has proclaimed things to us in the name of Yahweh our God.”
Nígbà náà ni àwọn aláṣẹ àti gbogbo àwọn ènìyàn sọ fún àwọn àlùfáà àti àwọn wòlíì pé, “Ẹ má ṣe pa ọkùnrin yìí nítorí ó ti bá wa sọ̀rọ̀ ní orúkọ Olúwa àwọn ọmọ-ogun.”
17 Then men from the elders of the land rose up and spoke to the entire assembly of the people.
Lára àwọn àgbàgbà ilẹ̀ náà sì sún síwájú, wọ́n sì sọ fún gbogbo àwọn ènìyàn náà wí pé,
18 They said, “Micah the Morashite was prophesying in the days of Hezekiah king of Judah. He spoke to all the people of Judah and said, 'Yahweh of hosts says this: Zion will become a plowed field, Jerusalem will become a heap of rubble, and the hill of the temple will become a thicket.'
“Mika ti Moreṣeti sọ àsọtẹ́lẹ̀ ní ọjọ́ Hesekiah ọba Juda. Ó sọ fún gbogbo ènìyàn Juda pé, ‘Èyí ni ohun tí Olúwa wí: “‘A ó sì fa Sioni tu bí oko Jerusalẹmu yóò di òkìtì àlàpà àti òkè ilẹ̀ yìí gẹ́gẹ́ bí ibi gíga igbó.’
19 Did Hezekiah king of Judah and all of Judah put him to death? Did he not fear Yahweh and appease the face of Yahweh so that Yahweh would relent concerning the disaster that he proclaimed to them? So will we do greater evil against our own lives?”
Ǹjẹ́ Hesekiah ọba Juda tàbí ẹnikẹ́ni ní Juda pa á bí? Ǹjẹ́ Hesekiah kò bẹ̀rù Olúwa tí ó sì wá ojúrere rẹ̀? Ǹjẹ́ Olúwa kò ha a sì yí ìpinnu rẹ̀ padà, tí kò sì mú ibi tí ó ti sọtẹ́lẹ̀ yẹ̀ kúrò lórí wọn? Ibi ni a fẹ́ mú wá sórí ara wa yìí.”
20 Meanwhile there was another man who prophesied in the name of Yahweh—Uriah son of Shemaiah from Kiriath Jearim—he also prophesied against this city and this land, agreeing with all of Jeremiah's words.
(Bákan náà Uriah ọmọ Ṣemaiah láti Kiriati-Jearimu jẹ́ ọkùnrin mìíràn tí ó sọ àsọtẹ́lẹ̀ kan náà ní orúkọ Olúwa. Ó sọ àsọtẹ́lẹ̀ kan náà sí ìlú náà àti ilẹ̀ yín bí Jeremiah ti ṣe.
21 But when King Jehoiakim and all his soldiers and officials heard his word, then the king tried to put him to death, but Uriah heard and was afraid, so he ran away and went to Egypt.
Nígbà tí ọba Jehoiakimu àti gbogbo àwọn aláṣẹ gbọ́ gbogbo ọ̀rọ̀ rẹ̀, ọba ń wá láti pa á: ṣùgbọ́n Uriah gbọ́ èyí, ẹ̀rù bà á, ó sì sálọ sí Ejibiti.
22 Then King Jehoiakim sent out men to go to Egypt—Elnathan son of Akbor and men to go into Egypt after Uriah.
Ọba Jehoiakimu rán Elnatani ọmọ Akbori lọ sí Ejibiti pẹ̀lú àwọn ọkùnrin mìíràn.
23 They took Uriah out from Egypt and brought him to King Jehoiakim. Then Jehoiakim killed him with a sword and sent his corpse out to the graves of the ordinary people.
Wọ́n sì mú Uriah láti Ejibiti lọ sí ọ̀dọ̀ ọba Jehoiakimu; ẹni tí ó fi idà pa, ó sì sọ òkú rẹ̀ sí inú isà òkú àwọn ènìyàn lásán.)
24 But the hand of Ahikam son of Shaphan was with Jeremiah, so he was not given into the hand of the people to be put to death.
Ahikamu ọmọ Ṣafani ń bẹ pẹ̀lú Jeremiah, wọn kò sì fi í lé àwọn ènìyàn lọ́wọ́ láti pa á.
