Isaiah 38
1 In those days Hezekiah was sick to the point of dying. So Isaiah son of Amoz, the prophet, came to him, and said to him, “Yahweh says, 'Set your house in order; for you will die, not live.'”
Naqueles dias Ezequias adoeceu de uma enfermidade mortal: e veio a ele Isaias, filho d'Amós, o profeta, e lhe disse: Assim diz o Senhor: Ordena a tua casa, porque morrerás, e não viverás.
2 Then Hezekiah turned his face to the wall and prayed to Yahweh.
Então virou Ezequias o seu rosto para a parede; e orou ao Senhor.
3 He said, “Please, Yahweh, call to mind how I have faithfully walked before you with my whole heart, and how I have done what was good in your sight.” Then Hezekiah wept loudly.
E disse: Ah Senhor, lembra-te, te peço, de que andei diante de ti em verdade, e com coração perfeito, e fiz o que era reto aos teus olhos. E chorou Ezequias muitíssimo.
4 Then the word of Yahweh came to Isaiah, saying,
Então veio a palavra do Senhor a Isaias, dizendo:
5 “Go and say to Hezekiah, the leader of my people, 'This is what Yahweh, the God of David your ancestor, says: I have heard your prayer, and I have seen your tears. See, I am about to add fifteen years to your life.
Vai, e dize a Ezequias: Assim diz o Senhor, o Deus de David teu pai: Ouvi a tua oração, e vi as tuas lágrimas; eis que acrescento sobre os teus dias quinze anos.
6 Then I will rescue you and this city from the hand of the king of Assyria, and I will defend this city.
E livrar-te-ei das mãos do rei da Assyria, a ti, e a esta cidade, e ampararei a esta cidade.
7 This will be the sign to you from Yahweh, that I will do what I have promised.
E isto te será por sinal da parte do Senhor de que o Senhor cumprirá esta palavra que falou.
8 Look, I will cause the shadow on the stairs of Ahaz to go back ten steps.'” So the shadow went back ten steps of the stairs on which it had advanced.
Eis que farei tornar a sombra dos graus, que declinou com o sol pelos graus do relógio d'Achaz dez graus atráz. Assim tornou o sol dez graus atráz, pelos graus que já tinha descido.
9 This was the written prayer of Hezekiah king of Judah, when he had been sick and then recovered:
Escrituras d'Ezequias, rei de Judá, de quando adoeceu e sarou de sua enfermidade.
10 “I said that halfway through my life I will go through the gates of Sheol; I am sent there for the rest of my years. (Sheol h7585)
Eu disse no cessar de meus dias: ir-me-ei às portas da sepultura: já estou privado do resto de meus anos. (Sheol h7585)
11 I said that I will no longer see Yahweh, Yahweh in the land of the living; I will no longer look on mankind or the inhabitants of the world.
Disse também: Já não verei mais ao Senhor, digo, na terra dos viventes: jamais verei o homem com os moradores do mundo.
12 My life is removed and carried away from me like a shepherd's tent; I have rolled up my life like a weaver; you are cutting me off from the loom; between day and night you are ending my life.
Já o tempo da minha vida se foi, e foi trespassado de mim, como choça de pastor: cortei a minha vida, como tecelão que corta a sua teia; como desde os liços me cortará; desde o dia até à noite me acabarás.
13 I cried out until the morning; like a lion he breaks all my bones. Between day and night you are ending my life.
Isto me propunha até à madrugada, que, como um leão, quebrantaria todos os meus ossos: desde o dia até à noite me acabarás.
14 Like a swallow I chirp; I coo like a dove; my eyes grow tired with looking upward. Lord, I am oppressed; help me.
Como o grou, ou a andorinha, assim chilreava, e gemia como a pomba: alçava os meus olhos ao alto; ó Senhor ando oprimido, fica por meu fiador.
15 What shall I say? He has both spoken to me, and has done it; I will walk slowly all my years because I am overcome with grief.
Que direi? como mo prometeu, assim o fez: assim passarei mansamente por todos os meus anos, por causa da amargura da minha alma.
16 Lord, the sufferings you send are good for me; may my life be given back to me; you have restored my life and health.
Senhor, com estas coisas se vive, e em todas elas está a vida do meu espírito, porque tu me curaste e me saraste.
17 It was for my benefit that I experienced such grief. You have rescued me from the pit of destruction; for you have thrown all my sins behind your back.
Eis que até na paz a amargura me foi amarga; tu porém tão amorosamente abraçaste a minha alma, que não caiu na cova da corrupção; porque lançaste para traz das tuas costas todos os meus pecados.
18 For Sheol does not thank you; death does not praise you; those who go down into the pit do not hope in your trustworthiness. (Sheol h7585)
Porque não te louvará a sepultura, nem a morte te glorificará: nem tão pouco esperarão em tua verdade os que descem à cova. (Sheol h7585)
19 The living person, the living person, he is the one who gives you thanks, as I do this day; a father makes known to children your trustworthiness.
O vivente, o vivente, esse te louvará como eu hoje o faço: o pai aos filhos fará notória a tua verdade.
20 Yahweh is about to save me, and we will celebrate with music all the days of our lives in the house of Yahweh.”
O Senhor veio salvar-me; pelo que, tangendo em meus instrumentos, lhe cantaremos todos os dias de nossa vida na casa do Senhor.
21 Now Isaiah had said, “Let them take a lump of figs and put it on the boil, and he will recover.”
E dissera Isaias: Tomem uma pasta de figos, e a ponham como emplasto sobre a chaga; e sarará.
22 Hezekiah also had said, “What will be the sign that I should go up to the house of Yahweh?”
Também dissera Ezequias: Qual será o sinal de que hei de subir à casa do Senhor?
