Isaiah 37
1 It came about that when King Hezekiah heard their report, he tore his clothes, covered himself with sackcloth, and went into the house of Yahweh.
Aconteció pues que el rey Ezequías, oído esto, rompió sus vestidos, y cubierto de saco vino a la casa de Jehová.
2 He sent Eliakim, who was over the household, and Shebna the scribe, and the elders of the priests, all covered with sackcloth, to Isaiah son of Amoz, the prophet.
Y envió a Eliacim mayordomo, y a Sobna escriba, y a los ancianos de los sacerdotes cubiertos de sacos a Isaías profeta, hijo de Amós.
3 They said to him, “Hezekiah says, 'This day is a day of distress, rebuke, and disgrace, like when a child is ready to be born, but the mother has no strength to give birth to her child.
Los cuales le dijeron: Ezequías dice así: día de angustia, de reprensión, y de blasfemia es este día; porque los hijos han llegado hasta la rotura, y no hay fuerza en la que pare.
4 It may be Yahweh your God will hear the words of the chief commander, whom the king of Assyria his master has sent to defy the living God, and will rebuke the words which Yahweh your God has heard. Now lift up your prayer for the remnant that is still here.'”
Quizá oirá Jehová tu Dios las palabras de Rabsaces, al cual envió el rey de Asiria su señor a blasfemar al Dios vivo, y a reprender con las palabras que oyó Jehová tu Dios: alza pues oración tú por los restos que han aun quedado.
5 So the servants of King Hezekiah came to Isaiah,
Vinieron pues los siervos de Ezequías a Isaías.
6 and Isaiah said to them, “Say to your master: 'Yahweh says, “Do not be afraid of the words that you have heard, with which the servants of the king of Assyria have insulted me.
Y díjoles Isaías: Diréis así a vuestro señor: Jehová dice así: No temas por las palabras que has oído, con las cuales me han blasfemado los siervos del rey de Asiria.
7 Look, I will put a spirit in him, and he will hear a certain report and go back to his own land. I will cause him to fall by the sword in his own land.”'”
He aquí que yo doy en él un espíritu, y oirá un rumor, y volverse ha a su tierra; y yo haré que en su tierra caiga a cuchillo.
8 Then the chief commander returned and found the king of Assyria fighting against Libnah, for he had heard that the king had gone away from Lachish.
Vuelto pues Rabsaces halló al rey de Asiria, que batía a Lebna; porque ya había oído que se había apartado de Laquis.
9 Then Sennacherib heard that Tirhakah king of Cush and Egypt had mobilized to fight against him, so he sent messengers again to Hezekiah with a message:
Mas oyendo decir de Taraca, rey de Etiopía: He aquí que ha salido para hacerte guerra: en oyéndolo, envió mensajeros a Ezequías, diciendo:
10 “Say to Hezekiah, king of Judah, 'Do not let your God in whom you trust deceive you, saying, “Jerusalem will not be given into the hand of the king of Assyria.”
Diréis así a Ezequías, rey de Judá: No te engañe tu Dios, en quien tú confías, diciendo: Jerusalem no será entregada en mano del rey de Asiria.
11 See, you have heard what the kings of Assyria have done to all lands by destroying them completely. So will you be rescued?
He aquí que tu oíste lo que hicieron los reyes de Asiria a todas las tierras, como las destruyeron: ¿escaparte has tú?
12 Have the gods of the nations rescued them, the nations that my fathers destroyed: Gozan, Haran, Rezeph, and the people of Eden in Tel Assar?
¿Libraron los dioses de las naciones a los que destruyeron mis antepasados, a Gozán, y Harán, Rezef, y a los hijos de Edén, que moraban en Telasar?
13 Where is the king of Hamath, the king of Arpad, the king of the cities of Sepharvaim, of Hena, and Ivvah?'”
¿Dónde está el rey de Hamat, y el rey de Arfad, el rey de la ciudad de Sefarvaim, de Ana, y de Hava?
14 Hezekiah received this letter from hand of the messengers and read it. Then he went up to the house of Yahweh and spread it before him.
Y tomó Ezequías las cartas de las manos de los mensajeros, y leyólas, y subió a la casa de Jehová, y extendiólas delante de Jehová.
15 Hezekiah prayed to Yahweh:
Entonces Ezequías oró a Jehová, diciendo:
16 “Yahweh of hosts, God of Israel, you who sit above the cherubim, you are God alone over all the kingdoms of the earth. You made the heavens and the earth.
Jehová de los ejércitos, Dios de Israel, que moras entre los querubines, tú eres Dios solo sobre todos los reinos de la tierra: tú hiciste los cielos, y la tierra.
17 Turn your ear, Yahweh, and listen. Open your eyes, Yahweh, and see, and hear the words of Sennacherib, which he has sent to mock the living God.
Inclina, o! Jehová, tu oído, y oye: abre, o! Jehová, tus ojos, y mira, y oye todas las palabras de Senaquerib, el cual envió a blasfemar al Dios viviente.
18 It is true, Yahweh, the kings of Assyria have destroyed all the nations and their lands.
Ciertamente, o! Jehová, los reyes de Asiria destruyeron todas las tierras, y sus comarcas;
19 They have put their gods into the fire, for they were not gods but the work of men's hands, just wood and stone. So the Assyrians have destroyed them.
Y a los dioses de ellos pusieron en fuego; porque no eran dioses, mas obra de manos de hombre, madero y piedra; por eso los deshicieron.
20 So now, Yahweh our God, save us from his power, so that all the kingdoms of the earth may know that you are Yahweh alone.”
Ahora pues, Jehová Dios nuestro, líbranos de su mano, para que todos los reinos de la tierra conozcan, que tú, o! Jehová, eres solo.
21 Then Isaiah son of Amoz sent a message to Hezekiah, saying, “Yahweh, the God of Israel says, 'Because you have prayed to me concerning Sennacherib king of Assyria,
Entonces Isaías, hijo de Amós, envió a decir a Ezequías: Jehová Dios de Israel dice así: Acerca de lo que me rogaste de Senaquerib, rey de Asiria;
22 this is the word that Yahweh has spoken about him: “The virgin daughter of Zion despises you and laughs you to scorn; the daughter of Jerusalem shakes her head at you.
Esto es lo que Jehová habló de él: ¿Háte menospreciado? ¿ha hecho escarnio de ti, o! virgen hija de Sión? ¿meneó su cabeza a tus espaldas, o! hija de Jerusalem?
23 Whom have you defied and insulted? Against whom have you exalted your voice and lifted up your eyes in pride? Against the Holy One of Israel.
¿A quién injuriaste, y a quién blasfemaste? ¿Contra quién alzaste tu voz, y alzaste tus ojos en alto? Contra el alto Santo de Israel.
24 By your servants you have defied the Lord and have said, 'With the multitude of my chariots I have gone up to the heights of the mountains, to the highest elevations of Lebanon. I will cut down its tall cedars and choice cypress trees there, and I will enter into its farthest high places, its most fruitful forest.
Por mano de tus siervos denostaste al Señor, y dijiste: Yo con la multitud de mis carros subiré a las alturas de los montes, a las cuestas del Líbano: cortaré sus altos cedros, sus hayas escogidas: después vendré a lo alto de su fin, al monte de su Carmelo.
25 I have dug wells and drunk water; I dried up all the rivers of Egypt under the soles of my feet.'
Yo cavé, y bebí las aguas: con las pisadas de mis pies secaré todos los ríos de munición.
26 Have you not heard how I determined it long ago and worked it out in ancient times? Now I am bringing it to pass. You are here to reduce impregnable cities into heaps of ruins.
¿No has oído decir, que yo la hice de luengo tiempo, que yo la formé de días antiguos? Ahora la he hecho venir, y será para destrucción de ciudades fuertes en montones de asolamiento.
27 Their inhabitants, of little strength, are shattered and ashamed. They are plants in the field, green grass, the grass on the roof or in the field, before the east wind.
Y sus moradores, cortos de manos, quebrantados, y avergonzados: serán grama del campo, y hortaliza verde: yerba de los tejados, que antes de madura se seca.
28 But I know your sitting down, your going out, your coming in, and your raging against me.
Tu estada, tu salida, y tu entrada, he entendido; y tu furor contra mí.
29 Because of your raging against me, and because your arrogance has reached my ears, I will put my hook in your nose, and my bit in your mouth; I will turn you back the way you came.”
Porque te airaste contra mí, y tu estruendo ha subido a mis oídos: pondré pues mi anzuelo en tu nariz, y mi freno en tus labios, y hacerte he tornar por el camino por donde veniste.
30 This will be the sign for you: This year you will eat what grows wild, and in the second year what grows from that. But in the third year you must plant and harvest, plant vineyards and eat their fruit.
Y esto te será por señal: Comerás este año lo que nace de suyo; y el año segundo también lo que nace de suyo; y el año tercero sembraréis, y segaréis, y plantaréis viñas, y comeréis el fruto de ellos.
31 The remnant of the house of Judah that survives will again take root and bear fruit.
Y lo que hubiere escapado de la casa de Judá, tornará a echar raíz abajo, y hará fruto arriba.
32 For from Jerusalem a remnant will come out; from Mount Zion survivors will come. The zeal of Yahweh of hosts will do this.'”
Porque de Jerusalem saldrán residuos, y del monte de Sión escapada. El zelo de Jehová de los ejércitos hará esto.
33 Therefore Yahweh says this about the king of Assyria: “He will not come into this city and he will not shoot an arrow here. He will not come before it with shield or build up a siege ramp against it.
Por tanto así dice Jehová acerca del rey de Asiria: No entrará en esta ciudad, ni echará saeta en ella: no vendrá delante de ella escudo, ni será echado sobre ella baluarte.
34 The way by which he came will be the same way he will leave; he will not enter this city—this is Yahweh's declaration.
Por el camino que vino, se tornará, y no entrará en esta ciudad, dice Jehová.
35 For I will defend this city and rescue it, for my own sake and for David my servant's sake.”
Y yo ampararé a esta ciudad para salvarla por amor de mí, y por amor de David mi siervo.
36 Then the angel of Yahweh went out and attacked the camp of the Assyrians, putting to death 185,000 soldiers. When the men arose early in the morning, dead bodies lay everywhere.
Y salió el ángel de Jehová, e hirió ciento y ochenta y cinco mil en el campo de los Asirios; y cuando se levantaron por la mañana, he aquí que todo era cuerpos de muertos.
37 So Sennacherib king of Assyria left Israel and went home and stayed in Nineveh.
Entonces Senaquerib rey de Asiria partiéndose se fue, y se tornó; e hizo su morada en Nínive.
38 Later, as he was worshiping in the house of Nisrok his god, his sons Adrammelek and Sharezer killed him with the sword. Then they escaped into the land of Ararat. Then Esarhaddon his son reigned in his place.
Y acaeció, que estando orando en el templo de Nisroc su dios, Adramelec y Sarezer sus hijos le hirieron a cuchillo, y huyeron a la tierra de Armenia; y reinó en su lugar Asaradón su hijo.
